If only there were a file manager that let you securely browse remote directories this way ... docs.kde.org/stable5/en/extragear-utils/krusader/remote-connections.html

Hello and thank you for your comment! Definitely not claiming that this is the _only_ way to do things... Rather, just showing off something that worked well to streamline my workflow, is FOSS, and works on Windows =)

Does the Windows file manager allow for plugins that do this kind of thing?

I've no idea! Never tried to look for something like that. I've looked specifically for something that integrates into a text editor, and handles uploads and downloads seamlessly in the background, and this plugin did the job flawlessly.

Maybe you should look more into Linux? Learn about computing capabilities beyond those available in Microsoft Windows.

I have actually been using Linux on and off for the past 8 years. Not an expert by any means, but I can say I'm familiar enough beyond the surface. But so far, for my own use cases, I've found no reason to use Linux as a daily driver. Everything I need to do can be done on Windows (and almost always with less effort). Not that I'm saying Linux isn't useful, but practically speaking, Windows has struck the perfect balance between ease of use and flexibility for me.
