FSS Palikir greets FSS Tosiwo Nakiyama in Pohnpei, FSM

On Friday, May 22, 2022, the members of the crew of the FSS Palikir, the 30 year old surveillance vessel in the FSM donated by the Australian Government went to see to greet the crew of the FSS Tosiwo Nakayama, the first of two new ships donated to replace the FSM's older vessels. FSS Palikir is scheduled to be decommissioned in early June and will make the journey to Australia to be trained on the second of the two new vessels. According to Pohnpei regulations, the crew of the FSS Tosiwo Nakayama was required to stay at anchorage for seven days after arrival. The FSS Palikir accompanied the vessel to their moorage point from a distance.

Hi Bill Jaynes. Thank you for sharing this wonderful news. I do have a friend from Kosrae who is coming back to PNI for his family stays in Mand, Madolenihmw on the FSS Tosiwo Nakayama. It is good to know that they are here and will go through proper protocols for COVID-19 and the PNI state regulations. But most of all, they made it back safely. I do hope to meet up with Kevin my friend and welcome him back after the 7 days stay. Thank you Bill for the information and for sharing this.
