I am a cis female, just sort of saying before commenting on the question so you know where the answer is coming from. As far as I am aware the experience is not physically different, but I have heard of smaller instruments being used on trans men. what the doctor does differs based on whether or not you've had sex before. If there are no actual issues and no need, the first time might even go without an examination (at least for cis women). Things you should be ready for in case of an examination are as follow: a chair where you have to put your legs up wide and high (sounds scarier than it actually is), cold instruments that are covered with lubricant and inserted in the area that then spread the are wider for the doctors to be able to see further (also sounds way worse than it is, it's just cold as hell, but it is not a painful experience, just a weird one), swabs might have to be taken, those are a piece of cake and there is nothing scary about them, the doctor might and often does have to insert fingers inside in order to examine certain parts of the area,2 fingers are inserted, the other hand is put on the stomach and the doctor presses and feels around to be able to determine that everything is in order. And again, it sounds worse than it is. While it is intrusive, you should always remember it is a doctor doing these things for your health. I was scared the first time I went, I had my mother with me so I wasn't as scared as I could have been. But it was way smoother than I expected and now I have no problems whatsoever. I know mentally the experience is very different for you, because there are extra things that worry you, but if you do need to see a doctor like that, you should do so. Health is very important and minor things that can be easily remedied can turn into things much worse. I have not talked about it in detail with trans men, so there might be some things done differently physically. But as far as I've talked about it with them, it's scarier just on a mental level. I would suggest bringing someone with you, because that is totally fine to do. Be it a relative, a friend or a partner. Just to calm your nerves. A good doctor will explain everything they're doing so if they're not doing that, demand them to. It will bring you peace and will help with the anxiety of the appointment. And depending on where you are from I've heard asking if the doctors have experience with trans men can be a blessing. I'm European, but I have a trans male friend from USA and he did say there is a difference if the doctor has experience or not. So I would suggest asking that when making the appointment. It should help with the worrying as well, because you will know the doctors have experience and are not assholes. Depending on what you are more comfortable with you can also ask for a male or female doctor. It's not something set in stone and if one would make you more uncomfortable you have the right to ask specifically for a male or female doctor. P.S. The first time the doctor might also want to examine the chest region, it is nothing scary either, just feeling for lumps that shouldn't be there, takes just a moment of light pressing around the area with 3 fingers and that's all. Hope this helps at least a little with being prepared to what might happen during such an appointment.
@Hihihihello28 жыл бұрын
Kevin Lee to add onto Comment before, but if you are scared of going to a gynecologist you could always call the office and ask them if they have any experience with FTM, or you can even go in to meet with the doctor to get comfortable without the exam, and then schedule an exam for a later date. I hope any of this helps! It's very important to make sure every part of you is healthy! Good luck on your search!

In addition to eating sugary foods, using lubrication that is glycerine based (which is similar to glucose) can cause yeast infections (there's a reason why when you bake bread, in order to make the yeast more effective, it's recommended to add a pinch of sugar to it - yeast loves sugar and will grow exponentially if it can feed off of it). So generally it's a good idea for anyone with a hoo-ha to avoid glycerine based lubes.

Know this is old, but as a woman, I can offer up some tips and tricks to help prevent Yeast infections for your viewers (both FTM and Cis). Yogurt. Is. Your. Friend. Having at least one yogurt a day, low in sugar, goes a LONG way into helping your whoo ha health! Also, wearing cotton underwear or loose fitting underwear (which I know is not usually a big problem for men) goes a long way to keeping the area dry and clean. Keep in mind, penis's can also get yeast infections, so intercourse during this time is highly not recommended! The reason that sugar in your diet can lead to more yeast infections, is because Yeast LOVES sugar, and yes it can eventually make its way down below (hence the idea that pineapple makes you 'taste' sweeter for both men and women)* *Sorry for the bit of adult content on that comment.

What is not always known is you can get a yeast infection from antibiotics. I went to the hospital for a abcess tooth, the Dr put me on antibiotics. A week later I was on the phone to my sister freaking out because I had no clue what was going on, I had never had one. My sister laughed, told me what it was i grabbed the cream and pill stuff from pharmacy and cleared right up

Also, regarding UTIs, they don't always present the same way. Sometimes you'll have some symptoms but not others. This happened to me recently and I didn't initially realize what the problem was until it got bad. This video is so helpful in that regard. Had I seen it ages ago, I wouldn't have nearly been hospitalized for a kidney infection. Thanks for this.

also sugary foods causing yeast infections is because sugar/starch is like super food for yeast. When you eat loads of sugary stuff, basically you're giving yeast its most favorite food and therefore it grows, because you're feeding it.

I also can't find what symptoms may still persist when you're on t since the ☆~monthly thing~☆ goes away and most endometriosis symptoms are most prominent during that time of the month. Great video, both educational and funny. I do like that you're avoiding certain words for those of us who are not comfortable hearing them in regards to themselves, and I also realise I have some advantage with that for me it doesn't matter which words I or others use about my own parts as long as they're at least not entirely off. I tend to stick with anatomically correct words when talking to others about myself, but use other words that I prefer more when it's just in my thoughts and such. I guess for me, making sense and being understood well is more important than which words make me feel slightly better. But I get that it's different for others and I do respect that. Well, in the end, words are just words for me. In other aspects too.

My mom found me unconscious on the bathroom floor and took me to the hospital. I was in the hospital for a month and was hardly conscious for the first 2 weeks of being there due to the over a hundred degree fever I had, if I hadn't started getting better when I did I would've had to be air lifted outta the hospital in a helicopter to a different hospital. Sex in the front hole alone can also give you a UTI, which is why it's important to urinate after sex. To kind of clean the piping. If you feel a UTI coming on (mild itching in the urethra) if you drink A LOT (like.. A LOT) and urinate A LOT you can wash out the infection. Doesn't have to be cranberry juice, but it can be easier to stomach than a million litres of water, haha. Only applicable to a mild infection! If there's blood or severe pain or anything other than a mild irritation go the the doctor!

Yes, sugary foods can trigger an yeast infection because the candida albicans (the actual yeast fungus) feeds on sugar. As you said there´s yeast in the who-haa by default and an hormonal imbalance, stress and a lot of other things can trigger an imbalance of your who-haa microflora allowing the yeast to increase. If you than happen to provide food for it i.e. sugar - it can easily get out of what your body can control ... So, cutting out sugar rigorously will help you to restore that balance in your who-haa. (just to be clear, I´m taking about the white, refined processed stuff; not the sugar contained in fruits.)

She was in so much pain I almost had to take her to the hospital. She was feverish, had chills and a lot of pain in the abdomen and back. Always be careful even at the doctors office. Another tip is to always pee after sex to flush out the urethra. Also good hygiene in the area is critical too. Always have clean hands if you are gonna touch down there as well.

Some more BV facts: BV is the most common hoohah infection for people between the ages of 15-44. 2 in 5 people who have a hoohah will get BV at some point but 84% of them won't realize it bc they either don't have any symptoms or the symptoms will be mild enough that they won't notice. Having BV makes you 60% more likely to contract an STI and far more likely to pass an STI on to a sexual partner (statics say 3x more likely to pass on to a partner who has a penis but I wasn't able to find anything about partners who also have hoohahs). That said, BV is more common among people who have sex with people who also have hoohahs although the reason for this is currently unknown because BV is not sexually transmitted. Some lubricants can increase your risk of developing BV, such as oil based or petrochemical based lubricants, lubricants that contain alcohols, glycerin, parabens, and nonoxynol-9 (spermacide). Petrochemical based lubricants in particular have been found in some studies increase risk of BV as much as 22%. BV can also increase your risk of pelvic inflammatory disease.

If you're still in high school the school nurse should have a unisex bathroom in her office that you can use. That's the only bathroom I used at school all of senior year. If you talk to your counselor and nurse and tell them you're not comfortable using the gendered bathrooms (you can make up a different reason about not feeling safe if you don't want to come out) then there shouldn't be an issue. If you're not in school and are still uncomfortable, make sure you always have a friend with you when you go places. I used to make my friend come with me every time I went to the bathroom. That way if anyone tries to start something you have someone who can step in or back you up. Plus they're less likely to say or do anything if you're not alone.

Be careful when treating a yeast infection! BV and yeast infections have very similar symptoms and if you use yeast infection meds on BV it can be HORRIBLY painful. If you can afford it, I promise going to the doctor is a much safer alternative. If you still are set on over the counter, I recommend the brand honey pot. They also have a wash that you can use to keep your yeast & other stuff in check day-to-day.

yeast infections: can be caused by a pH imbalance, and eating a lot of sugar can throw off the pH of any part of your body, including the V... this allows the yeast to grow at an abnormal rate. yeast infections are contagious and spreadable. if you have a yeast infection, you may also have thrush, and even dandruff can become worse. basically all the natural flora in your body can overgrowth, so if you have one, be on the lookout for the others...

I know this video is pretty old, but around my 4 or 5 month mark on T, I was having some itching and irritation down there, and I was thinking it might be a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis. I went to the doctor, and it wasn't either. So then I talked to the doctor who prescribed my T and she prescribed me an estrogen cream (Estrace) to balance the hormones down there. I'm sure there are other forms of the medicine available (like pills). I don't know if the pills affect the entire body, but the cream was localized to that area and thus only affected that area. I suppose some of us can be more sensitive to the effects of hormones and feel like we have infections. Also I believe if you have bacterial vaginosis and attempt to use an internal yeast infection medicine (because you didn't know if it was BV or a yeast infection), it's likely to burn really badly. So if you're not positive if it's a yeast infection or BV, see a doctor instead to avoid the possibility of having intense burning down there.

As humans do, yeast respires glucose. Excess glucose from a sugary diet sometimes isn't reabsorbed from kidney tubules (so that the blood glucose level doesn't get too high) so that would mean it'd be excreted in urine. Then I suppose any residual urine left in that area after urinating would be an excellent nutrient source for yeast, allowing it to respire more and therefore reproduce at a higher rate. A level Biology wahey, lovely stuff... :P

Also, in my experience (not scientifically tested or validated to my knowledge) caffeine an foods with added and/or synthetic sugars really increase the quantity of UTIs.

I actually had a yeast infection when I was like 6 or 7. Lucky I don't really remember it.

yeast feeds on sugar, fun fact! not always the kind people usually eat but sugar nonetheless. that might b why its more likely to have too many yeasties if you eat a lotta sugar

We have 3 bathroom passes for every 9 weeks at school, after we run out of those and have to use the restroom, it's either after-school detention or ISS, so...yikes.

I don't know if anyone has said this but whenever i bake bread with yeast, i put a bit of sugar in the yeast water cause the lil yeasts love love love to eat it, it makes the yeast rise faster. maybe putting more sugar in your body makes the yeast eat and reproduce more quickly? idk that might be silly

Oh, God. I am terrified of going to the gynecologist. I hate going. I get panic attacks. I'm getting an ultrasound next week and I'm afraid that I'm going to have to deal with some uterine issue. I already have fibroids. I'm afraid of all the things that can happen including...oh god...Cancer.
