Gene gushing about how he was so proud of Barry’s development since the start of class was so fatherly 😭 to Fuches, no less! Amazing scene thanks to awesome writing
@Yoso115 жыл бұрын
Ah man that's awesome you just made me realize these two figures are playing important father figures in Barry's life atm and you could arguably say it's the most central theme in the show. Maybe that's like a really obvious statement that has probably already been discussed a lot around this show but I think it's one of the many reasons why this show is doing so well and turning Bill Hader into this dramatic superstar I love it.

Fuches was genuinely upset when Cousineau started talking about how proud he was of Barry. You can see his face change when he says that Barry was "directionless, like a bag floating in the wind". Afterwards, he drops his friendly cop charade and just takes him outside immediately instead of going around the house because it pissed him off. I wonder if that's also why he was spiteful enough to show him Janice's body. If he planned on shooting him anyway, there's no real need to show him the body except to get him still, which he could have done a different way.
@pyjamakid39823 жыл бұрын
it wasnt just spite . it was setting up his alibi by framing jean by calling it in from his phone while impersonating him.

Plus fuches may be a schemer, but he’s no killer. Not only was he afraid of what barry might do, but fuches didn’t have it in him to kill someone. Let’s not forget, fuches is no killer, he handled the business dealings and negotiations while barry did all the dirty work

The look on Cousineau's face when that trunk opens absolutely destroys me. You can tell that this is the first moment where Janice's murder has become real for him and it's just a masterful few seconds of subtle acting.

The best part about this show is it showcases so many great actors versatility. Winkler, outside of Fonzy of course, plays a lot of soft spoken, friendly characters and Gene, while he does care about his students in his own way, is more concerned with how they make him look as a teacher. Hader, known for being a great comedic actor, plays a hauntingly morally grey dramatic character. And Root, known for playing pushover characters like Bill Daughterieve, plays a terrifying antagonist. I feel like Barry doesn't get enough credit come awards season.
@forgetful98453 жыл бұрын

even though fuches just uses and screws over barry all the time, you can tell that he liked the father son relationship he had with him a little bit when gene was talking about barry when they met. barry is definitely trying to replace fuches with gene. @littleoldmanboy Жыл бұрын
@@CaseyLaarkamp I think he just means that the trick is to point out something that is next to the thing that you really want someone to see, but allow the person to see it for themself. Fuches only directed Gene’s eyes near to where the car was, he didn’t tell him “look at that car”, which would give Gene the impression that he’s the one who made the discovery
@williambaker3729 Жыл бұрын
Maybe it would be clever if he didn't point out the car literally a second after. Fuches couldn't have been more suspicious. Gene is just an idiot.

Am I lost or am I the only one who doesn’t see that “fatherly love” side from Fuches? The guy’s manipulative as fuck and doesn’t care for anybody but himself. Please prove me wrong but I do not, for the life of me, see it
@_banja3 жыл бұрын
I agree. Even in the first episode he is manipulative.
@ouckx3 жыл бұрын
Fuches has no fatherly love that for sure, but he see himself as a father to Barry, and therefore Fuches thinks that he can possesses all of him, a twist mind that many failure parents had, and I think Fuches is kinda envy what Gene had, which is Barry's trust... and he is attend to ruin that relationship.
@_banja3 жыл бұрын
@@ouckx Yeah you could see how enraged Fuches got when Gene said "he had no direction [and I helped him]". Maybe he even felt betrayed, but it's a result of him not treating Barry like an actual son. Gene knows what it is like to ruin a relationship with his real son. I think he truly wants to be a father figure because of that. He's an acting teacher who couldn't control himself in the past. You can see at the end of s2 when Gene's son and Barry talk on the phone, they are almost like brothers. Both have been ripped from a previous relationship (son and father, and Barry and Fuches), and provided a new one, and both have chosen to take another chance and change.
