Quick medical tip. Short facial hair has the same tensile strength as copper wire. So, you have to soak it in warm water and leave it for three minutes to soak it, It reduces the tensile strength a lot and saves your razors. Also, I found that with cheap razors I wrecked my skin and had bad razor rash, but with expensive razors I did not. I therefore use the gillete fusion - works perfect BUT they have a problem with testing on animals, so you should think about whether you wish to support that by buying them - for me, I have no real choice as no other razor works without rash, so I buy it despite the company's issues with animal testing.

I feel absolutely blessed to be from a very hairy family, I'm 2 months on T and I'm already starting to be able to grow visible facial hair, especially on my mustache and neck area. That being said, it's very patchy and looks pretty dumb if I let it grow out. I'm an only child and I was raised by a single mom, so needless to say I needed a dad figure to teach me how to shave, thanks fam!

Have you checked your testosterone and estrogen levels? Facial hair can be a symptom of higher levels of testosterone or lower estrogen (or both, since they interact with eachother).
@novaeir76027 жыл бұрын
I also get facial hair. A small mustache, lil patches on both sides of my chin, and patchy sideburns. I’m eventually gonna go to the doctor and get a blood test to check my hormone levels. I am definitely a lot hairier all over than I should be pre-T. In fact I’m kinda scared I have PCOS and if I take estrogen I’ll find I’m not trans at all and that scares me a lot.

so im a barber and you should totally wet a towel in water throw it in the microwave and let it stay on your face for about a min it will open your pores and its just extremely relaxing and probably invest on a straight razor or a safety razor there around like 12 dollars on amazon but there the best things you can get for shaving especially for sensitive skin and apply some beard oil at the end if your face is dry
@zlopez-steele33626 жыл бұрын
chrissa b also it helps to have a wetter lather too. This is coming from someone who is studying to be a barber.

Hey Ty! Using an old fashion safety razor is so much better for the environment than disposable ones, plus it gives a closer shave and saves you a lot of money in the long run. You should look into getting one if you haven't already!

Anywho, I found this company about 6 months ago called Harry's and I fell in love with their products. I have pretty sensitive skin and their gel and razors are the only ones that don't irritate me. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case you wanna check them out. Keep up the great work with your channel! You're such an inspiration

Im very hesitant to start T - and I still manage to grow a pretty decent neckbeard. ._. Also Ty, oils arent so bad for a acne prone face! They just need to be of the right balance. Shoving all that moisture into your skin will reduce sebum levels ^^ Paula's Choice does a really good job of explaining.
@TyTurner8 жыл бұрын
Good to know!!! I'll look into that, thanks man!
@HalTheAl8 жыл бұрын
No problem! You couldn't see my face through the inflamed pimples at age 13 x_x Went through everything from pro activ to 3 years worth of antibiotics. Now my face is radiant and straight up glows if ive freshly applied my bha solution :P But yeah, paulas choice ftw when it comes to skin care. The dermatologists put real work into providing references as to why some things work better than others.
@krakebolle82048 жыл бұрын
If you want to get rid of acne (like permanently), just do it the "rough way". Get an appointment with a dermatologist and ask to get on a isotretinoin cycle. I'm a cis guy and had pretty bad acne a few years ago. Tried all the creams, lasers and antibiotics. They don't work good at all, and if they do its only temporarely. It closes the skin pores significantly, but you need to do blood check every 2-3 months. Its 2-3 years since I stopped the cycle (im 22 now) and I only get like one pimple in my face or the chest area every month. I don't need to use any type of skin cream anymore.

My old roommate was shaving one day and he started talking to me about it and he just looked at me deadpan and said "Forget all that fancy oil and foam shit. Don't spend your money on that extra crap. All you need is hair conditioner and after shave." Best advice though, especially if you are on a tight budget. I just lather up some conditioner when I shave my hair line back a bit (I square it out, nifty passing tip I picked up) and it works! I don't use after shave though, don't really need it for that, but the conditioner is slick and lubricated enough to make an easy shave. You don't even need much, I just dab some on with my fingers and get it wet. Works like a charm.

One trick is to stretch the skin so it's taut. Hence those weird faces some guys make while shaving. Kinda pursing their lips to one side or the other, curling their lower lip up and over their teeth, things like that. Taut skin makes the hair stand up more.

I find I get the best shaves when I shave with only oil. I like coconut. trim face fuzz down, wash & exfoliate, take as much solid coconut oil as needed warming it up by rubbing it in hands till its liquid. put it on and shave with the grain. I use a single blade, because ive found that anything more than that just irritates my skin and causes razor bumps. after I use a bit of soap just to get ride of the old oil left from the shave. I rinse with could water and pat dry, then rehydrate with a little oil. It's good for skin and smells awesome. *note I have really dry skin naturally so the oil doesn't lead to break outs for me like it might for some people.
