Great Video - I reckon you might need more space in 7 months time the way you guys are expanding! (maybe has two units instead) - we used to colour code our flight cases on our larger live events - so the local crew wouldn't get confused on the load in e.g Blue was FOH, Green was backstage etc etc - we also used to load the truck so that the kit would come off in the order that we wanted - I like your colour coded prep area - Shure do some really nice shock-mounts for your podium - great for gooseneck microphones

Thanks so much for your vids! I am 15 and started a DJ business about 1 year ago and you have really helped me. I want to get a lighting controller because right now i am just using QLC+ but is SoundSwitch better than WolfMix?
@carsonmiller4415 күн бұрын
In my opinion, if you analyze your songs on sound switch (you have to do it one by one) then it’s better than the wolf mix. If you don’t have time for that then wolf mix is better. I’m also a teen dj!
@DJRickWeb15 күн бұрын
Both are great and it depends on your specific work flow as to which is better

I get it you need lots of stuff for the three companies that you run but how much of all that actually goes out? Is there anything that stays at the warehouse and collects dust for years?
@DJRickWeb15 күн бұрын
Barely anything stays there. I am very adamet about selling what is not being used. The bigger production events empty out the warehouse fast. We are doing some that require multiple trailer loads of gear now

So the true boss made an appearance and waved hi, though wasn't looking that impressed... ( the cat of course ) Ok, a little more serious, is there room above the offices? That is able to put in a mezzanine floor, even as storage for the more long term stuff, eg the Xmas stuff in the warehouse 3/4 of the time, being able to put it out of the way so it doesn't take up floor space AND wont get bumped etc when other stuff is getting shifted around/loaded/unloaded. Admittedly you would need some kind of elevator for that floor.
@DJRickWeb15 күн бұрын
It's just money. Lol. And since we are leasing that would be cost effective

Damn probably not possible here in Singapore being it such as small country and everything is so expensive! But definitely would be cool to be part of such a team! Btw was wondering why do you still use the driverack 2 when technically the active speakers have good enough DSPs? Also hmm do you think a Furman Mx 88 in your case is still required or just a normal Powerstrip is good enough?
@DJRickWeb15 күн бұрын
We use it to have 3 separate outs of the main audio output. Then we can eq each out differently and set delays to get the best sound in the room
@AKSKMY15 күн бұрын
@@DJRickWeb Ah I see makes sense! What about the furman? Also is there any recommended alternative for power monitoring in addition to just power conditioning?
@DJRickWeb14 күн бұрын
I always use a furman for rack systems due to the sensitivity of the electronics being used

I don't mean to be rude, but the rate of which you are growing is ludicrous, already moving warehouses after 7 months is unheard off. What I mean is while it's impressive the rate you are growing, but aren't you expanding your business too fast, what happens if this next year is less busy than the previous, what happens if there is another pandemic. I know it's a very negative outlook, but it can happen and the problem of expanding to fast is that it requires more revenue to break even, and if God for bid that one year went poorly for business. Would you have enough money to saved up, to keep the business going for the next year. I have been watching you since 2016 back when you where compering those unbranded par lights to the ADJ mega par profile , and it's been a joy to see you grow, both as a person and also your DJing career, I just don't want to see you fail.
@davebrownentertainment719115 күн бұрын
Agreed, that was my first thought. Growth and expansion is cool, but making good steady money and having a nice financial cushion is even cooler. Pre-covid I had 6 people working for me, a big storage unit for my 8 DJ systems, a nice home on a lake, etc. Lost pretty much EVERYTHING during the pandemic, and all of my DJs quit/found new jobs. I'm slowly rebuilding, but keeping my overhead costs as low as possible, doing most of the gigs myself. Also doing live sound for bands, so all of my extra $ from DJing/running karaoke is being reinvested into that. Can't wait to get out of my mom's basement! Lol.

The side I don't really show is that I am basically a number head and a problem solver. Aka engineer. Even through all the growth we had 0 dept and are normally between 5 to 10% in net profit every year. We also have a sizable line of credit on the side lines. And of course we have thought through all the scenarios for each business and what would happen. That said the rapid growth will be more level in 2025 and coming years as all the businesses are more in a refinement scaling setup rn.
@DJRickWeb15 күн бұрын
I am a big number head and we are pretty healthy on cash flow and profit every year even though we are rapidly expanding. The ops side is pretty lean. And having 3 different companies allows us to use our employees across the divisions to not need as many heads. Plus that allows us to pivot our business in 3 different ways if needed in a pandemic
@Jimbob_Offical15 күн бұрын
@ I see, I didn’t see the other businesses as other forms of revenue streams.
@DJRickWeb14 күн бұрын
Yep! You hear about diversity in investment portfolio and the same can apply to business. Having 3 businesses allows us to invest heavily into one while retaining cash flow from the others. Or if one has a down turn the others keep the business overall in good standing. All your eggs in one basket is a gamble which can generate fast results but comes with more risk then slow growth in diversity.
