This is an EXTREMELY DIFFICULT HAIR TRANSPLANT CASE of a total of 5805 FUE Grafts on IRRADIATED SCALP in 2 different FUE sessions. Both Hair Transplant sessions were performed by Doctor Juan Couto and his FUExpert Clinic team in our hair clinic in Madrid, Spain.

There are many people suffering the permanent cosmetic damages caused by the treatment of cancer or a disease.
Direct radiation therapy has variable effects on the skin and hair, generally depending on the intensity of the radiation and the number of sessions that have been applied.
Commonly, Hair Transplants offer poor results in these cases, due to the scarring condition of the skin and the potential damage of the microvascular network.
The hair loss generated by this cause are often asymmetrical and unnatural.
With a careful evaluation, a good approach and a well-executed procedure, we can improve these patients cosmetically and in this way their quality of life.

POST RADIATION ALOPECIA
Unlike chemotherapy, which usually causes a reversible hair loss called (effluvium anagen), radiation therapy could cause both reversible fall as well as permanent loss of hair follicles (cicatricial alopecia) in some cases.
Radiation therapy (RT) in high doses and applied directly to the scalp, which is used for the treatment of intracranial malignant tumors, can completely destroy the hair follicles, resulting in permanent alopecia. Usually, it also causes clinical scarring of the skin with varying degrees of dermal fibrosis, disorders in the microcirculation of the scalp with consequent compromise of the blood supply.
There are different methods of (RT) and the doses may vary depending on the characteristics of the tumor, but it seems that the radioactive lethal load for the hair follicles is any that exceeds 16 Gy. Undoubtedly, the vascular damage is also proportional to the repetition, that is to say, the number of treatment sessions.
In areas where hair looks thinner, such as the vertex-crown area, there is no AGA, but it is miniaturization produced by radiation leakage. At these vanishing points where the energy of the radiation is lower, the germinative elements of the follicular unit are partially destroyed, allowing the growth of a weak hair that is to be permanently maintained with these characteristics.
Due to the lack of naturalness that this alopecia produces, generally due to its asymmetry, these patients are left with important psychological sequelae once the underlying disease is resolved.
Hair transplant may be the solution to permanent hair loss by radiation, but achieving the growth of transplanted hair to be successful in a directly radiated area can be very difficult.

The cynic in me says these are tow completely different men, but then I look at the fine lines on his head and they match up perfectly, particularly the two vertical lines at each inner eyebrow and the cynic in me has to shut up. In your videos, the patient nearly always had dark black hair, probably because this is usual in Spain. The results are amazing and probably the best I have seen while doing my research for my own hair transplant. Can you still see good results like this if your hair is blonde like mine? Clearly it will be case by case but a rough idea would be helpful.

There are several factors that significantly affect the result of a hair transplant, and one of them is the contrast between the color of the skin of the scalp and the color of the hair. When the hair is light in color, like your blonde hair, the contrast with white skin is lower and this may be favorable for the result. When the hair is dark it usually demands higher density. The difficulty that very blond hair usually provides is the low visibility at the moment of extraction, when it is cut to less than 1 mm to be able to execute the punch stroke and the background skin is white.
