FTC files lawsuit against Amazon alleging monopolistic practices

The Federal Trade Commission is accusing Amazon of being a monopoly that illegally smothers competitors and takes money out of customers’ pockets. However, Amazon says if the FTC gets in the way, it’ll mean fewer products, higher prices and other issues. NBC News’ Jacob Ward shares more on the antitrust lawsuit.

All companies (Target, Macy’s, Walgreens, Walmart etc), offer their house brands next to the best selling national brands. Most time, the packaging are very similar in design. Is the anti-business Biden administration going to sue all USA retail business? Biden’s line about anti-monopoly in order to lower prices for consumers is BS. I used to worked for a company that sell at Amazon, we adjust our prices to be competitive against our competitors. Amazon gets a “commission” from the sales. They don’t care who sells the merchandise. This if a company is big, it must be evil attitude shows how stupid our government had become.

You're right about one thing...ALL gigantic corporations should be investigated, and made to pay the same taxes as everyone else. I own a small business, and recently I went to the Amazon website to find a few supplies. I was left in shock. Items that I had purchased elsewhere that cost approximately a dollar a dozen were being sold there for TEN DOLLARS a dozen. I have a relatively good grasp on how costs and profit margins work, and found this discrepancy outrageous! I'm all for free enterprise, but I also recognize price gouging when I see it. Corporate america must be monitored, and held to some sort of standard, just as every other person and business is.

Every product and every seller should be fair and equal opportunities. If you are looking for something you will find it even now. Yes, some products are advertised, perhaps because they pay for it. It would cause slower shipping, because not all retailers are inline, or provided at amazon shipping centers, but that would be at the wait of the consumer. If a customer desires for items only specifically or does a general search, you would find the exact brand you would be looking for. If your desire is for seamless shopping, for items of general, 'Ships from Amazon.' Something similar was said about web search engines. If it's the nature of the beast, or intentionally being suppressed on purpose.
