Fuel Storage for SHTF

Fuel storage is an important component of being prepared for SHTF. If relying on a generator is in your preparedness plans, you need to make sure you store adequate gasoline as well.
Here's how I do it. I have adapted this method to fit my female strength limitations. If I can do it, you can too! If you don't want to do it for yourselves guys, do it for the women in your life. They might not always have you around.
Notes: I believe I said 30 gallon barrels in the video, I believe they are actually 15 gallons. I also said "Double D batteries" and while I know you gentlemen are laughing right now, I meant to say "two D batteries". Lastly, I have stored Diesel fuel in these as well. Works fine.

Also a pair of channel locks will open those bung caps as well.

I can see where and open pair of pliers would work, but there’s really nothing to get a hold up with the channel locks unless you had something else in mind.

I thought that a plastic barrel might work. I found another homestead KZbinr doing the same thing. However, having had gasoline that stayed good 4 to 5 years because we kept it in airtight containers, I knew that a plastic barrel would need to be airtight to hold gas. Having a wrench like that should solve that issue.

Good idea but I live in AZ and the small jugs inflate, would those barrels inflate as well?

Mine do, but it doesn’t really seem to affect them. They seem to do better when they get absolutely no sun.

It really helps to keep them in the shade if you can. I have had them expand quite a bit and never had them fail, But you can take the wrench and open the container to relieve the pressure

@@ForgingFreedomTV I’m worried about the heat, shade I can do but everything I’ve read says to keep fuel under 80, in the summer my shed can get up to over 100 easily, maybe 110 max. I don’t see a way to store gas through the summer if 80 is the highest safe temperature...

Good question. There’s a couple ways you can do it. You can fill them a gas can at a time or what I do is just put the entire barrel in the back of the truck, take it to the gas station and fill it up and then use a ramp with a dolly to get it out of the back of the truck

Just so everybody knows.. if you go to your local small airports you can buy Aviation gas ...it will store for 3 years🤠👍 it is a little spendy but it's worth it.....Luke 21,36 KJV ❤
