Final tip - Before you claim the victory on install - leave the fuel pump area exposed, fill the tank full of gas, drive around, let it sit in drive way for a bit. Verify it's "bone dry" before reinstalling lid and back seat. btw - when I say "crescent wrench" - replace that with the word "rachet wrench"

1 little tip that is absolutely magic for installing the plastic retaining ring, firstly clean it really well and make sure its completely dry then put it in the microwave in the center of the plate for 10 seconds each side then rush back to the fuel pump and it will spin on most of the way by hand and just use the tool to tighten it up

Great video on fuel pump removal for a 1st gen Mazda 6. However, note that the torque spec for the sealing ring is NOT 80 ft*lbs as he states. According to my workshop manual, the spec is 59 to 66 ft*lbs.

If you have been having trouble with the airtex e8587m fuel pump getting seated you might want to cut the springs. The dual springs are stiffer then the stock single which makes the profile about an inch to tall. This forces you to compress the pump as was stated around 9:25

To be honest with you, you don't really need the lock ring tool to tighten it, as hand tightening it as far as you can is enough, as the MRA is plastic and can crack if over tightened. The rubber seal will seal it if it is on properly and fairly tight. We change these all the time and what I have mentioned is all that is required. Good step by step Video though

@ericdebby not sure if you're still monitoring this youtube channel. But do you remember which fuel pump you bought? I have a 2007 mazda i 4cyl that needs a fuel pump replacement and there are just too many choices with a wide range of price points. Amazon goes for as low as $90 while some car specific sites go for $450-800. Do you know what the center bulge is on the fuel pump? Does it have to be exactly like it to fit in the mazda?

Gotta say, no one has the correct way, for my Mazda 6 2010, to get the back seat up, as, it DOES NOT come out!!! All these videos have been useless, for this, as mine has, BOLTS ON FLOOR, it then goes up on hinges, does not come out, at all, so much simpler and neater. That was through a friend.

Hello sir, thanks for this video. I have the same model car. My car runs, but has 280k miles and it is starting to stall a bit. i've replace plugs and wires and ignition pack last year. I can't find the fuel filter, can you tell me if the fuel filter is in the pump or tank or where. I get different messages when searching online. It's Sunday and I cant call my local Mazda dealership until tomorrow. thanks for your help if you see.
