I can't believe it! My FIRST EVER ride with NO interventions, and NO disengagements whatsoever! This is stunning. AI is advancing self driving in ways I could never have imagined, and at a speed that I find incredible. You have to watch this video of the perfect ride.

100% score in Canada is also due to how kind Canadian drivers are and how nice are your roads. In the lower 48 this update shows some improvements but still very clunky on unprotected left hand turns and at roundabouts and intersections. I do appreciate your experience and wish you continued success. Cheers!

Thanks David. Yes - I imagine that, in general, Canadian drivers tend to permit you to more easily merge into busy traffic. Will have to take it down Vancouver town which can be CRAZY at times.

I been to Canada several times. In the big cities, drivers are no different than drivers here in the U.S. Usually its the non-native Canadians that drive less curtiously.

No. I just increased the volume in the editing phases because the taps were so soft they were hard to hear, and I’d just told everyone in the video that you can hear the double tap. So I dragged the volume control up to 12db just for the double taps :)

Now if it can do that 99.9999% of the time pretty much everywhere in, say, the lower US 48, then we'll be "about there" for the lower US 48. Managing not to mess up one time is NOT nearly there, when we're talking about practical wide-area robotaxi networks. Oh, and weather and construction, and unusual situations, etc... I'm a long term Tesla shareholder and want to see this happen, but let's not get carried away, use clickbait titles, make crazy fanboi claims, etc. It doesn't help, even though Elon makes FAR too many way-overoptimistic short term productions.
@model3man
@model3man Жыл бұрын
Hi Roger. Thanks for the comment. However, this was NOT a clickbait title. And I firmly believe we are ALMOST there. Not clickbait at all. Here's why: I am not saying we are 'there' yet for Robotaxis. Not at all. I'm referring to the average user who wants to go from their work or home, to a destination, on normal tarred / marked roads that are used in 99% of the areas where Tesla vehicles operate and exist. I have made NUMEROUS drives every day where I have not had to intervene at all. Not once. And I think you reckon without the incredible advances in the AI / Dojo that is being developed and improved by Tesla. All of which is applied to helping the vehicle fleet learn more and learn faster. I am constantly amazed when my car receives updates at HOW much smoother, and more "aware" the car is compared to the previous update. So - no - the title was not clickbait but reflective of the real excitement I felt at the way it performed and how close it is getting. As to the fanboy - yes, unabashedly, unashamedly a fan boy and proud of it :)

Great Video Peter, but I noticed your route consisted mostly of Right turn’s except the first one where you were not on FSD. How was the return trip in the opposite direction, assuming it took the reverse route?
@model3man
@model3man Жыл бұрын
Hi Dennis! You’re right - it did have a lot of right turns. Ride home was the exact reverse and once again.. no interventions, no disengagements. Today was like one long ‘high’ wherever I drove. Going to go into downtown Vancouver Wednesday and check what happens under more intense traffic environments

Not quite. 11.4.4 is still making mistakes for me that I have told them about before. Still nothing for school zones. I am tired of telling them about that. If it cannot handle school zones it is useless during the school year on a number of streets near me.
@model3man
@model3man Жыл бұрын
Good points Don. What encourages me is the rate of learning. With their Dojo computer constantly increasing in processing power, and the fact that they use it to refine and train FSD, I’m confident that it’s a matter of a few more cycles of updates before issues (important issues) like the one you’ve outlined will be addressed.
@iowa_don
@iowa_don Жыл бұрын
@@model3man It makes me wonder if the progress being made currently is limited by the computing horsepower they have available. Kinda like how much compute power it takes to render even short clips in a CGI intensive movie. I assume their DOJO clusters are currently running 24/7 maxed out. Perhaps until they have more Exaflops, the rate of improvement is limited.

Peter, what about Stop Signs? How did it go?
@model3man
@model3man Жыл бұрын
I've never had issues with stop signs on any recent update, EXCEPT that I wish it would take off more quickly after it has come to the full stop. Humans tend to do 'rolling stops' which is basically illegal here so I don't fault the car for stopping - just wish it would immediately begin moving if safe to do so

Getting better yes, but I'm still not convinced FSD will be feature complete and approved by regulators for another decade yet.
@model3man
@model3man Жыл бұрын
Well - a decade is a very long time in the field of technology. I understand the red tape, and the fear of government officials in making major changes in approving FSD, but my guess would be that it gets approved in specific areas first, and this approval spreads to other states / provinces / regions as it proves itself in reducing deaths and injuries. So I would personally not think it to be longer than 5 years from now. I guess time will tell
@Resist4
@Resist4 Жыл бұрын
@@model3man Yes tech is changing more rapidly now but, to be fully autonomous in all weather conditions and road situations is a very difficult task, especially with just vision only. And regulators will never approve it in 5 years, even if it's ready. Yet, I really don't think it will be ready in 5 years, certainly not good enough for robo taxi's. In the almost 5 years I've had my Model 3, yes it has gotten better but it's not a huge improvement. There have been some software setbacks in the OS and many things that made it better but my reduction in range due to battery degradation kind of ruined any gains. And if I want a new Tesla with better hardware it won't have FSD because I won't pay $15,000 for it.
