Great Video. Will make changing spark plugs a lot easier. On another video the guy removed the air cleaner and housing which made disconnecting the three fuel connections easier. Just a thought. Also I installed a tank bib and that cured any type of rattling regarding the chrome tank piece. Again thanks for the detailed video.

@Greg Rager. Hi Greg. My wife & I enjoy your videos since she bought me a new 'leftover' 2018 Voyager (same color as yours) a few months ago. I added this reply to your video because you might not already know this, but, there is no need to run a lead wire from the battery to the fairing since there is already a switched power-point under your front fairing. It's located under the radio, next to the pre-existing Navigation wiring. There's also a 2nd switched power-point wire under the seat. Kawasaki added these two open, switched circuits for buyers to be able to add accessories, without running wires, or splicing. Page #100 in the owner's manual describes these power-points, and provides location, and wire-color info as well. Hope this helps future projects. Ride well. Stay safe. Keep up the great videos. :-)

Very informative! I appreciate the time and effort you spent putting this video together and sharing it. It looks like you have to, at least, pull the tank up to change the spark plugs as well on the Voyager 1700. I had to pull my tank up (but not completely off) to change the spark plugs and coolant on my 2010 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic LT (a great bike!). I recently purchased a 2011 Kawasaki Voyager 1700 so will be perusing your other videos on the Voyager as well. Also, I am very interested in learning more about the "flashing" of the 1700's ECU as well.....for a smoother throttle response and power band. The Voyager is a great motorcycle, very comfortable and a lot of fun to ride. Thanks again!

Tasting The Apocalypse thanks for the input. The flashing was well worth it. Made smoother idle a little more power not a bunch but think just “cleaned” up the engine and increased everything. My big reason was for the temperature but hasn’t been over 65 since I have had ir done. Gets in the 90s here hoping can ride in the summer and not just at night or early am.

Sorry sold the bike last year. Shouldn't be to much more to it, getting the tank off is the hardest part. Only a few screws/bolts holding in the fuel pump, should be pretty simple after that. I found a nice diagram of the pump on eBay. The discontinued those speakers over a year ago, they didn't make a big difference in the sound, but they did "look" better. I just sold the bike this past weekend. Makes a great bike, just heavy for where I live, stuck in traffic all the time not a good place for that bike. If you get one, the main thing I recommend would be the ecu flash from Ivans. Worth every penny, next day turn around, smoothed engine out, added some rpms, lowered the temperature, just ran better than factory. Thanks for watching.

The radiator cap is under the fuel tank. When I changed my fluid I just took the bottom hose off of the radiator and drained it. How do I test the fuel pump to see if it's good
@RagerJackOfAll
@RagerJackOfAll Жыл бұрын
You can verify it working just by turning on the key, you should hear a buzz sound when you first turn on the key that is the fuel pump priming. No buzz, possibly just a fuse blown or bad wire. Get a buzz most likely it is getting power, But... that does not mean it is not clogged, or has a voltage issue. You would need to put a volt meter on it and check the voltage, then if you take the fuel line off of the tank run it to a container of some sort, when you turn the key on you should get a good bit of gas out. If you hear a buzz and no gas either it is clogged or bad. Sorry can't help much more than that without actually working on it.

www.kawasaki.com/en-us/owner-center/parts/2016/VN1700KGF Check out that link, I’m not sure of any fuse underneath of the tank, doesn’t sound like a good place to put a fuse but that doesn’t mean Kawasaki didn’t think so. Lol I know older Kawasaki’s main fuse was directly off of the battery with an inline fuse. I would check your fuse box make sure not there But if you look through those diagrams you may find something else. But anything like that should be Under the seat or easy to access. If you find it post back and let me know Next day off I have if it’s under the tank I’ll Tear mine off and see if the voyager are has one there. Thanks for watching

Sorry took so long to get back to you, with xmas and i own my own security business been swamped. I have looked at different options including the ECU, we just do not have anywhere near me to get an ECU flashed, I have tried it with cars in the past but by the time you mail it out, they mail it back you mail it back for adjustments they mail it back...... I'll probably just get a different bike this spring, I really do not do a lot of road traveling, so I don't need a bike this big anyhow. Did you send your ECU out to someone if so let me know who I'll check into it though. Again sorry for the slow reply, havent had time to think.

I have a 2017 Voyager and you need the Ivan’s Flash. The bike has more power, torque, and much better throttle response. It runs much cooler and stops all backfiring (if you’ve added slip ons). It is really like a new stronger engine! Check out his site.

@@jhask64 Thanks, I just found on Google with Ivans ECU.... Lol, looks like $350 to flash may get rid of some other things I'm not so happy with like what feels to me like a timing issue around 3000rpms kinda falls on its face, not that its a power house anyhow. I'm actually in Myrtle Beach, I was doing the opposite with the car I had mailing to NY somewhere but never got it right. I can probably ship the bike to Greenville for a couple hundred dollars, have them flash and tune and just ride it home when done, that way any tweeking can be done without guesswork. Yes when the key is on and the switch is in the run position you can hear the fuel pump running even though the bike is not. Not exactly sure but most likely once the bike actually starts the ECU tells the pump to stop priming. Hope that helps.

Honestly, for me it is extremely heavy and very hot. I live near Myrtle Beach and unless you are going on road trips or live in a cooler area I would not buy another unless they fix the Heat Issue. The have added an "air flow management" system, but it still was running in the red until I did the ECU flash from Ivans Performance but you shouldn't have to flash an ECU on a new bike to keep it from being to hot. Now again, I do not do many road trips, as far as comfort goes it is extremely comfortable and it handles very good at 70mph, so again if long hauls good bike, mostly short runs, would not do it again. Looking at a new one for this summer, going to be trading this one in very soon. Thanks for watching.

Not positive but should be very similar. Tanks usually held on by 1 or 2 bolts some older bikes had a rubber strap. They almost all fit the same once you remove the fuel lines. If your carburetor not fuel injected the main fuel line probably has a clamp not a press fitting. In other words think the video will get you through it. Good luck and if it does post a comment I’ll update the title to cover your bike. Thank you.

Helpful hint for any fuel tank with U-shaped front mounting points: before reinstalling the tank on the 'bike, put a dab of vaseline, or lithium grease into the u-shaped 'grooves' on the tank. It helps slide the tank onto the rubber bushings, especially if the bushings age, or get dry/stiff. Ride safe. :-)
