We are glad to be back with another episode to discuss the latest from around FSU. It's officially BROCKtober in Tallahassee as FSU makes a change at quarterback. Mike Norvell took the gloves off in this week's press conference after falling to 1-4. We also dive into a discussion on what the hell happened to this program and its coach and what it will take to fix it. Thanks for watching and Go Noles!

I respect a coach like Brent Venables a hell of a lot more than I respect Norvel right now. They start a true freshman ON THE ROAD VS AUBURN & WIN! NOLES seem to have a phobia playing freshman! So what’s the difference? COACHING!!!!!!!!!

Thank you!! 🙏 We were fortunate compared to a lot of other places. Just power outages and a lot of clean-up to do. My heart goes out to those that just a few hours from us. It's unbelievable to see what they are dealing with.

Great show, guys! …Even though the topics throughout were all super rough to cover, le sigh. At game 2 halftime, I scolded myself for being that overly critical and pessimistic fan after saying “man, we look like we are heading back to our losing to JVille State days…!” Unfortunately, ‘tis so very true

Thank you!! 🫡 It has been rough to watch and talk about every week. We were blessed the last 2 years, but this one is putting us through it. I thought we were done with these types of seasons, but here we are again. I just hope this is somehow a one-off (or at least to this degree of suck lol). Here's to hoping a change at QB gives us a spark! Go Noles!!

Another issue with depending on the portal, is that the other programs caught on to it and now its competitive to get higher level players.

Sounds like FSU needs more full pads in practice. Most teams, even UGA, does it every Tuesday.

Like I agree like it’s like crazy how like how much like we’ve dropped. Like people say CFB is cyclical but like I feel like our turn is like way overdue because like otherwise our like cyclical time is like the shortest along like all of CFB. Like

I think the fan base is forgetting that the quality of portal selections were not like previous years. The only elite players really were Ward and Scourton (sp). Rest were guys programs didn’t mind losing like Saban said. We also need to remember that Norvell took guys from the portal that he previously recruited (MJJ, Jalen Brown, Jalen Lucas, Furgeson). He didn’t just throw darts on names on a board lol. Going forward we really do need to focus on HS. Other schools are paying up to keep their best players.

Other teams have caught up in regards to the portal, it will never be as good as it's been, it's going to be a much tougher fight to get players

Amen to that! Not saying Norvell can't fix this, but he needs to build a staff of killers on the field and on the trail. If we do end up moving on, I want a do whatever it takes kind of guy. Don't get me wrong, I like someone who does it the right way (like Bobby did), but at the end of the day, it's about wins and losses, and I'm tired of losing.

The big question is, will the O-line block better, will the receivers and TE's block, get open and catch the ball! A QB can't do it on his own!!!
@plantthespear
@plantthespear 2 күн бұрын
1000% agree. Brock can provide a spark, but he can't make guys block and catch. He needs everyone to step up around him. I think he will bring a more vocal leader approach vs. DJ, which can help motivate the team, but they still have to go get the job done.

And like I hear ya about the snub but most of the players a part of the snub aren’t on this team so most of these players didn’t have to experience that moment.
@plantthespear
@plantthespear 2 күн бұрын
You aren't wrong, but I think the snub fallout primarily affected the coaches, and the younger guys also saw a lot of their leaders walk out on them (some of which I can't blame). Over half the team this year was part of the snub, but it may not have been the starters. The other issue was that some of the carryover leaders from that team to this one were the ones holding the program hostage for more money and threatening to leave in the offseason. That individualistic mindset trickles down to the others who are influenced by them. It's just all one big mess that snowballed into the disaster we're seeing now.

I don’t think we have the talent to compete with the top programs. We don’t have that dawg mentality and it starts with the head coach. Jimbo Fisher was not only a good coach but he was a helluva recruiter. Him and his staff brought in the best talent year after year. I don’t think coach Norvell is it unless FSU is okay with being mediocre. Something I noticed about Georgia when I see their 3rd and 4th string backups come in is they play like they’re on fire. Not sure what Kirby Smart is doing to motivate every single player on his team but we can’t even get that out of our 1st team. Its sad
@plantthespear
@plantthespear 2 күн бұрын
I have to agree that right now, we don't. We have talent to be above average (pending we don't lose half of it to the portal or when the class continues to fall apart), but it's mostly the younger guys. This staff just hasn't recruited well enough. The portal is a great way to supplement a roster, but it can't be the foundation of it. We need to be signing top 10 classes more often than not, and we aren't even close to that. Good coaching can win you some games, but talent almost always reigns supreme for consistently competing for championships. I also agree that we don't have that killer mentality on this team. There have been almost no big hits, explosive plays, etc. FSU was built on having head hunters on defense and big play guys on offense, and we just don't have it right now. They have to load this roster with talent and find a way to get them to want to destroy other teams. Some changes will need to be made to get there. Unfortunately, it may take years to recover. I know people have mixed feelings on Jimbo, and for good reason, but peak era Jimbo was on another level. I hate that it fell apart at the end.

It's funny- the people who say "Willie Taggart never went 3-6" missed the part where Taggart never went 13-1. Jesus Saves! Trump 2024! Coach Norvell I'm with you!

@@ronaldburkins-lv6xk Willie Taggart = 9-12. Coach Norvell = 32-21. I'll take 32-21 over 9-12 any day! And Willie had a more talented roster than Coach Norvell by far.

Seems like you’re trying to gaslight us. Willie T was 9-12 during his less than two seasons while Mike N was 8-13 during the same period. 9 > 8 and we can see Willie is better than Mike using your logic. Let’s not forget that Mike has also lost to three G5 schools ( Jacksonville State, Memphis and SMU). Just admit that Willie T was a better coach than Mike based on his record during the same period. There is no shame in doing that. The sun will shine tomorrow.

Mike Norvel has single-handedly ruined the program! He should have replaced DJ after halftime of Memphis game. He waits, makes excuses and now WHAT HS QB would want to play IN THIS OFFENSE? IF I WAS Mike Alford I would ask how he will change toe offense to HELP BROCK & LUKE & TREVOR? I don’t think MIKE can answer & that is the problem! I know they can’t fire him BUT unfortunately until DRASTIC CHANGES R MADE NOLES PROGRAM TOAST
