Cool. I am definitely looking forward to the Tesla Model 3 self-driving ability that would help me reduce my anxiety & stress in long-distance driving.

All modern Cars will have that when it is allowed. Most auto suppliers are testing FSD. I have a friend in Zurich who is programming it for NVIDIA. Tesla has lots of cars of the road, however most of car situations can be emulated in software and tested in game engines first. Of course, on the road is the last 10percent to get it right. Tesla are good.

I drive Uber, mostly with FSD, for fun. Most people don’t even know the car is doing all of the work. It works great in all traffic conditions. Occasionally it does a thing that I would consider rude, but overall I would say it is a great benefit.

I find charging adds about 20% to the overall trip time. Depends on the trip. If there are no V2 Superchargers then it is quicker, and those are more and more common. Does it take longer? Yes. But it’s a much better experience overall. There is new functionality in the Tesla app as of a few days ago, where you can use the trip planner just like you would in the car but on your phone in the app and so sometimes I sit down and type in random places around the United States and observe the charging times. I just typed in from my location to Boise Idaho, about 800 miles, and six of the eight charging stops were between 11 and 13 minutes. That’s fine. By the time I use the bathroom and eat or check texts and reply, make a phone call to family I haven’t seen in years, use the bathroom, whatever, the car is usually waiting on me, rather than me waiting on the car. For me, longer charge times aren’t a flaw, they’re a feature. It seriously has made my life better. When’s the last time you called your grandparents and had a chat? Too long for me. This allows time for those little things that make the human experience valuable.

This is cool. Bought a Y long range last month and have been scared to try FSD. I have trust issues 😅 May need to try it in a rural area

@johnfurr6060 9 ай бұрын
Hey for what's worth, you should have trust issues while using FSD! It is in fact still Beta software. I also recommend going some where rural, like you said, for the first few drives. It takes some getting used to the way it handles corners and stuff and it's just better to feel that all out without other drivers around. When I'm in any situation that feels even the slightest bit sketchy my hands are on the wheel and my foot is hovering over the break! Also when I'm not shooting videos like this I tend to use it when I know it's going to perform well and then disengage when I come up to an intersection or other areas where I know it's won't behave human like. For the FSD videos I try to give it as much leeway as possible to show people the current state of the technology

@@johnfurr6060 yeah it would be a mostly highway use feature for me. And the autopilot does a good job for that matter on the highway. It’s definitely cool tech and seems like the more autonomous driving there is the better the system will be. Thanks for the videos!

It’s great. After you get used to it, it’s like driving with a very attentive friend who has your best interests in mind, always. A great symbiosis of human and machine. The sum of the two parts is much greater than each one individually.

300 miles per charge, at 1,500 cycles is 450K miles. 450K miles at average driving of 14K miles per year is 32 years. Not too many people I know keep a car for 32 years. Additionally, it’s not like the battery just shuts off and stops working at a certain point like when a transmission goes or a motor has a timing belt problem or something like that. It is true that they will gradually degrade in overall capacity over time as well as charge a little bit slower, but here is the important detail that many people overlook: most people do not need 300 miles of driving range in a day. They usually need about 40 miles of driving range, or less, per day. So as the battery gradually degrades over 30 years of use, it won’t matter enough to affect the daily usage of the vehicle For quite some time. Data shows that they lose somewhere between 10 and 15% of their capacity over the first 200,000 miles. That means that a full charge would be around 280 miles per Charge after the car has 200,000 miles on it cumulatively.the only reason that is a problem is because somebody thinks it is a problem, not because it is a problem in reality.

8:32min into the video, you should have slowed for the Squirrel. FSD would go over them, and likely any small animal, like a cat or dog. I have yet to experience a reaction when using FSD.

Yeah it's really amazing on the highway. We did a round trip to Albany NY, which is about 150miles each direction. I did take over one time when we hit some heavy merging traffic, but only because the car slowed down more than I wanted it to on the highway. To be honest I'm still not to the point where I would just fully trust it, but having an extra 8 cameras on the road at all times for sure increases overall safety. Especially on the highway.
@R56Cooper
@R56Cooper 9 ай бұрын
@johnfurr6060 100%. Having the extra camera actively monitoring our blind spots makes me think FSD is a game-changer for safety especially since our senses are unfortunately easily distracted. Looking forward to trying out FSD for the first time. Especially for long freeway drives!

Great demonstration of FSD. I like that the vehicle is conservative and it's up to the discretion of the driver to "give it more gas" to speed up it's execution at intersections and the like. I'm from Australia and the FSD Beta is not available (putting aside a rumour that a handful of people are using it). What are your thoughts on the 2024 Model S (Highland) and the impacts of stalk removal & no more sensors? Also, are you planning on doing an Autopark video?
@johnfurr6060
@johnfurr6060 9 ай бұрын
I think the 2024 Model S is pretty bad ass! They already removed the non camera sensors so It's vision only now. Actually I think the S and X may still have radar collecting data, but currently not in use. With regards to the Autopark.. unfortunately that feature isn't currently available. I was kinda bummed to be honest, but I promise I'll do a video on it as soon as I get access to it!

On-peak rate for home charging $0.07 and off-peak is $0.033. So I can get 300 miles range for $2. Not a typo, two dollars.

No, the Cybertrck beat the Porsche NOT on a 1/4 mile but on a 1/8 mile due to its torque. Its certainly impressive, but not as amazing as this publicity stunt made it out to be. Elon is a good salesperson ...
@johnfurr6060
@johnfurr6060 7 ай бұрын
This is true, but the Cybertruck still smoked it off the line with trailer in tow and beat it in the 1/8 mile. And without the tow it would beat it in the quarter mile too. So it's not as impressive as made out to be, but it's still completely ridiculous how bad ass this is.
