Hi everyone, welcome back to ChriswithaC RC, where I share my passion for radio controlled cars and models. Today, I have a special video for you, featuring the FTX Gladius, a 1/10 scale 4x4 trail crawler that I got as a present for my daughter Grace this Christmas. We took it with us on a small trip to see family in North Wales, and it was a perfect opportunity to test it out on some challenging terrain. We also brought along my Element Ecto Enduro, another 1/10 scale 4x4 trail truck that has some amazing features and performance. We decided on a route and took them both to practice some lines, and we had a lot of fun and adventure along the way.
The FTX Gladius is a new release from FTX, a UK-based company that offers a range of RC cars and trucks at affordable prices. The Gladius is based on the Outback platform, but it has some unique features that make it stand out from the crowd. It has high clearance portal axles, a low and forward mounted high torque transmission, steel gears, aluminium oil filled shocks, and a servo operated 2-speed gearbox and diff lockers. It also comes with a realistic body shell that resembles a competition off-road vehicle, with moulded details like mirrors, hinges, door handles, fuel cell, and roll bar. The Gladius is ready to run out of the box, and it comes with a 2.4GHz radio system, a 550 brushed motor, a 40A ESC, a 20kg metal geared servo, and a 7.2V 2000mAh NiMH battery. You can find more details and specifications about the FTX Gladius on the Modelsport website here - www.modelsport...
The Element Ecto Enduro is another great option for RC rock crawling enthusiasts. It is built on the Enduro chassis, which has a stamped steel C-channel frame, a behind-the-axle steering link, and a Stealth X gearbox that allows you to adjust the front and rear drive ratios independently. The Ecto also has the Gatekeeper Suspension package, which consists of rear trailing arms that move the shocks forward, a rear anti-roll bar, an adjustable aluminium track bar mount, and multiple shock mounting positions. The Ecto comes with a black body shell that has a sleek and aggressive look, with injection-moulded accessories like headlights, mirrors, and number plates. The Ecto is also ready to run, and it comes with a 2.4GHz radio system, a 550 brushed motor, a 40A ESC, a 20kg metal geared servo, and a 7.2V 2000mAh NiMH battery. You can find more details and specifications about the Element Ecto Enduro on the Modelsport Website here - www.modelsport...
So, how did these two trail trucks compare on the trail? Well, we were impressed by both of them, but they also had some differences. The FTX Gladius had more ground clearance and articulation, thanks to the portal axles and the trailing arms. It also had more speed and torque, thanks to the 2-speed gearbox and the diff lockers. It could climb over some steep and rocky obstacles with ease, and it had a lot of traction and stability. The Element Ecto Enduro had more steering angle and response, thanks to the BTA steering link and the track bar mount. It also had more adjustability and tuning options, thanks to the Stealth X gearbox and the shock mount inserts. It could handle some tight and technical sections with precision, and it had a lot of agility and balance. Both trucks had good shocks, tires, electronics, and body shells, and they were both durable and reliable.
We had a blast running these two trucks on the trail, and we captured some awesome footage for you to enjoy. You can watch the video of our adventure right here on my channel, and don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe if you haven’t already. I want to say a massive thanks to Modelsport here in the UK for helping me get the FTX Gladius to make my daughter’s special Christmas morning. They are the UK’s largest RC car and model retailer, and they have a huge selection of brands, models, spares, and accessories. You can check out their website and their KZbin channel for more information and reviews. I also want to say a huge thank you to all of you, my viewers and subscribers, for your support and feedback. I’m very grateful for everything and for the community we have here. Stay tuned for more videos and updates, and remember,
Stay Awesome!
