Very nice! This really makes me want to study grappling and joint manipulation via the sword. Sharing so I can find it later.

At 3:53, using the ground as a binding point for the blade...brilliant! The ground is a wonderfully effective tool for the fencer that's always there.

Fiore's book shows a technique that involves stepping on your opponent's blade and trapping it with your boot....

This is awesome. I just discovered the Hema community and I can pretty much guarantee that I will become involved at some point. I have been invovled with Progressive Fighting Systems and the Filipino Martial Arts in the past and so many of these concepts are familiar to me, but the fact that this is part of my cultural heritage puts it over the top. This has actually taught me something about my other martial arts training and I sure hope that this stuff explodes in popularity.

***** Good for you comrade, HEMA is mind blowing amazing, so many misconceptions about WMA have been blown out of the water. A bit of heads up from me to you good sir, their is allot of drama between ARMA and The-HEMA Alliance as a whole, my advice would be to recognize talent and skill where it is owed and ignore the shit talk. I don't want to give you the wrong idea but as you said you have FMA experience then my guess you are familiar to some extent the drama and rivalry between different schools. That being said HEMA is amazing, it has many many different weapons within it and many many different unarmed techniques as well, I believe it covers antiquity clear up to say WW2 and everything in between, this is a huge stretch of time and many options to choose from. I hope you get involved and fall in love with the arts as I have, cheers comrade.

Doyle Goregutz Oh the drama. Damn Drama. My research didn't lead me to find a HEMA school in Indianapolis where I live so I've decided to focus on my BJJ game for now (i have 6 months left in Indy) and get serious about Hema down the road. That being said these damn Jui Jitsu trolls and MMA fanboys as much as I love them have no freaking idea how much there is to training. There is actually a BJJ world champion that trains at my gym (she's a grown woman with kids, imagine not doing your chores in that home, lol) and I was taking notes of the class. She noticed and admitted how she 'lost her passion for it' and at another point she indicated she was thinking about going back to school. WTF, How sad. She'd never get bored if she got into weapons training.

Do these principles work when facing against multiple attackers? I'd like to see a video of how to defend/fight against 2 or more attacks.

You can trap and use your opponent as a shield similar to in ju-jitsu we lock then move and use the trapped person as our weapon as we break them.

This is play fighting, you can't go full speed or even target your opponents head, if you aren't fighting with protection you are just dancing for the instructor
