I have had this camera since 2007. Since then, I have taken more than 140,000 pictures with it. Fast, accurate, in terms of IsSO, one of the best bridge/compacts I've ever used. (ISO 800 is perfectly usable for 10x15 photos.) The only downside is the xd card, but you can still find spare cards these days.

I agree it is a fantastic camera, xd cards have to be respected as they can get corrupted more easily. Having manual zoom is a godsend and with good care this camera will last a lifetime!

I also had this camera starting in the 2006 or 2007 range and took a lot of photos with it. My only complaint was it's not very sharp, and that's probably mostly due to the lens, and perhaps not great jpeg compression - the images are very "blocky" looking even at the highest image quality setting. Just looking at it still sitting in a drawer with another older camera (Nikon D3000) which I kindof 'inherited' that I never took many pictures with, as I'm contemplating purchasing a new camera for a trip soon!

Theses cameras use the same super ccd from the F30, F20 & F31fd which were the best for there time.
@AvidRetro Жыл бұрын
That's right it was a dual combination of the super ccd and the best megapixel count for the sensor which led to this range of cameras being quite significant. I actually had a F20 around the same time and it was and still is a great camera!

Recently dug this camera out since back in the 2000s when I first got it. Really nice bit of glass on it, good sensor for the time, and other little foibles are forgiven for the price point. It took some great pics, even in Auto, but the other day I was shooting at sporting event and was disappointed by something in the final output, compression or similar, outdoors with ISO 100. So, have started using it in RAW mode which seems OK and this might give it a new lease of life despite the advances in phone cameras as my phone can't beat the optical zoom. The time/date/memory no longer lasts between battery changes, ah well.

Thanks for your reply. It is a camera worth keeping given the sensor. It’s a nice weight and looks like a more expensive camera. At least it’s useful to have the RAW option.

very nice macro mode

It's not bad, it's a nice camera, just feels a little bit heavy these days to carry around for what it is, however it still takes some nice shots if you ignore the purple fringing in bright pictures.
@winfuture98149 ай бұрын
Is it worth buying today?
@AvidRetro9 ай бұрын
Probably not if you dont like slight purple fringing... BUT if you want a zoom ccd camera, ok in low light, not many megapixels, shoots RAW, lasts a long time on batteries then this is the camera to try!

I have just bought the S7000 for my young grandson to use as an introduction. It hasn't arrived yet but is without a memory card. I am slightly confused with the type of memory card required. I am told that the max is 1GB Compact Flash card or XD card. I have seen the flash card described as Type 1 and type 11. Do you know what one I should buy? Thank you.
@AvidRetro6 ай бұрын
Hi I would think an older Type 1 should be fine. I tend to use XD cards in the Fuji cameras I have but need to be careful about taking them out of the camera and using them in a card reader. Always seat the card in the reader before connecting to the computer. Also never remove the XD when camera is powered on.

It shoots raw.
@AvidRetro Жыл бұрын
Thanks - I hadn't realised that. I used mine in it's default settings. This makes the camera very useful even nowdays for taking pictures if you post process the raw images afterwards.
@DFermain Жыл бұрын
I forgot to add that it appears to shoot raw in all modes, including auto, which is unusual.

Hello, I wanna ask that if the camera say in memory full, I erased all the photos still same, what should I do?
@AvidRetro9 ай бұрын
Hi are you having difficulty deleting in memory photos or from the memory card? If in built memory, have you tried ejecting memory card first and then trying to delete them inside the camera.
@changtsuyoshi49379 ай бұрын
@@AvidRetro actually I didn't use memory card, only use built-in memory

I want to transfer my photos directly from my camera to my iPhone with USB, is there any way? Now I transfer them to my phone after transferring them to my computer.
@AvidRetro4 ай бұрын
Possibly. I haven't tried this method myself: Connecting an old camera directly to an iPhone for downloading photos can be done, but it requires the right accessories and setup. Here’s how you can do it: ### Required Items 1. **USB Camera Adapter**: Apple offers a Lightning to USB Camera Adapter for iPhones with a Lightning port. For iPhones with a USB-C port, you might need a USB-C to USB adapter. 2. **Camera USB Cable**: The cable that connects your camera to a USB port. ### Steps 1. **Connect the USB Camera Adapter to the iPhone**: - If your iPhone has a Lightning port, use a Lightning to USB Camera Adapter. - If your iPhone has a USB-C port, use a USB-C to USB adapter. 2. **Connect the Camera to the Adapter**: - Plug the camera’s USB cable into the camera. - Plug the other end of the USB cable into the USB Camera Adapter connected to the iPhone. 3. **Turn on the Camera**: - Power on the camera and set it to the correct mode for USB connection (usually, this is playback mode, but it depends on the camera model). 4. **Import Photos**: - The iPhone should automatically recognize the camera and open the Photos app with an import screen. - Select the photos you want to import and tap “Import Selected” or “Import All.” ### Troubleshooting - **Compatibility**: Ensure your camera is supported by checking its manual or the manufacturer’s website. - **Power Issues**: Some older cameras might require more power than the iPhone can provide through the adapter. In such cases, you might need a powered USB hub. - **Software Update**: Make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS to ensure compatibility with the USB Camera Adapter. ### Alternative Method If direct connection is problematic, another method is to transfer photos from the camera to a computer first, and then transfer them to the iPhone via iCloud, AirDrop, or iTunes.
