The point about getting into the xpro line is so true. I love my xpro3, is a hell of a camera and I genuinely enjoy using it. Here’s the thing, I shot mainly on manual slrs for the better part of the two years I have been shooting so when I picked the xpro it just felt natural. I only use the OVF and manual focus like on my other older cameras. It an amazing camera for street photography if you’re used to a manual set up. The APS-C sensor gives me more depth of field which is great for zone focusing and it has allowed me to get great shots I could do with AF. Over all an amazing tool for this purpose but I really would pick it for any other type of photography.

If you are a pure photographer and need a non-Leica shooting experience the X-Pro3 is the camera for you. I often compare it as the APS-C version of the Leica M-D since Leica doesn't seem to want to update the Leica CL which I own as well and am selling so I can buy another X-Pro3. I am a street photographer as a serious hobby and I'm a portrait photographer for paying customers. I use the X-Pro3 for both and it has never failed me. Everything is right about the camera and I've felt that way since the first time I held it in my hands. Mind you, I've own several Fujifilm cameras and I liked them all for differing reasons. Until I purchased the X-Pro3 the X-E3 was my all-time favourite Fujifilm camera. It's my hope that IBIS will be added to the X-Pro4, the screen will be left as is and Fujifilm will find a way to provide a better rangefinder experience with the OVF. I'd love to use the OVF more when I shoot. The last thing I'd love to see from Fujifilm is a manual focus only version of a 18mm, 33mm & 56mm f1.4 lenses with contacts on them like the ones from Voigtlander. Bottom line, the X-Pro3 is the best rangefinder inspired alternative to the Leica M10 but with more features.
@SergioMusel2 жыл бұрын
I would love to see the set of manual primes from Fuji; I guess they would be even better and smaller. But before that they need to fix the manual focusing experience in X-Pro cameras, even though it's rangefinder style, it's still better off in autofocus mode...
@d.idowuolutosin42502 жыл бұрын
@@SergioMusel indeed. I too would love to see a trio of manual focus primes from Fujifilm. The could call them the Street Photography Trio. That said, I've never liked the autofocus experience with my X-Pro3 or any Fujifilm cameras I've own to be honest. Because I shoot film on rangefinders and SLR's as well as shoot manual focus on my Leica CL mirrorless, I work to replicate the same experience across all the cameras I shoot with. Focus peaking is my friend on the X-Pro3 but I'd prefer a real rangefinder patch any day over focus peaking especially when using the OVF. Wishful thinking on my part. I don't seem Fujifilm becoming that niche in their offerings as it relates to manual primes and a better rangefinder experience. They have been tight lipped about the future X-Pro4. So we all have to wait and see.
@RichardEllaPhotography2 жыл бұрын
X-Pro3 was first foray into rangefinder style camera and have to say I love a lot about this camera. Makes me want to bring it with em and take photos. Given I need reading glasses to see the screen I actually prefer to use the diopter adjusted EVF on all my cameras so I actually like that the rear screen is hidden. The only one thing that frustrates me on this camera is that I can not find a comfortable solution for Back Button Focus. The AE-L/AF-L button is just too much of a stretch for my hands and the other buttons seem awkwardly placed.

I started out ages and ages ago in the film era, so something like a Minolta x700 or Pentax k1000 is what feels right in my hands. Tech advance, etc are normal and cameras evolve. I switched to digital probably within the last 10 years and while I love it, it just feels like something is missing in the way most of them feel in my hands. Then I saw this camera...this thing seems exactly like what I've been on a quest to find. Simple and to the point letting me actually focus ON photography. Sure, I can raise a camera to my eye and shoot away with blazing fast AF, 300 FPS, etc..., but I like taking my time and enjoying the entire process. Checking out my composition, putting interesting things into the frame, dark darks and bright brights, etc. Not sure if this camera is discontinued (I've been having a devil of a time finding one new) but hoping to get my hands on this soon and start having some fun with it

@@SergioMusel thank you for the reply! In your opinion, which do you think is the better buy for this Fuji…the 23mm f2 or the 23mm f1.4 lm aw? I’m kind of looking for a one camera body, one prime lens combo that I can use for most everything as a daily carry. The 23 (35) is a length I usually use on my Leica TL2 so that’s probably my preferred length at the moment. Just not sure if the f2 or f1.4 is the better choice on the xpro 3…thanks in advance!
@SergioMusel2 жыл бұрын
@@Deetroiter I haven't used f2 version, but from what people say it doesn't have a good reputation in terms of performance. I must admit though that the f2 size will fit X-Pro body much better than anything else, it won't make it front heavy and won't block the OVF. On the other hand, the MF/AF clutch on older 1.4 is super nice to work with. Lastly, if ultimately the goal is performance than the new 1.4 LM is a no-brainer. There is also an alternative, the new fully manual voigtlander 23 1.2 for X mount is gonna work much better for experience than the linear af lenses
@zvitkovits2 жыл бұрын
I share most of your insights after using them (XP2 & XP3) since 2018. But all of them have one great weakness: the OVF experience. Especially it is too small. That is the only important fix / upgrade for the XP4 required and they need to improve on the EVF too. Not fixing the OVF will most probably cause my ‘exit’ from the XP platform.

Most people who own or think about holding the x pro series of cameras should be happy. The camera is of beauty and is a very capable one. It has so many tech and deserves that "pro" in the name even if I find it to be cheesy cause "pro" is everywhere and doesn't mean sh*t anymore... I digress... Next xpro4? Man, Better flip screen (although not like the xt4), coupled rangefinder AND TRUE FUJINON MANUAL LENSES. Oh boy...

Ur general who is digital native won’T stastify with this fujiflim aprroch. Professional want to view image this must add one step to the work flow, open the screen. Consumer in this digital era, embrace its instant gratification which reject this style of camera control. Generally the target of this camera is too small for it to continue production line. Hey - the reason for asking about a shutter count is NOT to see if the camera is good or not - KNOWING the shutter count gives an indication of HOW MUCH USE it has had, so if the camera looks like it has been draged through a sand pit and has only done 10k shots, well obviously it has NOT BEEN LOOKED AFTER. I take offence to idiots who challenge a person just because they ask how many shots it has taken. Wake up, when you buy a car, do you not look at the milage and compare it to the condition of the vehicle. So to ask about shutter count you are not a freak. Perhaps look in the mirror!
@SergioMusel Жыл бұрын
If camera was taken care of - does it matter if it’s old? And if the shutter is low and camera is new but looks like crap - does it mean it’s a better buy? So ultimately, no matter how you look at it, appearance is more indicative of age and usage than shutter. Shutter count used to be checked on DSLRs because their mileage was relatively limited and they weren’t as reliable. In addition, it also involves the flipping mirror, so it’s more expensive and difficult in servicing. Your analogy with cars is faulty as well. Mileage for the car is important not because “it shows age”😂 Higher mileage means more oil and gas consumption, as well as the probability of expensive repairs and maintenance replacements. Buying a car is far more complex than “looking at the mileage and comparing it to the condition”. That’s a rookie approach. And the same with cameras. If I sell a 2-3 year old camera and the first thing a buyer asks is “what’s the shutter” - I don’t even answer😂
