You can't make everyone happy all the time, though we try too. In my humble opinion you all at FSM online or hard copy are doing a fine job. If i didnt think you were i wouldnt be here. Im not interested in Tiger tanks, i like the early german vehicles Pz1, II, III and IV. I also like the german wheeled vehicles. Actualy in 1/35 scale anything that was recon based, armored car, light half tracks, jeeps, motorcycle's thats my thing. Like miniarts new M3 tanks. Anyway thanks FSM, Have a good weekend all.

Thanks for doing a little of everything! I mainly build WW2 US, but I have learned techniques, ideas, tips, and tricks from other subjects such as axis vehicles, British vehicles, cars, boats, Gundam, and more. It's amazing how many things can cross between multiple subjects. In the end, we all enjoy and love this great hobby...that is until the next tiny piece goes flying across the room into oblivion. 🤣😅

I used to have a gripe with manufacturers who were putting out kits of axis vehicles that never saw service or some that never even went in to production, when there were still plenty of allied vehicles that did see service that were not in kit form or if they were they were expensive resin kits, but I must admit a lot of manufacturers are now putting out a lot more allied vehicles and aircraft that never got this attention before and I for one am quite happy about it.

You have to think in terms of the international marketplace. A lot of modelers want to build something other Shamans and Mustangs. Nationalism plays into it, too. (Yes, Fine Molds, I'm looking at you!)

With resin you need a way to clear the dust. A mask will help while you are sanding, but the particles will hang in the air for hours. A shop vac without a HEPA filter could just recirculate the dust. Maybe add a room air purifier to get the stuff the shop vac misses.

When color sanding a 1:1 car paint job we add some Dawn dish liquid to the water so the sanded paint doesn't stick to the car. Do you think it is a good idea for resin sanding?
@janvanrenselaar59986 ай бұрын
yes i do also a dishwasher liquid in my water when i wetsand my carbody,s. 2 reasons, first as you say,the paint dont stick and 2th the water works as a lubrificant and a remover from paint, gives a better result after sanding, but don,t push to hard, let the sandingpaper do the work

Just because I build a Fokker DR1 doesn't make me a WWI German sympathizer, nor does building a FW190 make me a Nazi. It's all history and it should be remembered. Destroying parts of the civil war memorials is wrong, the war happened, we are happy with the outcome don't let it be forgotten.

I wet-sand everything (not just resin) due to the dust-control aspect. However, a side benefit of wet sanding is that whatever you're using to sand - whether it be sandpaper, a sanding stick, or a sanding sponge - doesn't "load up", either. So you don't get that annoying build-up that makes sanding harder and can actually scratch your finish. I also wear thin nitrile gloves so my hands don't shrivel up and get the wet sanding "goop" all over them, but they still have enough feel that you can tell when a surface is smooth enough to stop sanding. As for the topic of which models you review, is the concern about which *models* you review, or which *companies*? I ask because, imho, there seems to be an inordinate amount of kits from Trumpeter, Takom, HobbyBoss, Eduard etc, and it does seem to be the same manufacturers over and over. It could be that they are the most prolific manufacturers, but hasn't say, Revell USA or Revell Germany released anything in awhile? I can't remember the last time I saw them featured for anything. Personally, I don't really care what/who gets reviewed - all new releases are welcome - but I do catch myself saying "Oh. Trumpeter again?" when they are featured for the umpteenth time and I *am* curious about other manufacturers. Just saying.

The only thing I'm unhappy with the tanks ( German) from WWII is the amount of people who cry out about the Swastica . They were on the vehicles so stop complaining.

I run a modeling forum and had someone get big mad for accurate late 1930s German markings on a vehicle. I told him the line was those markings used on historically accurate subjects were going to be allowed. Putting swastikas on any other subject, no go. People think historically accurate is endorsing the bad things attached to it, I do not see it that way. YMMV Posting this to say, keep up the good work here FSM crew!

Or, you could build them as captured with Allied markings.

My armor models consists of around 80% German it's just a more interesting array of different subject matter/vehicles. As for the swastikas that's history and history shouldn't be erased.

It seems pretty simple; if you don't like a subject, don't buy it. It's not like there is any lack of choices in this Golden Age of scale modeling. I just got a 1/16 scale Puma armored car that I pre-ordered back in January - who would have thought we would ever see that? 1/200 scale battleships? A 1/32 scale TIE fighter? Just kick back and enjoy the hobby of collecting - and very occasionally completing - the model kits you like! 🙂

Gotta agree with your simple truth. It's a great time to model
@donivanpotter27626 ай бұрын
Yeah. The swastika has been throughout history but better known for Germany WWII. It's a sensitive subject but sometimes to be accurate it needs to be used. I've done movie posters and there's questionable things but again it's still art. I've been building a 1/16th tiger 1 for over 15 years. I've tried to make everything I can function like the real tank in miniature. From making the tools out of metal and wood to using scratch made brass parts. I guess I enjoy the build, trying to figure out how things worked more than I do the finished model. My best to everyone. I don't see replies

Now, I'm one of the "why cars?!" guys. You already have a whole mag dedicated to model cars and we only have the one that has to share valuable space with aircraft, ships, figures and sci-fi among other subjects. I really don't like building cars so I don't care. Especially since your mag is more of a pamphlet now with the lower page count. It's the main reason I quit my subscription.
