I hope this new pump is less annoying and more long lived than the previous ones. I think you are on to something regarding the way that unit fits into that bracket thing inside the tank. Perhaps a resonance is created there. In evaluating factory vs aftermarket fuel pumps, is there a way to simply power them up OUTSIDE the car and listen to their operation? If nothing else, one would get a sense of any difference between the two. This may go towards allaying concerns about quality or durability. In any case, I hope you get a LOT of use out of your new fuel pump! Aloha!

Yup fuel pumps can be tested externally! It is a simple 2 wire 12v power/ground. However electric fuel pumps are all noisy. So I’d imagine it would be hard to tell the difference in loudness through a bench test

@@bluesxt Ah! I see... (sigh...)... As you say, it's not that simple. The electric fuel pumps in my Hondas (the brand with which I have the most exposure) made that little noise if I turned the key to ACC just prior to START. Truth to tell... I found that little whine comforting, because the car was GOING to start properly. In my experience, the engine, wind and road noise drowned out the fuel pump sound. Your Mazda is probably much more quiet-operating than my old Hondas were. It sounds like fuel pump noise is "a thing" modern motorists have put up with. It's all a big conspiracy to make us all buy electric cars, I tells ya!! 😆 🤣 😂

This pump ended up failing on me after 3 months, but I ordered a much better quality pump from rock auto and it seems much better :)

You can get to the pump by removing the rear bottom seat. Instead of dropping tank.

Can’t do that on some of the Mazda’s. It was either certain years that you couldn’t, or it was California emission cars like this one. But either way this one was one of those unfortunate ones that needed the tank to be dropped

Cali cars u can't do the under the seat. All ur find u ddr the seat on the cali cars is the wire connector for the fuel pump. 2006-2008 mazda really put a lot of cali cars out in the states

@@bluesxt I cut the sheet metal on mine with an angle grinder with a lot of care to have access to pump. By the way , do you know where is the fuel pressure sensor on this car ?

@@parolesgravees the fuel rail pressure sensor is located on the fuel rail under the intake manifold. Closer to the passenger side

Hi I recently changed my fuel pump on my 07 Mazda 3 2.3L manual. And I hear the same load noise. I also filled up my tank after installing and the sensor was reading that the tank was full. I had to keep pushing the lever to complete the fill up

The loud fuel pump noise I heard after install ended up being a defective fuel pump that ended up dying about a month later. If you’re referring to the fuel pump shutting off on you while you’re filling up, that means either the gas being pumped into the tank isn’t going down into the tank fast enough, or you have some sort of fuel vapor build up. You might have kinked the main fuel filler hose, or one of the vent hoses, or a fuel hose near the tank hooked up incorrectly.

Unfortunately not on this particular car. The federal emission versions of these cars might be possible, but the CA emissions one is not accessible from under the seat

No code. The engine wouldn’t start since the fuel pump stopped working

Yep after market knock off are shit these days. Sometimes even the genuine parts are a problem too . It’s the world we live in today no pride in building or making something great. And for electric cars wait til you have to replace your battery pack. $$$ probably can buy a new one . Being forced feed shit
