As a corporate gig guy, I highly recommend looking into NDI for projector and camera feeds. Combined with vMix, it's simple, rock solid and drastically reduces the number and type of cables you need. Everything simply runs on an ethernet network, which is infinitely expandable.

Next step could be a digital mixer for your corporate gigs. You can set your compression and gates accurately. You can also set bespoke EQ per channel which is a godsend to control vocal mics. The Midas M32R is a good rider friendly entry point which is known industry wide. Really impressed with that Optima projector - HD with good output - puts our old bulb projectors to shame. We’ve have had loads of use out of our screens so yours should prove to be a great investment.

I would highly suggest not running your delay/fill speakers in the configuration that you have them, and instead running them as traditional delays. With a "4 point" sound system like you have, you're going to have every seat in the audience getting a different arrival time ratio between the tops at the front of the room and the back of the room, totally messing with your system's coherence. Not a single person in that room had a time aligned sound experience as you have it set up right now. If you simply pushed the delay towers forward by 30-40 feet, and had them all pushing sound towards the back of the room, with time alignment between zones, you would have a MUCH more coherent sounding system, which as a sound provider should be your main goal. I think you'll notice a HUGE difference just by switching that deployment up.
@DJRickWeb
@DJRickWeb 6 күн бұрын
The time delay was set at half the distance so that it was setup more like a movie theater system. The person dead center in the room heard everything at the same time. Then volume wise it was set to not have it fade into the front or the back. Room layout didn't allow for us to move the speakers forward cus of catering / lack of outlets.
@evanturunen
@evanturunen 6 күн бұрын
@@DJRickWeb Totally understand what you’re saying, but the reason movie theater systems work, is because they’re not all playing the same content out of the same speakers at all times. It doesn’t fix the problem, but it mitigates it a lot more. Time alignment aside, the biggest issue you’re going to run into here is with coherence of your rig. It was most likely all over the place. Personally, if the issue was the room layout, I would have chosen to bring those NXLs up about 8’ higher, remove the delays, and then add front fills. Since the NXLs are so tight in the vertical, 8’ up would have missed your first half or so of the room, allowing you to come in and deploy front fills, and get the same even coverage throughout the room.

Corporate tech table is usually located at the back. In corporate the Main Character will always be the client. The tech team disappears. Since you have a dj background will give it a pass. Go get yourself a perfect cue system and some longer runs of cabling for videos. A lot of corporate events lives and dies by PowerPoint presentations so comfort monitors will be asked. Go get a much capable video and audio mixer. What you showed there are good starters and most often are used for smaller breakout rooms. If you want to cater to the bigger budget corporate gigs you need to get yourself at least a minimum of 8 lavs. One more of the stumpfl screen and another 6k projo. Corporate likes screens. And add some displays on stands. If you can mount em on truss for a better look then offer it. In terms of lighting leko’s with a couple options for lenses are the go to for stage washes with some stage uplighting for a basic package then add in some moving heads for some walk in stuff. That will depend on the type of event the show runner will want. But that makes the event a lot more lively. That back fill kinda looked awkward from where it was placed but from what you were using it for kinda makes sense. But that’s not where I’d put delays. And is that even dialed in for the delay btw? I didn’t even saw a GEQ? Was there one in the rack? I know you use the driverack but that only works for tuning the PA noh? But do you have any way of ringing out the mics? Or do you use that for both tuning and ringing out?

sennheiser IEM, could have been like you suspected, a dodgy cable buzzing. Also, check your headset buds out, plug them straight into a mixer in the headphones, as well as directly into the monitor out. Does your sennheiser have a headphone test socket on the transmutation unit? you could try the ear buds in that socket as well, just to rule out the belt pack receiver.

Hey Rick, So for my background. I djayed too but now I’m working for a Full Service Production company. I finished my apprenticeship in that company. Most of of the time we’re doing concerts. For example Ava Max, Toto babymetal etc… But we are also doing corporate stuff. For example Fashion2Night on a cruise ship. First thing nice setup. I would do some things differently. So it’s just my opinion, knowledge and of course how we would run things at our company. First things first 3:54 We bring a good monitor because it’s color accurate and contrast true very simple. And of course one of the biggest features is the connections. If you do bigger corporate stuff you will run into more sophisticated systems that don’t use HDMI. Most of our Video stuff is using SDI. So you don’t have to use any converters that could potentially degrade the signal. The important thing for why we are using such monitors is that there Panal is B rated and calibrated. You could probably colorgrade a movie on that monitor. We need such an expensive monitor so we can ensure that for example if we’re running cameras or even PTZ cameras that the Colors and contras is accurate Next thing I would recommend you buying a Digital Mixer. Yes they’re a little bit on the expensive side but the features that comes with it are enormous. I would recommend you buying a Yamaha QL1. They’re old but gold. They are running like a tank. Never had one going down so far. And you can buy theme second hand. Yamaha put out a new digital mixer and everyone is trying to get rid of the old ones. They have also feature like DANTE and 31band EQs and more. Don’t buy those cheap digital mixers like the Behringer X32 M32 or those Presonus stuff. You’re more flexible with those higher branded Digital mixers such as Yamaha QL/CL Series, Allan & Heath DLive/GLD Series or Digico. For this type of events I usually would run the Speakers in stereo and a matrix mono out to the subs. So I have control to every zone. About the back speakers I wouldn’t put them there. Put them like half the way into the room at the walls. Delay them in such a way that the sound perception is coming from the stage. It would drive me crazy if the manager is taking on the stage but the sound is coming from behind me and later delayed from the front. For the Delay speakers I would also run a mono matrix out. Sorry for that long text and my bad englisch. If you want to know more or you want me to explaine some things further. I’m more than happy to help you.

I would definitely recommend a digital mixer. The subs can be run in mono, allowing you to send only the elements that need subs (e.g., no vocal mics). You can EQ your mics, which is really important for feedback, and there are many other important features / possibilities. Last year, we ran some events with L-Acoustics KARA and SB18, which is excellent equipment for rider events. We had a band, DJs, a comedian, and a sort of talk show. None of this would have been possible without a digital mixer. If you want, I can share some videos or photos of these events or from events we hosted this year. Greetings from Germany, Jonas

I’ve been using an oil based American DJ Haze Generator for 20 years. There are way more advantages to oil based haze and it leaves NO residue ever! It is compressed and distributed in a much more even and consistent manner than heater based machines. In fact, it’s so much superior that most people don’t even know it’s in the air until the house lights come on at the end of the night. I’d encourage you to go find someone who uses one and check it out for yourself. I’m almost certain you will become an instant fan. 🎉
