All power to you Stu. Good luck with the journey with this one. Gorgeous looking set. Take care too when tinkering with the old girl!

Wishing you all the best with the repair - just be careful as those big capacitors can bite....

As an amatuer myself Stu I fully restored an Ultra T401 radio this year for the first time. Hardest part (for me) was finding the correct tubes and those large can type capacitors - but there's nothing more satisfying! The thing now receives SW better than the IC7300 with a long wire 😂 Stay safe!

A real radio, from the days when you could climb inside and repair them. Power to your elbow Stu.

Having grown up in the transistor age anything with valves equates to steam driven in my books but funnily I love valve driven guitar amplifiers ! What I do know is that when old electronics start breaking you are in for a long haul - either a complete strip down clean and repair or multilpe breakdowns and repairs. Give me modern equipment every time so it can be used, not fussed over. Life is too short. 73 M7BLC

Introducing the PA circuit will have put some strain on the power supply area in general and obviously it is showing with component failure. Recapping around the higher capacity RF area is definitely worth while and will hopefully be in whatever kit you have bought. I’m sure you will already know this but make sure you test every component you remove so you have an idea where the issue or issues are. I think you’re going to have fun with this one but it looks like it will be worth it as that is in superb internal condition. Good luck buddy

Good grief. Was about to write a stupid comment, but you've banned them. All the best Stu ;-)

@@G5STU OK then... as much as I like watching and being an occasional visitor to your livestreams, I do like your "real world" radio work, such as this video, and the fitting of the FT891 into your jalopy. Variety is the spice of life, allegedly, so keep it going please Stu! Really appreciate the latest updates to Station Master 2.0 (beta). Great stuff. By the way - have you tidied your radio-filled sofa yet? It was terrible! If you would like to throw any radios you don't need my way, I'm coming past (ish) your way on the 6th September, and going back past (ish) on the 8th September!

Which Deoxit you have used for the Mode switch? I found different kinds of that stuff. 73 DH9MM

I have DeoxIT D5S-6 Spray, found it on amazon, not sure if it's a good choice or not though.

@@G5STU Thank you very much, i suppose it worked as intended. I was trying out some spays on several occasions, with more or less successful results. I am currently fixing a Stabilock 4031 Testset, with a wierd flickering crt. 73
