Congratulations Nils! I'm absolutely fan of these kind of videos. I really enjoy hearing your thougths, fears, mistakes and all kind of stuffs you shared with us that proves that competitors are humans as well. What an inside picture of a race! 10/10. Keep going! Best luck!

Hi, thanks for the comment, was thinking if i make a kind of "highlight" video or the format like this with the full races, I'm glad the reception is so positive as I thought it might be to long with showing the full races.

Just a FANTASTIC video of your racing. It did look like a pretty tough day, weather wise. Just remember, there are so, so many of us who would love to be able to sail as well as you. Loved that you were able to show the start clock count down and your speed. Thanks Nils.

Probably my favorite video of yours. you really brought us into the inner circle of racing, including the highs and the lows.

This is the true world and that was a true race. I think you did very well. You have the speed, you have the jibe (judging from previous videos) and you have the strength and determination. The next race will be a surprise to you because I think you will do much better. Many thanks for uploading this video and I enjoyed it tremendously.

This brings back memories! I remember thinking I was pretty good at windsurfing until I took up racing. Racing was a cold slap of reality for me, but I kept at it and eventually had some success. I also remember doing dumb stuff like missing marks. I totally understand that when you're out there in the heat of the moment, not everything goes according to plan. Anyway, thanks for posting this great video!

I admit I was initially daunted by nearly 25min of video, but you did a very engaging narration and the images were super fun to watch (esp. your chop-hopping competitors-- typical Ringkøbing conditions 😂). Still don't understand the point system (people who do better in races do more races-- shouldn't they accumulate more points automatically?), but the heat/elimination/final system makes a little more sense now 😉 Thanks for posting and hoping to see you do more slalom! ☺

Nice with a real world footage. A question: As you actually don't go that fast, and your jibes are mostly non-planing because of the harsh conditions, what would happen if you went on freeride gear, which is supposed to jibe safer and be more controlled? Does it make sense to the overall speed? All the best Per

Nice, I was waiting to see the apocalytic conditions video! It didn't seem as bad on camera compared to the live of Ben Profitt and the pictures you showed but you were probably not sailing during the peak of the storm. Little tip for the video editing, maybe don't include the results of the race at the start (even if you cropped the position, it is obvious it is sorted by rank given the PWA names at the top) and only put the results at the end of the race. Otherwise the editing was very nice and engaging to follow the 25min video :).

Try wearing your watch high on the arm close to the ampit, that way you don't have to lift your hand off the boom all the time to check the time on the startline, you just turn your head. For better racing, one should practice gybes on buoys, you got tired due to the technique on the gybe - not planning. On the survival conditions a 5.3-5.5 would be have been better if you had one, specially on medium board, also a smaller fin. Nice video of the racing, looked like everybody had a lot of time on the water and a lot of fun!
@WindsurfingNils4 ай бұрын
good tips, thank you, the sail sizes was okay, 6.0 was good, but the medium board was lifting to much, small one would have been perfect (97l) to keep the control on the chop/waves

Don’t know which fin you’re using, but I have a CH35cm that I use with the same board and a 6.2 AC1 and it works pretty well in strong winds. Also tried the 34cm, but it starts to get too small for my taste.

The konts which are shown in the bottom right corner actually don't really match with the hand of the speedometer. I wonder whos right, the number or the hand?^^ But thats just something I noticed. Nice video as always. Edit: Or maybe the 10 and 20 markers are just not where the big lines are and I'm just reading it wrong? Not sure TBH^^

Great. everybody gets a "final" ...... just like in kindergarten. everybody wins !!!! 🙂 well done for your overall result. Enjoying yr videos with Mario's. I used to do bad gybes in racing ... it all comes down to being forced to gybe THERE and not where YOu want 🙂 Same with the waves etc. Just like skiing. I could do anything I wanted but make me go around fixed poles in a slalom and I just lost it. Slalom is a lot about practice, practice, practice and "forcing" your way through ! The PWA guys are built like trees ... and über fit!
