Hip-Hop and politics have always been intertwined to some extent. The argument that the Dems started the KKK is an old go-to for the right. You’re talking about a very long time ago first if all. 2nd, look up The Southern Strategy. The Dems of yesterday are the Republicans of today. I don’t align with party. I align with beliefs and Republicans don’t represent my beliefs. Politics start local. Folks vote for their councilman. Someone who lives in the neighborhood. That Councilman may go on to be a Congressman or Governor or Senator. We know who we’re voting for just like you do. We’re not being fooled. We’re voting for and applying pressure to the people most likely to implement our agenda. The person I voted for for Congress is not racist and does not want to see my people enslaved. I’d hope that every voter can say that. But when I see a Republicans go to a mic and denounce the killing of unarmed blacks by police or support legislation to remove pollution from black and brown neighborhoods, then I’ll consider voting for an R. I’ve been studying politics since Iran-Contra. And not casually. I know that Dems are not perfect or immune from being corrupted but with them, people who believe as I do have a better chance of achieving what the Constitution promises. Fam Republicans didn’t even put forward a platform at their own convention. And they are not trying to help America with that slim majority in the house.
