I mentioned in the video "made in UK" and the online rumours of possibly Ilford making it for Fuji. No one knows for sure, it's all speculation. But who cares. The return of Acros 100 (II) is exciting news for everyone that loved the original.
@iNerdier
@iNerdier 4 жыл бұрын
Apparently it's equally likely they're just finishing it for them. Very well possible Fuji makes the film but doesn't still have the machinery to put it into cans / on spools and Ilford has some spare capacity. Which is also apparently Kodak's problem at the moment.

I haven' finished watching yet but I need to write this now: I love that you did not choose some beatiful young girl but bit older gentleman. Exactly opposite to one of the comments where someone wrote something like: but not older people... It was among those ideas when you asked what to photograph with Acros. Thank you for your choice which I read as implicite comment to that remark. Now I get back to watching.

A good comparison with a nice print of Walter at the end. I didnt realise they made Acros in the UK. Does this mean they ship it to Japan, import it back to the UK with a markup and import duties. It sounds like £12 a roll to me and a huge carbon footprint. Im pleased they are bringing it back and hopefully distribution will be streamlined in the not too distant future.

I got a couple of the Acros II 120 rolls as an added bonus from a camera purchase. I shot one and I really liked how the negatives looked: sharp, dense, clean, and fine grain. Even if the pictures were bad, the exposure itself was beautiful. I even bought 5 rolls of 35mm when it was on sale. It's really not worth the asking price of $13. I could buy 2 rolls of FP4 for that.

At $10-13 a roll USD, I don’t know if I can justify the new Acros over Delta 100. I’ve shot about 50-60 Rolls of the original Acros and maybe 40 rolls of Delta 100. And not only is Delta 100 cheaper, it is more pleasing to my eye and I have had better results pushing it to 200. I’m glad that Ilford is involved in the manufacturing process as that will provide my favorite brand some additional income. But I am guessing that additional player and logistical burden is the reason for the price increase.

And with the Brexit Acros Ii could easy "sell" for 16,50 Euro . Acros was my film from 2006 to 2019 , now I use the Delta 100 . Delta 100 also print easy in the darkroom on fiber paper .

With the halation on the shoulders, would a different lens help with that? I choose certain lenses for the effect in colour with older varieties, it's a faint 'glassy' violet blue. Dunno. I have a few rolls left from last year, one in an F100 I'm taking odd exposures of oscilloscope screens with a tripod. God knows how they'll develop. Probably wasted.

@@ShootFilmLikeaBoss there are two other possibilities... I am adamant about using a hood on lenses. maybe some of the flash entered tangentally? also, if your eye was not composing during all the shot, you might use a piece of black tape over eyepiece to prevent stray light from entering the chamber backwards and around the raised mirror to ultimately reach the film plane.

Never tried Acros so when Acros ii came out I picked up a roll of 120, ouch expensive, thought I'd give it a try. Not impressed, yes the image is smooth, however, it's a royal pain to handle. If you didn't know anything about the film I would of thought it is a student film. It's very thin not easy to get on film reel, when you try to get it in the holder to scan due to it extreme curve very difficult to get into and keep in the film holder. often took me several tries to get it in the scanner and hope it's flat enough to scan. The film is very thin, I also shot a roll of Tmax and scanned them at the same time. Tmax's thicker film with less curve much easier to load on reel and to scan. I wonder if the original Acros that Fuji made is thicker. I remember when Fuji dropped Acros many claimed Ultrafine Extreme was simular. UE is also thinner then Tmax but easier to work with then Acros ii. The results are somewhat simular but with slightly higher contrast. You can buy three roll of UE for the price of one roll of Acros ii. I developed both rolls of film in H-110 b and I will be sticking with Tmax and UE for now.

If it is made by Ilford, does this mean Fuji is providing their chemicals and just outsourcing the manufacturing to Ilford or does it mean we're literally getting a rebranded Ilford film? If it's genuine Fuji chemicals made the way Fuji would make it, I'm fine with it, but if it's a rebranded Ilford film, I have no interest. I don't like the look of Ilford.
