Eventually becoming a Dr in 2015 and I played this song during my graduation ceremony. Today my daughter is a teenager, with another daughter and son, married their mom. We both recently graduated for our MBA's with me becoming a CEO in one of the very top companies in SA. Thanks for the great music. Im in my mid 30s. Pls drop another one before I get to 40yrs. 🎉

yeah, no music today compares to music of the 00s ... this album was one of the last great albums in the sort of passion, emotion based pop-rock stuff that was super popular in the early to mid 00s (this album dropped in 2012, I believe)... I struggle to find music I connect with nowadays, and it sucks.. I know it still exists. it's just that you really have to hunt for it. it's not in the mainstream... this entire album is really great though... and they were amazing live on new years eve in new orleans several years back. such a memory standing out in the rain watching them perform.

Some nights, I stay up cashing in my bad luck Some nights, I call it a draw Some nights, I wish that my lips could build a castle Some nights, I wish they'd just fall off But I still wake up, I still see your ghost Oh, Lord, I'm still not sure what I stand for, oh What do I stand for? What do I stand for? Most nights, I don't know anymore [Verse 1] This is it, boys, this is war What are we waiting for? Why don't we break the rules already? I was never one to believe the hype Save that for the black and white Try twice as hard and I'm half as liked But here they come again to jack my style [Pre-Chorus 1] And that's alright (That's Alright) I found a martyr in my bed tonight She stops my bones from wondering Just who I, who, I, who I am Oh, who am I? [Chorus 2] Well, some nights, I wish that this all would end 'Cause I could use some friends for a change And some nights, I'm scared you'll forget me again Some nights, I always win (I always win) But I still wake up, I still see your ghost Oh Lord, I'm still not sure what I stand for, oh What do I stand for? What do I stand for? Most nights, I don't know [Bridge 1] (Oh, come on) So this is it? I sold my soul for this? Washed my hands of that for this? I miss my mom and dad for this? (Oh, come on) No When I see stars, when I see stars, that's all they are When I hear songs, they sound like a swan So, come on Oh, come on Oh, come on Oh, come on [Verse 2] Well, that is it, guys, that is all Five minutes in and I'm bored again Ten years of this, I'm not sure if anybody understands This one is not for the folks at home Sorry to leave, Mom, I had to go Who the fuck wants to die alone All dried up in the desert sun? [Bridge 2] My heart is breaking for my sister And the con that she called "love" And then I look into my nephew's eyes Man, you wouldn't believe the most amazing things That can come from Some terrible nights [Outro] The other night, you wouldn't believe The dream I just had about you and me I called you up, but we'd both agree It's for the best you didn't listen It's for the best we get our distance, oh For the best you didn't listen It's for the best we get our distance, oh

Ytboi Western Yes, the sudden spike in vocal editing towards the end of the song was a very interesting creative choice, almost as if reminding us that despite the less-then-contemporary instrumentals and content of the music video, this song was nevertheless made in modern times. Listening to it was strange at first, but it grew on me on repeated listens. Fun. is truly a very interesting band, in a very good way.

ZamaBomvu ngubane If you look at this on an overall scale then the largest amount of 'meaningful songs' (songs that were about something other than shallow shit like getting laid, making money or general silliness that makes little to no sense) were definately written in the 1960's and 1970's. Even the 1980's had a higher general message value in their songs than what we get today.

The first time we heard this group was late at night on Saturday Night Live. Ron and I immediately ordered the CD. Every song on it was, and still is, unforgettable; Songs that bring us to attention, that make us alive, that make us question and inspired. But this one - "Some Nights" is an incredible anthem which reaches out to the core of anyone whose has ever pondered/wondered about their existence. The video is beyond rattling, it is hauntingly visceral.

Some nights I stay up cashing in my bad luck Some nights I call it a draw Some nights I wish that my lips could build a castle Some nights I wish they'd just fall off But I still wake up, I still see your ghost Oh, Lord, I'm still not sure what I stand for oh Whoa oh oh (What do I stand for?) Whoa oh oh (What do I stand for?) Most nights I don't know anymore... Oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh, oh Oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh, oh This is it, boys, this is war - what are we waiting for? Why don't we break the rules already? I was never one to believe the hype Save that for the black and white I try twice as hard and I'm half as liked But here they come again to jack my style That's alright (that's alright) I found a martyr in my bed tonight She stops my bones from wondering just who I am, who I am, who I am Oh, who am I? Mmm... Mmm... Well, some nights I wish that this all would end 'Cause I could use some friends for a change And some nights I'm scared you'll forget me again Some nights I always win, I always win... But I still wake up, I still see your ghost Oh, Lord, I'm still not sure what I stand for, oh Whoa oh oh (What do I stand for?) Whoa oh oh (What do I stand for?) Most nights I don't know... (oh, come on) So this is it I sold my soul for this? Washed my hands of that for this? I miss my mom and dad for this? (Come on) No. When I see stars, when I see When I see stars, that's all they are When I hear songs, they sound like a swan, so come on Oh, come on. Oh, come on. Oh, come on! Well, that is it guys, that is all Five minutes in and I'm bored again Ten years of this, I'm not sure if anybody understands This one is not for the folks at home; Sorry to leave, mom, I had to go Who the fuck wants to die alone all dried up in the desert sun? My heart is breaking for my sister and the con that she called "love" When I look into my nephew's eyes... Man, you wouldn't believe the most amazing things that can come from... Some terrible nights... ah... Oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh, oh, Oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh, whoa, oh, oh The other night you wouldn't believe the dream I just had about you and me I called you up but we'd both agree It's for the best you didn't listen It's for the best we get our distance... "May 17. We awoke with the dread of knowing that the day would be spent in battle, yet savoring the dread in case it be our last morning. Our commander tried to buoy our spirits with encouraging words, but found himself asking again and again what he stood for, and sowed more confusion than relief. The fighting was long and fierce, and lasted into the night, but at last the battle ebbed and we stood victorious, thanks to our commander's strong singing voice and the intrepid piano player." - Elisha Hunt Rhodes

There needs to be a Broadway musical based on this album. It’s SO theatrical, it’s incredible. Fun released just two studio albums, and Some Nights is near-perfect. One of my all-time favorites. It has a theme, too, that could be translated to a stage show. I just desperately want this lighting-in-a-bottle musical moment to be appreciated by new generations again and again. It’s such a great time capsule for the early 2010s, yet so very unique. It even uses auto-tune in a good way. I love it all so much. This song is so fun to scream-sing in your car.

Of course you can be my friend, you don't even need to ask my permission.
