FSX FULLY LOADED MAJESTIC DASH 8 - TAKE OFF

For a tiller control, if you have a twist joystick you can use that. It usually assigns a twist to rudder control. If you have rudder pedals you can assign the twist feature to the spoiler axis. In the Dash 8 control panel, assign the spoiler axis to the tiller control. It works great and has a pretty realistic feel. The downside is, if you are flying any other aircraft, the slightest twist in the stick and your spoilers will deploy. I have to unassign the twist assignment before flying.

I have a twist joystick that I used to use the twist for rudder but purchased rudder puddles. I now have the twist of the joystick assigned to the spoiler axis and then us that as the tiller axis. It works great but you have to remember to unassign it in other aircraft otherwise you will get a spoiler deployment when you don't want it...like at takeoff.

It's the torque from the props and quite normal. You need to trim rudder in this aircraft to keep it level and then re-trim every time you change power settings.

You trim it as you would any other aircraft in FSX, the exact keys and buttons you press really depends on what you have configured. Yes, there are trim wheels in this aircraft.

Hey Froogle, great vid as ever. Q400 looks like a superb piece of work. 2 questions if I may: how are you getting the head shake on the rollout? EZDock? Also, I notice some really nice dynamic shadows on the CRTs as you move around. I thought this type of effect was only available in Xplane? Keep up the excellent work.

A few constructive notes here bud. In the Q400 the Nose landing gear is actually slightly forward of where the flight crew sits. The FLIGHT/TAXI switch controls your spoilers. When in FLIGHT position the spoilers deploy if the aircraft is in the ground and the Power Levers are below certain angle; hence the amber spoiler lights coming on when u entered the runway. The FLIGHT/TAXI switch can be left in TAXI and it will move automatically to the FLT position when the PL pass certain angle.

The answer to both those questions is: rudder trim. Forget trimming the ailerons, on this baby you will be using rudder trim constantly - basically every time you change power. Best to bind it to some keys and keep the triangle centered with the bar below on your EFIS.

From the imperial speed card. Based on the runway elevation at takeoff and the weight of the aircraft, the speed card shows a climb speed of 185.

Hi Froogle. Im trying to get to grips with the Majestic Q400. Two questions if I may; 1) on takeoff the aircraft veers to the left. Is that normal? 2) in flight, whilst in 'level' flight the aircraft is banking slightly to the left. My aileron trims are nuetral. If I use the trim to try and correct the issue my wings bank the other way. Do you any suggestions. Also, excellent videos. Always enjoy watching these. Please keep up the great work :) Thank you.

On my system I find that wile climbing if I put the rudder trim to about 5-7 units of left trim that it works great. As I reduce Condition levels to 850 at cruise, I reduce the trim to about 3 units left trim.

Just also as an FYI. The condition leavers should be at MIN for taxiing! It is moved to MAX just before takeoff. Great video!!

Hello Froogle I've a question when you reach V1, VR speed at about 10:11mins does the plane takeoff on its own or you pull back the yoke, or once you rotate the plane follows the takeoff path .I hear you say the plane actually takeoff on its own. ?

I have the tiller bound to the yoke. So on the ground I turn the yoke and that turns the tiller.

Incorrect rudder trim - that's what causing it. This airplane needs many rudder trim corrections whenever changing power. Do not mistake this with aileron trim.
