My favorite box player - he's a true stalwart of the ' soul ' Irish music ; echoes of the great Joe Cooley's playing . DANNY IS A Wonderful Player WITH HIS OWN STYLE !!!

There I was feeling cheesed off with things, then started watching this and Danny's lovely music cheered me up at once. Gem of a player!

All the best Irish music (for me) has the sound of the feet tapping…for me it IS PART of the music! If I don’t hear it, I usually have trouble tapping into that deeper well/source that my favourite performers are drawing from.

Lovely playing Danny, and very nice to hear some of the history too. Some great double foot tapping too. Lovely to see Tony McMahons accordion in good hands.

Anthony my mom (she is an Ni Dhuibhir and Maguire on her dad's side and O'Danagher O'Kennedy from Lorrha Dorrha North Tipp mother's side) gets a distant DNA cousin O'Connell and his family from Clare... Probably associated with O'Dwyers at Castle Connell I think I remember seeing some old records referring to that... I generally save them to my ancestry profile. We are well related to the O'Gormans of Ennis and there abouts in Clare... still trying to figure out where the O'Connells fit in there! We have Kerry ancestry as well O'Donoghues of Killarney married Cronins from West Cork one of mom's newer Irish DNA cousins is the Killarney O'Donoghue! Love this concert listened many times! Wish I lived over there and could hear it in person!!! I heard Nell Ni Chroinin singing the banks of Sullane... loved it!!!

Is that Tony mac mahons accordion
@MrBollox792 жыл бұрын
I believe so yes... he mentions it around 22:50 in! He passed on my birthday... RIP Tony and Up Clare. Our O'Dwyers (mom's father the O'Dwyer his mother a Maguire and mom's mother's mother's etc from O'Kennedy and MacEgan territory north Tipperary!) married/had land right next to O'Gormans related to O'Mahonys apparently/O'Foleys in Clare probably Carrigaholt... Doonogan and Moyglass and surrounding areas... Over in Killaloe as well... Lost track of the amount of times I've listened to this clip 😃!

Hw does like to fondle his instrument...laughable arrogance . He's grand but this Skipper goes to ocean without his nauseating pretensions beat the begazes out of/it him. Not rocket science. Never the less he'd be grand to have a tune or two wit. He's certainly not an imposter. Which ye and even name of the tune in another key you tune as long as the willows. Weeping willows would wilt lower ae the ignorance. How many tunes Scott Skinner wrote of a different beat?
