I tried FSD for 30 days also, still a bit nervous while using it, I felt that it accelerated and stop too fast sometimes for me. However I am confident Tesla will soon improve it so that old lady like myself will be comfortable using it. Elon mentioned yesterday as it gets better in the future versions, Tesla would offer free trial again. Once I feel comfortable enough I will definitely subscribe to it. Tesla just hired a X Geico executive for its insurance business. When Tesla can offer a cheaper insurance rate for FSD users, I think the take rate would increase significantly. Elon is a very comprehensive thinker, he has huge capacity and is the accelerant for Tesla. I believe people who make negative comments about Tesla and Elon are either never have driven a Tesla or they bought Tesla stock during the hype period and lost tons of money. Ignore them.

I've been driving FSD for almost four years. Yes, V12 is amazing. But what I'm noticing is that until I can do something other than monitor everything (and I do) I find that I quickly get used to the improvements and then just notice the remaining problems. And I hate the nags. If I accidentally cross over 90 mph. It just feels like 80.. so I think okay slow down... But then the alarms start blaring and they don't stop. It's not only annoying, it impedes my attention. It's like the old harridan who only notices when you do something wrong and then won't shut up about it - except she's bellowing in your face. The interface needs fixing, the maps need fixing. Most of the nags I get are because I'm fighting the map to figure out which Supercharger to go to (It shows dozens almost all of which are completely impractical for my route. Or I'm fighting with the ever changing scale of the map trying to figure out what exactly does that route with no street/highway names is actually doing. Or I'm trying to squint read the tiny letters on the message that just popped up -- they're mostly irrelevant.

Interface is everything. Fonts could certainly have customisable sizes. Nags and alerts can be removed (as with 12.4 where the nag is gone provided you still keep looking at the road ahead and don't wear dark sunglasses :) Certainly the most important feature is safety, real-world intelligence and the ability of the car to work things out when needed. But, you are correct that interface and notifications are hugely important for us humans

I had FSD 12 for the free 30-day trial on our MYLR and was very impressed at the progress they have made and the ability to do it all with vision only. Having said that, I still didn't rush to spend the $8k and I feel even at $99 a month, it isn't something I will subscribe to unless I am traveling and feel I would rather the car take the wheel. During my time with it, I was annoyed with the automatic lane changes in many instances where I wanted to just stay in the lane I was in. It would put on the blinker so would require me to not only cancel the FSD control but also have to cancel the turn signal plus do all that while irritating the cars behind me. After the first week or so, I just went into the menu, disabled FSD, and went back to regular AP which I was used to using and had become more comfortable with. I do like all the new visualizations and the auto lane change with the blinker manually being applied when in AP because I'm choosing the when and not the car. After the trial, no more blinker-demanded lane changes so I do have to manually use the steering wheel myself. I didn't try any summon or auto park functions while it was active so can't comment on those. I did pay the $7k for FSD on our '18 M3LR (which our grandson still drives) but decided not to purchase it when we bought our '23 MYLR...YMMV. I was so relieved to see this video since it confirms you are still around in Cozumel and would really like to see more content on that channel as well. Hope all is going as planned.

Hi there Jeff. Thanks for sharing your 'take' on the month-long free trial. I think comments like yours are very valuable because the allow Tesla to see what the ordinary Tesla owner considers important in terms of irritations or limitations. Because, the one thing we know about Elon is that he is definitely responsive to user feedback. I think that the change from coding to AI-style video training is a sea-change for Tesla. Updates are coming more quickly. Edge cases and being identified and rectified. Driving is becoming smoother and very much more 'human' and where before I thought 'perfection' would be measured in years still to go, I now feel that we are looking at months instead of years before an acceptable level of safe, effective self driving is reached. Anyway, it is GREAT to be in our new condo; great to be scuba diving once again, and GREAT to be able to devote time now to my channel(s) and to more regular content I hope will be beneficial to those who have followed me for so many years. Stay well :)

Your mis associating data here. 50% of a larger proportion is better than 80% of a smaller one. While your statement is factually correct, it’s something that is often quoted by the media when hyping a storyline. Focus on the production numbers.. of which are much higher in the scenario you’ve quoted here. Elon is bleeding Tesla to pay himself for the Twitter purchase and in doing so will diminish Tesla in the long run.
@model3man
@model3man 3 ай бұрын
No - that is absolutely not the case. And Twitter (X) is very close to paying for itself as large numbers of advertisers have returned., The FUD about X is mostly generated by those who resent the fact that Elon has control of a platform with significantly greater levels of free speech than any of the other social media platforms. This naturally represents a threat to the mainstream media as well as to the rival platforms like FB, KZbin, TikTok etc so they will do and say anything to try to restore the "Old Twitter" which happily joined in the censorship attempts that existed previously. The world owes a great debt to Elon. He is not the devious, manipulative, power-hungry billionaire he is frequently made out to be, but rather, a man who hates unfairness and injustice and was prepared to spend $44 billion to help provide a space where news and relative truth can exist in a world of communication platforms that act as slaves to giant corporations, and to controlling govvenrments of all political stripes.

The goods news is that the updates are coming out with every-increasing speed, and the majority of testers who post to KZbin are excited by the rapid and significant improvements each update delivers, It is true that it isn't quite there yet, but there is confidence in Tesla and the FSD team that edge cases are rapidly being eliminated. There is a lot to "iron out" but the progress has been amazing, and the new AI-based training has inreased the speed of learning at a rate only possible because of the huge size of the fleet of "robot" vehicles traveling millions and ultimately billions of miles gathering data, and the massive computing power they have brought to bear on the neural network to facilitate accurate and rapid training - especially of the remaining edge cases that still require attention

@@model3man all true but here’s another old adage to consider.. just because you can doesn’t mean you always should… tech for techs sake isn’t always the right thing to consider. Example: I drove over 1,500 miles during my FSD Supervised trial… it expired a few days ago.. I just drove 300 miles on basic AP. And the drive with AP was far less annoying, with almost zero nags and far fewer annoyances.
