If I had it in my budget to run a full sized truck, I'd look for something like this over most new stuff. That's a timeless truck.

0:26 " Turn that shit off" Boy is that familiar for anyone who lives through a cold winter! Turn on the ignition with the fan wide open and get a face full of cold air, makes you question why you live in a place with a cold winter.

Up here in buffalo ny when I had my old truck's. I used a edelbrock with electric choke. when set up all I needed to do was spin the motor over without hitting the gas pedal. just to watch the oil pressure gauge move. Then shut the key off hit the pedal one time and crank and it would fire up and high idle till it warmed up. After warming up I tap the gas and let it idle .

Get a Actron CP9690 code tester. It checks live, record, graphing, transmission tests, emissions tests, oxygen sensor tests, and MORE on computer cars. It works from 1983-2013 and is updatable.

Fuel Injection Sucks It was viewers with cars with a computer. I know it isn't fuel injected. I don't like fuel injection either! They breakdown and parts are made cheap. Those that do have fuel injection might could use my tip for their car. I'm having trouble with my sway bar bushings and I just happen to have an old bracket in my trunk that fit. I've bought a bunch of bushings and finally think I know how to rig it. Speed bumps are hell on front ends! Keep yours up and stay away from 'fool injection!'

Man, if I pumped mine that many times its be flooded for the day. I mean one full pump and a couple small ones pumps when it was -3 and it started and stayed running, just gave it a little throttle and one quick rev once it started.

Yall need to understand a single in dual out isn't dual exhaust lol. I plug one side when people tell me my car is dual exhaust to prove if the air still comes out or not lol. Its more of a look than preformace these days which sucks tbh.

I killed two of the giant old sbc starters like that. Then I picked up a starter off of a 97 lt1 Camaro (it’s a mini starter for 1/2 the $) and problem solved. I might be weird but I like starting non fuel injected vehicles in the cold for fun.

Did you have to hold the gas? I don't have my choke hooked up and if I don't hold the gas my truck will die
@techflight86807 жыл бұрын
r R what you should try doing is holding the gas for a few seconds and see if you can get it to idle
@rR-vs9bo7 жыл бұрын
JarynGames I actually finally hooked up a choke and I have to hold the gas for a second and then it'll idle without dying so it's good for now anyways

Ok, after seeing tons of these cold start videos, can someone please tell me what the point of these are? I am REALLY missing it. I’ve pretty much only owned old vehicles with carbs, and I live in one of the worst areas in america for snow. Starting a cold, classic vehicle in the freezing cold is a dreaded part of my day to day life, why do you all geek out over this so much?
@tank24496 жыл бұрын
shit where ever you live isnt anthing compared to living in the rocky mountains of montana when it is -20 out. all my truck start just fine, i have a 85 suburban a 84 s10 and a 72 chevy 3/4 ton plow truck. i crank them all for about 5-10 seconds to get some oil flowing and build fuel pressure since they all have mechanical fuel pumps, and then 3 slow pumps of the peddle and they all fire right up no matter the temp/

Its just badass to see a 50 or 60 year old vehicle still start up like nothing in freezing weather...i love it!
@JimBronson5 жыл бұрын
It was a dreaded part of my life when I was young too because I always wondered when the old Chevy station wagon was going to finally start, especially when we went to the mountains as the altitude would mess with the carb. I think the real problem was my dad didn't really know how to tune it up. He went from the Chilton book with some really cheap tools and thought he was doing it right. If I had to do it all over again with the knowledge I have today, the first thing I would have told my dad to do is chuck the old points and condenser distributor and drop in an HEI. I guess you could do a Pertronix type deal too but I don't guess they probably had those back in the mid-late 70s. A secondary thing might have been to dump the Rochester 2-jet in favor of a square bore Holley 2 bbl with electric choke, whatever Holley that would fit the manifold. Anyway.... Fast forward to today, it's interesting to see how well old cars do (or don't) start compared to my personal experience. I guess since you're still rocking one maybe it's rubbing salt in the wound so to say. My daily driver has direct injection and coil on plug ignition and there is absolutely zero drama involved in starting it whether it's 20 or 120 out. So long as the battery has power, it will start easily. I don't think I've ever cranked it more than a full second. Most of the time it's a fraction of a second. So the old ones are interesting to me.

Remember we won the war and earned the right not to use the metric system.
@GERntleMAN Жыл бұрын
@@FuelInjectionSucks That's about near the dumbest thing I've heard an US citizen say. Neither did YOU win the war nor do you earn the right NOT to use the metric units. You worked for that. You chose to lag behind as a society while your science is using metric since they wanted machines that could win a war 80 years ago. Making it sound like a privilege to use imperial measurements... it's like dining with the pigs chewing on roots is a privilege. Why use fork and knife on a steak, right? That's the spirit!
