Problems with diamond: - If it's natural, you're supporting a trade that is brimmed with slave labor and malpractices - If it's lab grown, you're paying for something at a ridiculous premium, simply because all the diamond labs were bought by natural diamond companies which fixed the prices, and you end up supporting the same companies at the end - Diamonds are not that rare, unlike gold and silver. To convince the average consumer into paying more is almost a crime. It's like calling aluminum "light silver" and charge 10 times the price. A diamond drill cost $1 because diamonds are that cheap to make. - Moissanite has almost the same thermal conductivity and hardness as diamond, at 1% of the cost. Is diamond 1000% more brilliant? - To pay thousands for a lab grown diamond vs moissanite is crazy as you're not paying for the story of some rock sitting in the earth for "millions of years" anymore. By the way, your granite kitchen countertop is 1.6 to 2.7 billion years old.

Actually, these stones aren’t cubic zirconia- literally diamond to the atomic construction. A few years ago someone in material science figure out how to “grow” genuine diamonds with miracle of modern technology and science. It’s atomically the same thing. There was an interesting documentary about the development of the technology- I think the inventor was a father son duo in Massachusetts. As the technology became perfected the diamond monopoly got scared and has been trying to control lab diamonds production by lobbying for special labels. The diamond industry has been a monopoly that capitalized on poor countries and labor that includes slaves and children. There is no way to guarantee ethical sourcing (and they’ve tried). The monopoly doesn’t want the price of diamonds to tank with the introduction of lab grown diamonds. Labs can make a nearly infinite supply of perfect large real diamonds. synthetic diamonds are absolutely the same chemically and in every othewr way, and even more beautiful because they have no flaws and are ethically sourced....GROWN in a lab. However diamond simulant refers to either CZ, white sapphire, moissanite, or something else. A smart shopper could get a ring more beautiful than one for thousands more, if they did a little research on how to choose the best kind of diamond simulant... synthetics are quite expensive, and will test the same as a diamond. White sapphires requirre light from beneath to shine through, and go badly dull and cloudy when dirty, but even when clean they have far less sparkle. A moissanite has MORE fire than a diamond, and can save money but still cost a couple to a few thousand but usually under 5 for a decent stone that would be tens of thousands as a diamond with good color and clarity. and CZ are cheap, but they scratch easily, and lose their brilliance pretty quickly because of that... ( I researched this very recently lol) you are correct though, synthetic diamonds are chemically and visually exactly the same thing, but perfected.... so long as the seller isnt calling a "simulant" to be a synthetic or genuine diamond, I dont see the problem. If youre going to spend several thousand dollars you should know what you are getting, so these people should pay attention. Looks to me they WERE told, and even explained it in writing, and in my opinion that IS enough, contrary to what the ftc lady says...(sorry for rambling, I liked your comment, because youre right. and I wanted to elaborate)

T Crider just curious, how was the place able to tell what was natural or lab created

Only buy lab created diamonds or moissanite Diamonds created in labs are also real and will test as real unless it’s not a diamond at all. Even moissanite will test as a diamond on many machines. When you order your jewlery from places like Nexus gives you all the information. Can’t believe people still want blood diamonds

Would you rather have a diamond mined with slave labour? Or something that looks exactly the same made in a lab?
@stefannydvorak79194 жыл бұрын
SD 619 Huh? Obviously, the sign of your financial success is people suffering for you! A quality woman DESERVES to be given an overpriced piece of carbon, obtained by hours of slave labor and unethical practice! Bring forth the diamonds! (I’m being sarcastic , by the way).

The only reason I'd want a real diamond is to be able to sell it once i get divorced.

@@Stay_in_your_lane_F00LLet's not go there. I've actually been divorced because my ex husband became an abusive heroin addict. A ring to sell would've been nice but he pawned mine without telling me.

Personally, I prefer a moissanite over a diamond. It has a rainbow sparkle and has more fire and refraction than a diamond.

I agree they are far more dazzling, and flawless, full of colorful fire, guilt free, far less expensive to where you can get a stone that will cover most of your finger space, for around 3 to 5k, when a diamond that size would be 30k+...

Jewelry is way overpriced anyway. Retailers play on buyers emotions and take advantage of you, just like funeral homes.

right, ever see the STUNNING simulated diamonds at walmart? Theyre crystals, with excellent diamond style cuts. And far prettier than the cloudy diamonds walmart sells...lol

Well malls have "luxury brand" stores like Gucci, so I would be surprised if there weren't pretty high-priced jewelry stores as well.
