I was a bit confused at the beginning for a second when you said the ff equivalent was wider - took me a minute to remember the GFX was Medium format haha. These images are beautiful, what a fantastic looking lens, taken by a well versed shooter of course.

These Fuji medium format lenses are huge
@AfF3lix Жыл бұрын
Yeah i mean they have to resolve 50-100mp But for a 25-50 f3,2 they should be smaller
@atselykovskiy Жыл бұрын
@@AfF3lix There are some speculations that Nikon Z and/or Canon R mount were made ready for larger sensor. In that case some existing lenses for these mounts may cover medium format too.

@@atselykovskiyz 135 plena , rf 28-70 2.0 and more have huge image circles. In the moment they use it for ibis. For me personally bigger sensors are only useful if they are offered with wider aperture Lens. 50mp is enough for me and FF lenses can resolve that. A Medium Format 105 F1,2 would be nice. It would be like a 85mm 0.95 on FF Otherwise the lens/camera combo would just get more fov and better Noise at the same Aperture. Thats why im not interested in MF In terms of Bokeh there is no step up from FF And MF is not flexible enough right know just mho

I bought this instead of the 35-70 on the strength of some reviewer comparisons, and it is a nice lens. It’s definitely not Fuji’s intended _kit_ lens, as that’s what the 35-70 is for. It is a beast though. I have several medium format cameras and lenses, but only one zoom besides this (a Mamiya, which is smaller), and I find this one a pain to lug around. Most of the time my GFX100S has the compact 50mm lens on it. Now that is a good “kit lens”!
@AveryDelMiller Жыл бұрын
You should mess around with the 35-70! I've been pretty happy with the quality of it for a "kit" lens. Also, a lot smaller, but not that it matters on these already massive camera bodies
@fepatton Жыл бұрын
I’m thinking I should have gone for that one instead of the 32-64. I think the 35-70 is missing manual aperture maybe (?), but I’ve ended up leaving my 32-64 in auto-aperture all the time anyway so it wouldn’t have been a loss!

This lens is notorious for its field curvature at wider angles, did you test it refocussed at the corners?

Have this and the GF110 F2; 32-64 is really easier to use. The 110 really hi lights any procedure mistakes, when you get it all correct, the 110 is brilliant; the 32-64 is more forgiving.

I have the GF 20-35. It is much sharper than this lens plus has internal focus and zoom. Along with the GF 100-200 and the GFX50R it's all you need for landscape work. Even the Fujifilm MTF charts on their website shows the 20-35 to be much sharper. As it's one of their newer lenses it should be.

In a few weeks Nikon will launch the Z6III, a few months ago Nikon launched the ZF. Most reviewers choose the Z8 as the camera of the year. Third party lenses are more and more (Viltrox, TTartisan, Yongnuo, Meike, etc) and is rumored that will be an ultra fast version of the Z9, the Z9H before the Olympics.

My all time favorite walk-around, do-all, take-anywhere, shoot-anything lens for my GFX system. Big you say? Get over it or just shoot "200MP" with your Galaxy S23/24 Ultra! Double the resolution and 1/20th of the size and weight! Wow, who needs "big" stuff? All problems solved🤭🤭🤭

@@SomeDudeSomewhere If what you want is quality, absolutely. Next to that the only step up is PhaseOne costing 100 grand for a basic setup. But if you just playing around, your iPhone is certainly enough. And I mean an iPhone 4 because it's all the same crap.

What is the point to buy a £7000 camera with 100MP sensor and use a lens that is soft in the corners? I'm not impressed
@Stealther Жыл бұрын
Great review as always but IMO you don't buy a GFX only to put a meh lens like this on it, but that's just me.
@ZeLoShady Жыл бұрын
How would you consider this a 'meh' lens? Also, people gotta start somewhere, that's the entire point of kit lenses.
@Stealther Жыл бұрын
@@ZeLoShadyit’s unremarkable in its performance across the board. I don’t know many people who start their photography journey with a medium format digital camera but I suppose if you did you might be impressed by it. However, if you started on other systems you likely have used better performing/more unique lenses than this one and thus may be underwhelmed by it. Don’t get all butt-hurt that one guy on the Internet doesn’t like the lens you use. If you like it, that’s all that matters.
@ZeLoShady Жыл бұрын
@@Stealther Why do you think someone asking for clarification on your opinion means they are butt-hurt? I didn't understand where you were coming from and wanted to know more. What's wrong with that? As far as the lens goes, my point about people starting somewhere is more to do with the overall cost of the system. I'm not talking about someone who wakes up one day and decides to start photography with MF, that's just ridiculous lmao. These bodies are very, very expensive and totally different in capabilities from FF cameras so buying the body with a cheaper lens is a great way to find out of the system works for you before upgrading to a better lens, especially given the cost of GFX lenses.

What's the point? F/4, not F/1.2... so by just using an f/1.2 lens on full frame, I get all the same shallow DOF again, and i can also shoot at lower ISO making up for any medium format low light. So uou just lost all your relevant advantages you paid $5,000 more for ... ???
