Good video, I changed the filter today, it really helped me. The only thing that was difficult is to open the IN fuel line clips behind the filter,the space is very tight, I had to use a long screwdriver and my finger to open the clips. Thanks for the tips.

Most welcome Hassan. Space is a little tight for the fuel lines, but very achievable to get the fuel filter changed at home 😀

Professional video 100% Just did this on a 1.6, the only thing that differed was there was a 7mm nut on the clamp not a phillips screw. The fuel hose clip from tank to filter is harder to get to (the white clip that was undone last). The clip faces the opposite direction so your bending your fingers all way around to push the clip out towards you, but with little finger room. To make it easier release the vapour hose from the line (bottom plastic hose on in video with blue clips) to get that out the way then drop the filter more so you can get better access with your fingers on that white fuel feed hose clip.

Andrew thanks for watching the vid and for the follow-on tips! I guess someone maybe replaced my 7mm nut with a Phillips screw?.. Also good point about the last white clip. Mine was quite easy to remove, but I can understand how tricky it might be to remove for some as the space IS very tight. Nice one mate, appreciate your insights!

Wish my Focus 99 was looking that neat ;- )

I did it little by little. Do small jobs first. Keep it clean. Good wash, detail the engine bay, replace small worn-out parts, then bigger parts. Before you know it, you have a nice Focus. Just takes time 😉

@@Horus_Works Thanx for the encouraging words. Next I have to resort to our car repair man to weld and paint the holes in the both front fenders..

Hi thank you for this great tutorial. Does a dirty fuel filter makes the car start rough?
@Horus_Works2 жыл бұрын
No problem my friend. Yes, a dirty fuel filter can make your car run rough.

@@Horus_Works Yes the car is a little better but it still throws a 0171 code and doesn't start right away.

Easy for you. I took the clip off and pulled as hard as I could and it still did NOT come off. Now I gave it to a mechanic . I am still waiting to get my car back . I am on my 3rd day waiting. The fuel filter made my fuel pump work to hard and the pump died. I had that replaced. $650. Dollars later. Still waiting for fuel filter replacement. From brains auto in st. Cloud mn. He told me it would be done today. NOPE, STILL WAITING.

Ah that's a shame, sorry to see this happen to you. This is why it's important to change these things routinely. Once you get it back, change it again in a couple of years...

@rayamundson394 Where did you get your fuel pump? I'm looking on Amazon, but when I click to purchase, I'm getting prompts that it won't work on my Ford Focus.

Where can I buy the horse clips for the filter as well as the seals. My car leaks.

I'm not sure as mine never leaked, but maybe Ford still sell them?

My 2003 focus has been with me for 9 years, never had that part replaced. How do you know if it's ready or if it's gone bad?
@Horus_Works4 жыл бұрын
Hey Simon, if you've never changed the fuel filter, it's time to do it! 9 years is way too long... You may not notice any symptoms for a while, but basically this part is a filter for your fuel - it keeps dirt and contaminants out of your injectors and your engine. After 9 years your filter will surely be very dirty. Swap it out and you may notice an increase in performance, and maybe even fuel economy. Leave it in and at some stage your car will develop a rough idle due to carbon build up in your cylinders, or just a completely blocked filter causing a lack of fuel to the engine. Hope that helps. It's a cheap part so go for it... even if you don't do it yourself, a mechanic should get it done for you in 30mins or so.
