They tried to take the cool elements from the FT1 put them on a BMW Z4 and botched the Supra in the process. What a joke. They should have just produced the FT1 AS THE NEW SUPRA. Such a disappointment 😔

I was just about to say something similar...I was waiting with baited breath for the concept to turn into a production car...then it did with a dulled down version complete with smaller wheels, 4x4 ride height, an active spoiler that got lost in translation, and softer lines overall. I woulda lived with the bimmer engine, if the rest made it, but you lost me Toyota...not interested anymore. The production version is downright ugly by comparison.

@supramaniac502 (I got a notification for your comment, but I don’t see it here, maybe you deleted it), but so you know, a Viper cost around 60 grand in the mid 90s, and that translates to about 100 grand today because of inflation. Plus with how strict emissions regulations are getting for new cars, manufacturers have to shoot for much higher volumetric efficiency from the lot meaning you just won’t be able to get as much power out of newer cars and with the push for ADAS (all the expensive new sensors and such), the base price of cars is getting very difficult for manufacturers to keep down.

Thats what im saying, and i keep telling people even if the concept came to reality but just maybe toned down a lil. It still would have shared components with the Z4, electronics and engine (which the engine that toyota made BMW re-build and test over and over again and almost canned the whole project). The FT-1 concept didn't even have a engine in it. It had a small electric engine under that engine cover to move it around, it was just a empty shell with the interior made out of cheap plastic and aluminum because they probably spent all the money on the exterior.

Man got to love that car that I saw five years ago. If the ft1 was out that car would be competing with the new router that is coming from Tesla. Some say the Ft1 was going to be 100k or around but the new rouster is $200k that would have been a good comparison. I just read that the ft 1 was going to be full electric just like a tesla car. And back in those days I thought my self this car will have a V8 engine, but since this was Toyota I was always like not way. Now I know it was going to be full electric like a tesla again. Such a shame they did this to the artists behind all this project. I actually love it in red color. But 100k is pricy. But not compare to the new rouster for 200k that is double pricy right there. Im pretty sure Toyota thought no too many will buy it at 100k. Tesla that is facing more financial is going to sell it at that price. And Toyota being the King of Japan is just a dumb moved. They should had took the risk just like Tesla. Beautiful red car for 100k I think is acceptable. Even the rouster is acceptable but yeah pricy but compare to other cars that run on the million dollar range the rouster in a win. Rip my ever favorite Toyota car.
