Why Does NFS Heat Have More Players Than NFS Unbound?

Why is Need for Speed Unbound losing players? Is it already becoming a "Dead Game"? What needs to be changed in order for it to stay alive? Need for Speed Heat has a higher player count and more active players than Need for Speed Unbound and I try to give my theories as to why.

I just like the atmosphere of heat it feels like a city pop picture than at night it feels like synthwave also in heat you can buy so many cars at the end and the prices are fair in unbound you don't even earn money for some races and the economy is bad, also when heat goes on sale basically every week for 5 dollars and unbound is still 70 dollars i can see why people choose nfs heat

@@Zumi909 i think its a better grind tho, the community is actually pretty involved in the racing so you'll get the bonus xp and money from 5 players in one race. the grind is actually finishing the playlists so you can unlock the good cars to buy. i just really enjoy racing in A+ or S because the other classes are meta hell.

Bro, i gotta say im in love with Unbound, i didnt touch a Need for Speed since Underground 2 , i saw the steam xmas mega pack sale for 20 bucks where i get Heat,Unbound,Rivals, Most Wanted , NFS 2015 and NFS Remastered and i have to say im having a complete blast. My need for speed xperience is fullfilled, i swap from one game to another and mix it with Heat or other games, sure Heat looks better but man, the tunning options in Unbound is insane

I do love playing both Heat and Unbound. But if I had to pick one, I'd say Heat would give Unbound a run for its money. To put it like this, the progression system is impressive and you get various vehicles but legendary ones when you are at the end of the story arc or the end of the side missions arc. With activities, in Unbound, if you complete the activity with beating the rival and getting a 3 star, you do get some cash but if you wanted to make more money with doing the same one you completed, you don't get that same amount again while in Heat you can get the same amount of money when completing the activity. You can even do a money making method with it in Heat. The storyline for both games are good but I mostly prefer Heat's. - Fun Fact: Jonny Cruz (the VA of Lucas Rivera) is also the voice of Overwatch and it’s also why he got me into this game as he voices Lucio which is my main on OW.

NFS Unbound story was a complete flop, I still havent finished it after a year because of how long and dragging it is. I've finished and actually speedrun the story of Heat and speedrun to level 50.

The game was never even marketed. The effects are a game changer in my opinion and they should have really treated it as such. The game literally has an emphasis on artists from Chicago and vinyls literally inspired from their work! P.s. they still don't market it out as much. No videos or long form trailers. I mean the game has a great playlist curated by Asap?! How could they not spend money on marketing this out! As someone who loves hip hop, the tracklist is great

I played unbound for 100 hours and i can conclude why do peoples hate the game: - Most reviews that i read are complaining about the driving system that so uncomfortable, which is not very enjoyable for newbies. - It slows, the vibes of the races in unbound is pretty slow. Only it become way more adrenaline if you upgrade your vehicle to S+. Unlike Heat that becoming so adrenaline after your car reach Level 250 (Same as A+ or S) - The Story Mode? Yep, it is way too bored and theres nothing more interest on the story mode after you complete it. I personally complain why do they got lack of snapshot features. It's like getting cutted from Heat, you cant tilt the camera and you cant used any unique effect on it. It Just zooming and uses any common options. And the police are so annoying. Not talk about how they trying to catch me but how they communicate with the radio. They got too much swearing and they were sounds unprofessional. Anyways, so far so good, the whole game is not bad at all. Only that peoples and mine complained are bad. Message for Newbies who want to try Unbound, Try the Heat first to know how the game works. Otherwise, you will be uncomfortable if you jumped out from Heat.

Another reason why NFS Unbound has also a lesser player count than NFS Heat is because it's still an unfinished game full of unbearable bugs and a shitty handling model which dates from NFS Rivals or NFS 2015. Also, NFS Unbound was D.O.A way before release. Moreover, NFS Unbound is an asset flip reskin of NFS Heat which costs too much without discount sales, it's a smoke seller, all the contents from updates are actually recycled assets that should've been already included instead of being overpriced paid DLC items and EA Play exclusive cars are a massive scam since they're temporary rentals which will disappear when your EA Play sub is finished. Luckily, there's mods support to save money. Other turnoffs are also the DLC prices which are too much, the restrictive calendar system which is crap, separated Online and Offline progression which means no car sharing between the 2 profiles (expect the cars from Win A Car events), the grindfest and stingyness nature of the game, the massive amount of issues which ruins the will to continue playing, no possibility to race against A.I racer bots or pick your own races in any order unlike in NFS Heat which is the total and the fact that updates were released too late instead of being already included contributed to a loss of interest. There's also the fact that the devs should've gone for a full cel-shaded artstyle like Auto Moddelista or Drift City instead of doing an half done work since the characters in the game and the realistic-ish atmosphere of Lakeshore looks utterly out of place and doesn't fit eachother very well. Meanwhile, the OST of NFS Unbound had badly chosen musics since most of them aren't fitting most of the time especially during races. Devs even admitted they did a bad job in that area. Other possible reasons why NFS Heat has an higher player count than NFS Unbound is that many players refunded the game since there was too much problems, save corruption issues, Online Multiplayer which doesn't work most of the time, optimization issues, broken physics or collision bugs. To simplify. What i wrote above are the reasons why players quit NFS Unbound and goes back to NFS Heat, past NFS games or other games which are worth the money and their time.

Players are either bored to the core since they keep doing the same thing in an infinite loop, they finished everything in the game since there's no point to continue playing without any endgame contents for more replayabilty factor OR doesn't want to comeback anymore to play this buggy game. The fact that NFS Unbound is an overpriced asset flip and a smoke seller reskin of NFS Heat with recycled contents that should've been already there before launch instead of being paid "DLCs" doesn't help in their matter. In reality, NFS Unbound is a massive flop which was already D.O.A given there was too many discount sales. Having unreasonable amount of discount sales on a regular basis is a very bad sign and a red flag. Hence why always think 3x beforehand to avoid being deceived and dissapointed by false adverts. In short terms, vote with your wallet.

I'd play it if i could disable the silly art effects and make my own soundtrack and add my own songs to the game. That's mostly all the issues that turned me off the game. There are other things such as lack of the feeling of going fast aswell. I miss the days of nfs mw 2005 where your car actually felt like it was fast and the soundtrack was a banger. With Heat there is basically 100 races to pick on both day and night which basically feels like 200 in total and u can use any car you want and you can choose to play against people or bots with unbound, you are basically limited to whatever performance your car is and there’s like what 50 races in total That’s just bad it’s just bad overall game design

I got Heat, Payback, Rivals and 2015 over Unbound. I'm a single player. I put that game in the dumpster. The only way I buy Unbound again is if they: 1. Fix the racing ai cheating (they drive faster than you in straights even though you're capped out in a class) 2. Fix the ai racer rubberbanding 3. Get the cops to not show up so often around you 4. Buff the blue nitrous 5. Increase the payouts 6. Decrease the buy-ins 7. Increase hood customization for muscle cars. (The Crew 2 and a game from 18 years ago did it better....Midnight Club Dub Edition Remix) if they fix at least the 1st three then illbuy it again for around $20. If not i might get it again for >$10.

Thank you for making this informative video. I didn't really like the art style, 1 major reason why I didn't like it, is simply because it distracts you while in a high speed race, I don't want some silly art effect to distract what I'm seeing on screen, if there was option to switch it off completely I could enjoy the game but I can't. NFS heat, was okay, but not great either. Customisation options such as body kits were limited, unlike in NFS Underground games where there were more options for body kits.

I bought unbound on sale but i not recommend buy this game by full price. Unbound don't even reach body tuning from nfsug1 and physics from ug2. For example we want to recreate Dirt's 240 sx - i did it, but to make a simple lvl1 tear from ug1 on car in unbound takes very much time. And another example kurt's rsx where we have sparco and yokohama, racinghart stickers on car which is impossible to recreate, and while you trying its ruin whole car cause they looks goofy, and for some reason we have hks, sparco, kenwood, nx stickers on eddie r34, also on buick from vol5 update you can see turbo from hks, but i don't see them in wrap editor. Physics is really bad, especially because of burst nos, cause you must farm burst nos to win, and when you use burst nos car lives it's life, car can go straight but on the next second car wrecks into the wall, tree or make 360.

I've played Unbound and after 50 hours of playtime I feel like returning to Heat. I hate how Unbound is stingy and tier-gating you. Like for example, when your car's rating is at 169, it's barely enough to beat the opponents which btw have terrible rubberbanding but upgrade your car to 170 and above, the game won't allow you to compete against said opponents because your car is on a higher tier and while you're at it, the game won't let you participate in any races aside from the tier you're in. And now that tier you're in has new opponents that are just as worse as the previous ones so basically speaking, you're back to square one but on another level! Not to mention the game not allowing you to upgrade your car further despite having it unlocked. They'll do anything to prevent you from gaining the advantage you need to make your experience at least decent!

Thoughts on unbound The online is toxic, there’s a challenge for a car where in order to get it, you must attack other players, which encourages ram on sight, and it turns a lot of players off from the game in my opinion. In heat, ramming another only heavily hurts you as if you’re ramming the cops, which is a way of saying “No toxicity allowed” The story for unbound makes absolutely zero sense. Your character has the most dumbest thing I ever heard in my life. Cops ignoring other criminals in lakeshore? Which reminder it’s based on Chicago, one of the most crime ridden cities equal to Detroit. Street racers also putting people’s lives on the line, driving high speed, attacking police with their vehicles, in Most Wanted, it was clear you’re the bad guy, and the game never justified your actions.

The reason why I stopped playing unbound is that I usually have to drive a rental car instead of using the car I’ve been building up in the multiplayer. I also hate the fact that the multiplayer and single player are separate like the way it is. Imo Heat is leagues better than unbound and the only thing I wanted was just heat with the artistic effects from unbound. Plus the cars are overly sensitive in unbound and they should change it. I never understood why so many players still keep using rental cars when money is so easy to come by in online now. People make it seem like such a huge problem that solo and online garage is not shared, but really you can make million in an hour just by racing online. Also the cars you unlock via solo progression are present in your online garage as well, you just need to build them.

Heres how i feel, i played nfs rival, nfs 2015, nfs payback and havent tried nfs heat yet so when i heard about a new nfs unbound i was excited. When i saw the animated people on the overview i thought it was unique so i bought the game for $80 and then when i get on for the first time the story is bland and not exciting and the animation style is in your face at all times. Ive always liked how nfs is more arcade style than other games but this is too far for me. The animation being heavily present and the story being so boring and flat makes the game bad. And honestly to me the game mechanics for the new nfs is bad. I liked the feel of nfs 2015 and payback being very free and not as hard to turn. It was a little less realistic and a lot more fun, it just feels stiff and restricting now. Not a fan. I bought the game for $80 and have played it twice and now ive switched back to nfs payback

I'm going through the car list and I'm baffled by all the recycled cars from the past three games. For a game that came out in 2022 there's still a ton of 2014/2015 models. They didn't even bother to add the newer models and it just looks downright lazy. I'm playing on Gamepass and would of been pissed if I actually payed for this garbage. Heat was OK and this is 5 steps back from that.

As I have played both Heat and Unbound I can understand why Unbound is less popular than Heat. First of all, credit reward system is horrible. Buy ins of Unbound soooooo annoying. even if users win race and side bets, reward of credits are salty. Especially car hoarder like me, collecting cars and dressing up in unbound is much bothering comparing to Heat. This is obviously reversing trends of racing games these days. Horizon 5 and the crew motorfest giving lots of reward and has value buying motorpass(or season pass) to collect exclusive cars, while NFS series has none of ‘em. Second, heat level system is also non-sense. The more risk to get busted, the more rewards needed but still Unbound doesn’t have. Heat has motive to try high heat racing to get higher performance parts, and still, Unbound doesn’t have. At least, Ghost had to add some pink slips at night even though it’s single play session and still, Unbound doesn’t have. Worthless night high heat races in Unbound gets users tired and go back to Heat or other racing games. And the last, pathetic story on campaign. Though Heat was in critics boring and repeating stories from previous NFS and Fast & furious like clichés, IT HAD MAIN STORY LINES. And still, Unbound doesn’t have. Was it Robin Hood of street with Yaz? Or just a gambler with Tess? Lack of story with short play time on campaign was another disappointing matters of Unbound. Was it worth buying full-price? Definitely NO. Discount almost over 80%of full-price? Maybe… as a car tuning simulator?

I bought NFS Heat for $3.50, and I dropped it in less than 3 hours of play. The cars' handling is just wrong. I have hundreds of hours in FH5, it just got the arcady handling right.

The only reason I prefer unbound over heat is literally because I own a PS5. NO I'M JOKING BUT ALL JOKES ASIDE I STILL PREFER UNBOUND OVER HEAT BECAUSE IT'S NOT JUST A ONE-CAR BEATS ALL. There are meta cars in unbound yes but there are multiple meta cars and in heat all you got to do is get to 911 Porsche and your set 🤷 Also unbound actually felt like an arcade style just zoom down the road game. Heat is the Payback everyone wanted and, Heat could be better if it wasn't for EA themselves. EA wanted to give the torch back to torch but got suprised when Ghost games released Heat. Heat should have given more times for updates. But EA shut down Ghost games just like they did with Blackbox and then turned off the games updates. Heat still has more players then Unbound despite 5 years later without any updates Ghost knew how to make a game they gave their best at the end.Unbound sucks not only for the graphics but also for gameplay.

let's not forget that unbound is initially $60+ and you have 5 updates all costing over $15 each so you spend the same money 2x on a game and you get a bad game compared to heat. with heat you spent it once, and there was the small afterprice of the Mclaren F1 pack and you got anything. and heat is objectively better than unbound.

Why Heat is better : 1. AI is better. Both cops and racers. 2. Cop spawn rate. My biggest issue with Unbound is that you can't get a break, while Heat, which has a point of getting notorious, gives you the ability to do sanctioned races without being bothered by cops all the time. 3. The economy. Even late in the game, it's difficult to build a nice lineup of upgraded cars without grinding over and over again relentlessly. In Heat, you do a few races and you already have more than enough. Now, I'm not saying that I like things to be given to me, like a Forza Horizon game, but that Heat had a perfect balance. And Criterion managed to screw it up. 3. Rubber banding. Jesus Christ... I swear, every race feels rigged in Unbound. No matter how good you are, you will struggle. Even on "relaxed" difficulty. 4. The story. Heat had likable protagonists and good voice actors. The story was good too for a racing game. Instead of continuing with them, they choose the worst possible ones for Unbound. Also...who gave the main voice actor a job ? He sounds like he's about to give a TED talk...

I bought Unbound for $7 the other day and refunded it within an hour. I really enjoyed Heat besides the extremely cringe story, so I figured for such a deep discount I should get Unbound. I had just beat the story missions and had around 70 hours played into Heat when I bought Unbound. Somehow Unbound managed to make an even more cringe story while also being the same thing, way worse music, stupid cartoon effects you can't even turn off, worse cars, live tuning removed for some reason (????), I didn't even care it was only $7. It's such a terrible game and a blatant, massive step down from Heat. I barely played and found tons of things clearly worse than Heat. What a dumpster fire of a game. EA should be ashamed.

I feel entirely the opposite, and I'm not one that despised Unbound or anything like that... It's just the sum total of parts for some reason. I actually really like the music and artwork, but the latter slowly became annoying to me, and I don't care for the boost mechanics nearly as much as the simpler system in Heat. But I'm not much of an online racer in either one.... Just the physics and world and feel of Heat brings me back again and again for long sessions, while Unbound just sorta burned hot and went out for me.

@@therealchickentender That's interesting, I didn't *dislike* Heat per se, but I just didn't vibe with the vibe, which is a huge part of the NFS experience for me. I actually love the new boost mechanics, it's the thing that keeps me returning to Unbound. The cops were probably better in Heat though - although I'd really like if they scrapped the whole health system (at least partly) and introduced pursuit breakers again. You know how it is - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

If you ask me I think they should completely ditch the current handling physics and go for possibly some sort of combination of Blackbox era NFS handling and Criterion's own Burnout Paradise's handling. Drifting in Paradise genuinely looks and feels like drifting, and cars in, say, MW05 genuinely grip or understeer trying.

@@J.PC.Designs To be fair, racing games on PC always have a WAY LOWER playerbase than console. With the exception of the OG Hot Pursuit 2010, the other NFS games came after it died probably months into release on PC. Hell even Heat on PC has 4 players per lobby just after a week of release before cross-play was a thing. NFS games on PC nowadays can't survive online without cross-play.

I 100% completed both NFS heat and unbound and in my personal opinion unbound is the better game. The driving physics are better and more responsive, the burst NOS is just amazing, the car building is better, customization is better, there are more cars to play. On the other hand the story and solo progression in unbound is far worse. Now there are things like bugs, or that solo progression doesnt transfer to online, or that the map is not as memorable as in heat (imo) or that music is bad. And one of the big complaints that many people have is the art style, which imo is unjustified. I was not a fan of realistic graphics mixed with cartoonish effects at first as well, but when I actually played the game and gave it a try, now I think the effects really fit in and I really like them. Overall, the racing experience is better and more fun in unbound, but the solo campaign is bad.

I'm gonna tell my opinion of why nfs s*cks....era of most wanted ended, we got games with better physics since...nfs should move on and provide that...stop giving unrealistic driving and especially AI...the game is not forgiving for you if you know to drive...it just makes the AI stupid fast so you race only on the last 100m...doesn't matter what happens in the race, only the last 100m counts...so...not buying any ea games looks safe enough
