Completely agree with not trusting the dealership for maintenance. I do all my own. Unless there is something wrong with my truck that is outside my capability to fix, I do everything.

I agree with you…. I’ll do 90% of the work on my 2021 Duramax…they wanted $750 for a brake job, I did it for 70 minutes and about $40.00. They needed it overnight. Nice video…I needed this on

Thanks for the video. I just purchased one of these pickups. A 2020 GMC AT4 with this 3.0 diesel. So far, I'm loving it. I do my own maintenance. KZbin provides a quick visual lesson that I've learn to appreciate. Good video. I didn't know this for the repriming of the system after the filter change, simple enough. Happy New Year.

Thanks for the video. So easy, 10 minutes. And the dealer wanted $155 for this. Hadn’t noticed any power loss before the change but definitely feels stronger after the replacement. 👍

I’m totally done with the dealership for preventative maintenance. Last oil change on my 2020 Sierra 1500 diesel was $323. The warranty is almost up as I’m approaching 75,000km - will be 85,000km at next oil change. Plus, they stripped the oil drain plug - it’s going to be a hassle to remove on my next oil change. I purchased all the parts from GMC directly for a fraction of the cost. Great video. Will be replacing the fuel filter next oil change - save myself $150 over the dealership after I purchased the filter.

i knows its been a year but the scum bags at the dealership stripped mine too, it is a design flaw but they charged me $25 dollars for a new one when they are the only ones to ever change the oil which is total bs. Im doing everything myself now, i recommend buying the after market oil plug, its way better and the head wont strip.

Nice, can't believe how accessible things are on the baby Duramax. My Cummins is a giant pain in the backside for most of the filters. Considering relocation kits on the Cummins just to avoid the hassles. Nice job, looked very straight forward.

I am a Toyota Tundra owner. The model update has a gas V6 with turbo. The super expensive model adds a hybrid engine counterpart. This leads me to more research and your videos. I never owned a diesel and am learning a lot. Thanks. I may not be be brand loyal but reliability loyal. I owned an S-10 blazer in the past and had a bad experience. I am curious to see how things go for this model. Thanks for posting.

Hello Dave, oh, - you’re from Jersey I’m from Jersey :)), thanks for the video, nicely done. The clock didn’t reset at the first time because the engine used left over fuel in injector pump. You should’ve run it a bit longer to reinstate a circulation which will get new filter involved. Thanks for the video. My truck is coming by the end of April 22. Cheers

Easy change thanks for the tips. Had an emission code along with an engine code and power loss. Thought I would change the filter. Light is off and no more power loss. Fuel filter was down to 9%. Not sure if there was any corolation between the code and the filter percentage. Any idea? Also I am getting a lot of throttle lag. At least 1 full second after I press the throttle. If it was an old carb engine I would replace the accelerator pump. This is my first diesel. Loving it so far. 2021 Silverado. 26000 miles so far.
@TM-jl1zd9 ай бұрын
The system is designed to prime in one shot. The pump will run for a few minutes to prime the system. If it doesn’t start or runs rough cycle through the priming process again and restart. Sometimes you have to rev the engine when running to get any air out of the system.

@BanditDavesToyChest it wouldn't be a commuter, even though my compute is 50 miles. I would use it for fishing and hunting, pulling trailers etc. Though I wouldn't tow much more than 5000k, I would look at the max trailer tow. Mostly long trips.

What type of running boards do you have? Are they GM running boards or aftermarket, they look like they sit even with the bottom of the frame, I like. I would Like to recommend putting dielectric silicone grease on threads of that fuel filter housing, Kinda like a home water filter assembly, they come off very difficult if not.

I agree with you about not wanting the dealer to work on our trucks, unless it is out of my ability. I brought my 2 day old 2023 Silverado RST 3.0 4X4 to the dealer for a software update. When I got home with my new truck I decided to do a walk around, sure enough they dinged the cab just behind the drivers side passenger door. Brand new truck 2 days old and they dinged it. Fortunately it’s not a big ding and didn’t crack the paint, I was so pissed I couldn’t even call them to complain because I’m certain the fix would have been worse than the damage.

Much easier spot to get to vs. the EcoDiesel. Not that it's a pain, but over the driveshaft on the ED is kind of dumb.
@laytunes13763 жыл бұрын
The quality of those filters looks terrible, The F150 diesel filter is definitely way more robust, way more pleats and a denser material, that just looks like a re-purposed oil filter. Is there even a way to drain the water on these? The F150 also has a second fuel filter inside the engine bay before the HPFP which is nice for added protection. Surprised they didn't do more to protect the fuel system on these.
