This is frustrating to watch. Why can't the police helicopters actively take action to halt the chase? Why can't they drop a net over the car that would entangle the wheels and stopped it? There must be at least 20 different viable active tactics that police helicopters could take to halt a life threatening police chase. How many cars were damaged; how many people will have to file insurance claims; how many lives were in danger? Police helicopters could do a lot more than simply track.

possible loss of concentration for a second or two, realised over corrected the steering then tried to counter the over steer, that caused the vehicle to swerve to opposite direction, possibly tried to correct the swerving, then each time the swerving gets bigger, the tyres then begin to heat up, the inertia of the car weaving about plus the weight of the car puts more strain on the tyres until eventually they lose traction, then the vehicle is out of control, it lurches over the carriageway, i should think the driver is panicking now and is applying the brakes heavily, this makes the situation worse and the car spins and strikes the central reservation barriers. tyres only have limited contact with the ground, too much is being asked of the tyres in most incidents like this, 1: the vehicle accelerating, this relies on traction and grip from the tyre. 2: the vehicle swerving also requires traction and grip from the tyre 3: Braking, that also requires the above functions of the tyre. so in essence the driver was asking for 3 jobs for the vehicle to perform, all of which in all 3 instances relied heavily on the tyres. Its no wonder the car crashed!! That's why racing drivers are trained to get all their braking done before cornering, less for the tyres to do and able to maintain control easier, then power out of the final part of the corner, all the time giving less for the tyre to do!
