The fire dragon stove and fuel is the BSB stove and fuel which is issued to the British Military. BTW it boils quicker if you improvise a windshield Best way is to dig a shallow pit. and cover the top of the pot.

The Esbit solid fuel stove is slightly elevated from the ground, making it safer in terms of preventing fires. Here in the USA fire dragon fuel is twice the price as Esbit tablets or equivalent. Personally I will stick with Esbit.

I'll look into that, thank you.

Esbit tablets are like hexamine but better.

The first time I used mine, the flames popping out all over the place cought me off guard too. Clearing a small area down to the soil works in my experience, but also raising on a small rock would work fine if you want to be extra safe. The fuel blocks can also be used as a waterless soap, which I think is kind of cool. You can also store 3 of the blocks inside the stove, which is handy. I still think a stove is a more flexible (but maybe less stealthy) way of heating water, but I do like the firedagon stove and have one with me in my pack.

You need some sort of further windshield on your Fire dragon stove. I tried it out with the fire gel years ago and to be honest I don't remember exactly why i didn't take to the stove and the gel outside of alcohol burners were more effective for me. The methylated spirits are easy to get and comparatively cheap but like with the fire gel you really have to keep on top of your windshield, make sure it's effective or you burn through a lot of meths in a bit of weather. Took me years to get a kit together i was truly happy with and I still try to improve that but that's part of the fun of it.

Thank you, yes I've got a flat packed windshield that I havent tried yet. I'll give it a go.

Way back in my miss spent youth i learnt to cut a patch of sod (turf or woodland surface roots) slightly bigger than a hexi burner, sit the burner in the hole and use the sod as a windbreak, once ya done with the burner wet the ground a bit in the hole and replace the sod, leaves next to no trace and helps with stealth a fair bit.

I dont like the fire dragons personally. Have used one in the past. As you say on the video, i cut myself some thin steel plate a bit bigger than the stove and put underneath. You can get one of those small fireproof mats too. But personally i prefer a small gas stove.👍

I think overall I prefer the control of a gas stove but I wanted to try other options. Thanks for the advice, nice one.

Don't know if you know anyone with a cat but the little foil dishes there food comes in ( sheba or the equivalent) are idea for using the fire dragon fuel blocks in. Dont think you'll ever get better then hexamine but now illegal to own or use unless you get an explosive licence. Hope that's of some use to someone ATB Rob 👍

Bcb cup and stove works great with the fire dragon 😊

I am pretty sure that hexamine tablets are banned in the UK, because if you have the know how you can create an explosive with them so I’m pretty sure in the last year or two the United Kingdom, government or government has done their best to ban the import of them

I've got the bcb stove and dragon fuel tabs and it works really well if you make a ditch or put some stones or small logs around it to block the wind a bit more as well as using the wind shield,I also use a small carbon felt stove inside the bcb stove when cooking with mess tins, those other firelighters your using are for a fire or BBQ thank goodness you never used them to anything as you would of been in shtf,I put the gel in a small tobacco tin and it burns a lot better,it's a learning curve to see what works for you,I use bioethanol as well,you can use the dragon fuel to clean your hands which is a bonus .

I use a Stanley mug that has lid, boils enough water for two drinks in about 5 minutes on copy Trangia stove using Bioethonel. I think I got 10 litre bottles for £20.00 years ago.

Your second fuel the solid fuel ones is meant for lighting a wood fire not for cooking on. If you want solid fuel that you can cook on you need to get hexamine fuel tablets
@billpattie33443 ай бұрын
You need a small folding wind shield, a bit of folded thick tin foal for the forest floor and turn your mug handles to the windward side, firedragon fuel blocks work really well but you can buy PROPPER solid fuel blocks for your esbit stove (not hexamine) that work well to, bet you had to scrub that mug hard, we've all been there Amigo, hope this helps.
@everydayprepper3 ай бұрын
You're so right about having to scrub that mug! Thanks for the advice.

Air gun pellet tin with screw top, stuff with fibreglass quilt. Then pour 15ml of bio ethanol in. That's your burner that you can pop into your stands. The BCB one needs holder bent flat. Bioethanol burns a lot cleaner (less smelly), so it is stealthier than meths or blocks and doesn't leave a crusty mess like fire dragon. Quilt in tin makes it spill proof if you knock it over and lid means you can put it out and keep unburnt fuel for your next brew! Oh and 177 pellet tin fits in BCB burner. I really wouldn't bother with the blocks, unless you take your blowtorch with you camping they can be a pig to light with matched ferro rod or standard fag lighter.
@neilnpr93003 ай бұрын
...oh and tin stops any leaks onto ground and fibreglass acts as a wick making the burn more controlled.

Maybe you could use a camping stove wind shield to help keep the flames under control and off the handle maybe. . ive not used those types of stoves tbh, i use a gas burning stove. mainly for fishing weekends. And when im away weekends ill carry my gas stove, i normally carry a small camping stove windbreak to help. Great to see those stoves in action., Thank you 👌👌

Thanks, yes I've got one of those windshields, I'll have to give that a go. I'm still thinking gas stove may be best though.

You’re missing a wind shield

I got a Firedragon foldy stove recently but am also not familiar with them. I was definitely getting a long lighter, but I think fireproof gloves might be in order as well seeing this! Also wondering what small kettle would be best to go with it. I wonder if the flame would behave a bit better if there were two windshields rather than just the provided one?
@everydayprepper3 ай бұрын
I may not have positioned it correctly in relation to the wind but yes, the flame on both was all over the place! Thanks for watching.
