Just realized I posted this to FB and not KZbin! Most of you have probably seen this one. B&O had a close relationship with the SP and run through power was often see on the St Louis to Cumberland trains :)

Someone(s) a long way from home. Dad and me saw a SP and SSW (Cotton Belt) on an eastbound at Halethorpe, Maryland after dark circa 1980...

Awesome. Now I can run my 80s SP units with my Chessie units and call it Maryland, not Oregon. Didnt know they ran through. Used to go up to Cumberland on Amtrak in the 70s, dont recall seeing SP units but I did see the F units.

Hey Scott yep they were pretty common.....I have a photograph somewhere of two SP sdp40-2 tunnel motors..... I presume we're borrowed over the weekend, in helper service on Sand Patch! I will see if I can find it and post it for you.

Wow. All the little things that add up! Fans in the factory’s windows - loved it! B&O in the ‘60s. I remember it like this!

So nice! Who made your B&O 4009? Looks to be a GP40-2?
@Industrialmodels24 жыл бұрын
It’s an Atlas O Gp60 frame and engine with some sd40 details. It’s def a fantasy engine but its a brute and hauls a lot of cars....
@yardhog4 жыл бұрын
Fantasy engine or not, it looks good. I picked up an MTH dummy GP40 and put a pair of 2 rail Weaver GP trucks under it but, like Athearn's HO early GP35, the hood and nose are a bit too fat. I like your method, could be closer to a GP50 in that case.

@@yardhog I've got another one I did using an SD40 long hood. it was actually very easy to fit the shell onto the chassis....only some minor adjustments and filing. With the anti-climer it looks like a GP 40-2. I'll see if I can make a little movie with both of them on the point.....

Sweet, looking forward to seeing that.

B&O 4009 is a GP40, not a 40-2. 40-2 started at 4100.
