Froogle, you don't need to enter the arrival airport right after the departure one in the FMS. You could have just entered KPIT, followed by the first waypoint (KODIE). To enter airways, just select the last waypoint and do exactly what you did. When you're done with the route, just enter the destination airport and you're done. Brilliant flight. Just like being there! I think that black line during push back was just the shadow of the tow-bar and not a skid mark due to the tires not being turned. If it were modeled that detailed, it would be quite the quirky detail.

Thanks for posting this. The Q400 is a difficult beast to learn, mostly because I am so used to the autothrottle and often forget that it doesn't have one. I especially had problems with ILS approach, always forgetting to switch NAV source etc. I am looking forward to learn a lot from this.

My "Fully loaded" series of videos normally have footage from 2 or more computers running simultaneously - one running the sim, the others working on weather, planning, tracking etc etc. They are invariably extremely detailed as well as a result, focussing on every single nitty gritty detail of how to get the aircraft in the air, en-route and landed using all available data.

Nice vide froogle thanks for the effort, just a little note, you dont have to put the destination airport right after the point of departure, you can just enter KPIT then KODIE in the next line and the rest of the route and then put the destination at the end of all of that then select the STAR, just quicker that way instead of having to insert a GAP

Normally I don't have the problem as I have levers bound to all the levers in the cockpit, ie one for left condition, one for right condition, one for left power etc etc. Recording this though (as I mentioned to someone else) was my fourth attempt to get it right and I actually didn't have my controls hooked up.

You do make a great point and I'm going to think that through some more. On this one it's a route I haven't flown, so I thought it worth breaking it down. V1 is the same as VR but V2 is different than VR. Makes more sense to say that the decision speed is the same as rotation speed. Plus, it says on the speed card : FLAPS 5° Vr/V2

BTW in the Q400 V1 and Vr are usually the same except for takeoff from a wet runway, not Vr and V2 ;)

Hi Froogle Have you tried the electronic flight bag for the Dash 8?It can be found on the majestic web site under "Resources"and it will do the take off and landing calculations for you.

I noted your problem syncing the start throttles. Since patch 1 I too have had this issue which in flight dropping the RPM down to 850 sometimes goes past this and I end up having to shut down an engine in flight and restart it. Very frustrating

I know this video is over half a year old but I'm curious, why did you set up the route like you did with the putting KPIT then KEWR, then doing the INT/ GAP stuff and putting in the waypoints between the two airport codes? I set up the Majestic Dash-8 FMC pretty much like the way I setup the PMDG aircraft. I put in the departure airport code, my route then arrival airport code last and it works 100%

the radar on this thing probably only emits a signal the power of 5-10 handheld radios, a 1,000,000W AWACS Radar doesn't even cause issues on the ground.

well i've given up on the dash 8. I love it. But i cannot for the life of me figure out why i keep losing control of the elevators, then it just wants to pull up. Have to hold the stick full forwards just to get it to fly level. Pissing me right off

ı don't have the problem either, but since ver 1.7, the plane turns like a jumbo jet while taxiing. front wheel steering is on but ı cannot maneuver.

Hey, i got a problem with my q-400. After starting up and taxing to runway. The plane acts normaly until takeoff. The plane begins to bank left suddenly, even in air. But, if i shut down the engine in air, and start it up again, its back to normal. Whats the problem?

Pulling is normally a function of torque and yes that is prevalent in the Q400. I'm not entirely sure why it would go away though after restarting the engine.

+Michael Gronau These days "he" uses PFPX which provides the fuel required based on the flight plan and payload, or he uses simbrief.com to do the same (which I think is still free)

@RefleX525...You are way off..Firstly, AWACS don't run the Radar on the ground because of the safety factors that include causing serious injury and/or death to a person that get too close, not to mention the purpose of that system is far different then a weather radar system. Secondly, radar has a directional beam and acts very much like a microwave oven and I'm sure you know what they do to food. A handheld radio is no where close to radar.

RefleX525 I flew thousands of hours on AWACS running intercepts. Our radar was shown in a test to ignite steel wool at 200 yards with a millisecond burst. We also stop radar transmitting during Air to Air Refueling. We don't allow escort aircraft within specific parameters due to risks associated with the trons the radar pukes out. You have zero idea what you are talking about.

You are talking a very high power air search radar, designed to identify and track small aircraft from hundreds of miles away, this is a low power weather radar. Same concept but its all about the wattage.
