Optimizing to get more timing? What if you had 5% increase in spark? What would that translate into? What systems increase the amount of spark to get from the spark table adjustments.

I would argue that when gas prices get crazy high less people purchase 91 octane. Then I question how long is that 91 sitting in the tanks gathering moisture or degrading? The 87 is getting turned over much more often and maybe getting "fresher" fuel.

In my experience running 87 or 91 my fuel mileage doesn't change enough to come to the conclusion that the fuel was the factor maybe +/- .2 gal per mile. If your getting knock than your octane is too low and needs tuned for the fuel being used. Now if running 87 or 91 with 10% Ethanol added instead yes fuel mileage will decrease. I have actually gotten better fuel mileage using the 87 without ethanol over 91 with 10% ethanol blend.

My fuel economy is horrible because my truck keeps thinking I have 30%+ ethanol in my fuel causing the truck to runn very very rich. 😡 Virtual sensors are a joke. Can't wait for my new HPTuner to show up so I can disable flex fuel and bring the fual ratio back down to correct the air/fuel ratio.

Yes. Startup cost is around 400$ and the price of a laptop which you may or may not have. It costs 50$ for every control module you want to tune. That’s 50 to tune ecm (engine) and 50 to tune tcm (transmission) Once that price is paid you can tune and re-tune indefinitely for free Typical vehicles will have two control modules but some may have more. So if you wanted to tune all your engines and all your transmissions at your house after buying the hardware. It’d cost you 500$

The a/c comment is a myth. You lose at most 1 mpg by running your ac

Not true about the octane. Lower octane fuel tends to burn more quickly and easily, that's why it has less resistance to detonation, there fore burning more completely. It's proven. I run 85 when it's available.
