You're speaking to me, Andrew! I have an X-T20 (which I absolutely love) and have been considering upgrading to an X-T2 for these EXACT reasons. I wear glasses as well, so have to suffer with a much smaller view through the EVF, or move my head around to check each corner of the frame. Not being able to touch-focus while composing- so have to resort to clicking the directional buttons a dozen times instead, and lack of weather sealing (it rains A LOT in western Washington). The prices are incredibly low right now for a new (to me) X-T2 in 2021, that I may pick one up. Thanks for your candid opinions and excellent videos!

I am writing this just as the XT 30 has come out. The price on the XT 20 dropped to $500. Now they didn’t last long at that price and I waited a little to long to pick up a brand new camera for that but I did buy a demo for $500. My other body is the Pro 2 with the 23mm f/2.0 mounted, my rainy day camera. The XT 20 is my street camera, with the 27mm f/2.8 or 16mm f/2.8 mounted.

Hi Andrew, and all other commentors, I have a question: I'm an X-T2 user and am thinking about an X-T20 for some upcoming travel; primary reason is the weight and size. But, I'm concerned about the feel of it in-hand; another well-known KZbinr said it's the worst-feeling Fuji to hold! I love the X-T1 grip and the X-T2 is just fine, so I'm just curious for any insights on the X-T20. I've also read that the Megagear leather half case makes it so you can't flip the screen out, in case anyone has any experience with that. Thank you! And thank you for all the amazing videos Andrew!

Currently i have a nikon d3300 with a nikor 35mm f1.8 and a tamron 17-50mm 2.8. I mostly like street photography but also enjoy portraiture with my daughter. I have been eying the x100f for a very long time as the Nikon is a bit big for just being able to carry more often. After watching your videos i am leaning more toward xt20 but with sales now, maybe the xt2. The things driving me to upgrade is af points, flash sync speeds(no hss on dxxxx series) and just because i want more confidence in street photography and the x100f seems like ot would give me a bit of that mental boost.

In the recent update of xt-20, Fuji added the touch focus on the LCD, while simultaneously viewing through the OVF. So one issue less to deal with. Reg the OVF: I feel the XT2 comes with a deeper eye cup when compared to XT 20. But just curious to know, won't the eye cup (accessory sold separately) help people wearing glasses? Sadly nothing can be done about the ISO dial issue you were talking about. Like your reviews Andrew, keep them coming!

Have you ever had an SD card defect on you? I have to admit, I did have one card that stopped reading/writing. But that's only ONE in all of my years of using them. That does pose a risk, but slight. If you shoot weddings or important events for your work, I would agree. The XT2 also offers the battery grip for more battery life, power.. etc.
@AndrewGoodCamera7 жыл бұрын
Yes. Twice. Once when it (fortunately) wasn't anything especially important. But the second time was a foster kid for a her Heart Gallery portrait. We had to reshoot and it was very embarrassing to call the agency to schedule a second time. Since then, I just don't mess around with a shoot that is at all important.
@bh92627 жыл бұрын
It's a no brainer then. You should keep the XT2. Just keep that XT20 for whatever, whenever. What a great value for what it can do. I have been shooting the XT10 for 2 years. Trying to decide between the XT2 or the XT20. I am not currently shooting for money, but let's say, when on vacation... Who wants to lose photos even then.. But is the risk worth the extra money, when you could get the XT20 and a very nice lens, or 2 XT20's for the price of the XT2.. The next version will have touch screen and IBIS, no doubt. So maybe I will get the XT20 now, and wait a couple years for the XT3 or whatever it will be. I LOVE Fuji gear!!
@AndrewGoodCamera7 жыл бұрын
Agreed. As someone who loves doing gear reviews and tries to be impartial per brand, it's hard not to be in love with Fuji.
@bh92627 жыл бұрын
By the way, I also wear glasses, and that has never been an issue with the XT10, but I can't understand why Fuji won't allow a larger eye-cup option for that camera. I would purchase a larger eye-cup. Fujifilm marketing is very intentional, and in my opinion, 'one of the best' brand marketing companies of all time.. The Gear makes it work. If you love your gear you will use it and take it with you.. If you like your gear, it may be at home when you need it...

One of the things that I don't like in my X-T10 is when I'm casually shooting Aperture Priority and set the Shutter speed on 'A', that setting is on the opposite end away from the 'T' setting and the dial doesn't continuously go around, so you'd have to do full rotations to go from 'A' to 'T'. In the X-T2, 'T' 'A' 'B' are all together and the dial rotates continuously. From the photos of the X-T20, I'm guessing that I might be the same. It's a small inconvenience but I really do appreciate it on the X-T2.

I'm new to X and looking at XT20 as a backup/body and used with 12-32mm. I sold a fraction of my Canon gear (semi-retired medium-format advertorial pro), and got a set of nice primes. Unfortunately none of my lenses have WR and I'm thinking I either need a backup body, or I need to get a WR lens. That would probably be the 16mm. It's not really my focal length (I'm a 28mm guy) but its not far. I have the Touit 12, 18, 32, 56 and 55-200. I have most of the Zeiss ZE primes, including the sharp 25mm and flawed 28 with great personality. I don't love 24mm as much as 28, and if I was going to add WR street lens it might be the 16-55. I hate overlapping primes with zooms but I've done it before with Canon and Zeiss. (so the question here is, do I solve for WR with a backup body, or just buy a WR lens? 16mm vs 16-55 for the 18-32 range? I do street documentary work. A lot of B&W. No glasses, and I don't change ISO much (I put a roll in). So, how thoughts on XT20 as backup to XT2? Sounds like yes, especially for my smaller lenses. As long as everyone else asks irrelevant questions, I'm a whore for good glass and thinking hard on that 50-140. It's got that WR and it's a fixed max aperture and doesn't extend. I have a 55-200 in my bag and the weight seems good with my primes (and maybe ok even with another lightweight body!?!?). I kept a Canon 5D4 and 70-200II but that's also the lens that had me look to lighter systems. (so the question here is is the added IQ and WR of the 50-140 worth the weight and balance?) Sorry for the length. Great channel! (Hate the way the text editor killed all the paragraph breaks.)
@AndrewGoodCamera7 жыл бұрын
I see the paragraph breaks. Other than the 50-140, I'm not much of a zoom guy. I just got the 18--55 on the X-E3 kit, and it's growing on me. But if you've seen many of my other vids you'll know how I feel about the 16mm 1.4. You're asking someone who is extremely biased there (best lens ever). Having said that, I really like the 50-140mm. I did a video of it comparing it to the Canon 70-200 which you might find interesting. If you're used to that lens, this one isn't going to quite measure up. But I prefer it (and Fuji in general) due to the lightness and portability. As far as the x-t20, I really like it a lot. X-E3 is currently my backup camera to the x--t2 though. But really it might as well have been the x-t20. Both are equal in my mind (some differences, but I like them both).
@bitmastermac7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for a prompt response! It seems to me that the layout of XTs are most similar and I'm becoming fond of limiting the interfaces I have to deal with. I've seen the comparison video a few times (man, I love your demeanor). I came away with I wouldn't like it much if I was expecting the same. I can't responsibly afford either system, and I already have the Canon. Maybe it's not a star I should reach for in APSC, but just go by weight. The devil on my shoulder says I can't keep it knowing theres a fast constant aperture version out there, with WR. We didn't solve my mid range WR issues. At least the 16 1.4 should give me something new. (Not much; it's a 24.. ƒ2 then?) I kept my Zeiss 21 and 28, flaws and all, when I got a 25 f2 ZE. They're all so good, I can't sell any, and I don't want that again. I also have a Contax 24-85 ƒ3.5-4.5 converted to EF that I love (Zeiss love) BUT, it's that extending front element and a variable aperture. No lens for every day I guess.
@AndrewGoodCamera7 жыл бұрын
I guess I don't shoot much mid range. I'm kind of extreme. I have several mid range primes but hardly ever use them unless it's something very specific, like a wedding party. In my portrait sessions as well as on th estreets it's very simple. Either the 56 1.2 or te 16 1.4. But I'm an extreme guy like that ;)
@bitmastermac7 жыл бұрын
Well, I just returned the 55-200 while I could. What sold me was how small/light the 55-200 is. I can handle more. I had it in my full Fuji kit, added the 1 lb weight of the faster lens, and I was okay. I felt the lb., and I'll feel it more at the end of the day, but I can take out the 56 with the faster zoom. I hope so... I screwed with a great Canon f4LIS by going to a 2.8LII. Luckily not many decisions in photo gear are permanent. So I didn't order a 50-140 yet. I just bought an 80mm 2.8 with a 30 day, free-return ship deal. WHAT?

I was in the market for a new camera and was considering either the Sony A7RII or the Fuji XT-2. I rented the XT-2 for a family trip to Japan to test it but was pretty convinced prior to the trip that I would buy the Sony. Wow, was I surprised. The XT-2 controls are wonderful and it's the only digital camera I've shot to date that I truly enjoyed using. Once I was hooked on Fuji, I looked at the XT-20 but ultimately ended up buying the XT-2 because I wanted the get the accessory power grip (only on the XT-2) and because I really liked having the ISO dial on the top of the camera. By the way, both the XT-2 and XT-20 are a fraction of the cost and weight of the Sony when you build out your kit to include lenses.
@AndrewGoodCamera7 жыл бұрын
That Sony a9 has me intrigued. But I'm such a user experience snob (it's my full time job, after all), like you the Fuji X system is just a shear joy to use. Saving money over more expensive FF options is only an added bonus. I'd still choose Fuji for the joy it is to shoot, even if it was priced the same.

This sort of feels like a silly question, but since I have a few more months of saving up to go before I can buy things anyways..... For someone who wears glasses (and regularly wears polarized sunglasses, but I suppose if need be I could change my regular glasses to non-polarized as I've been thinking of getting Transitions XtraActive in my indoor frames anyways), and with a semi-limited budget (say $2,800-$3k CAD)... Who wants to focus more on street photography, with eventual growth into wildlife and/or motorsports photography... Would you recommend the X-T2 with the 23mm f2.0 and the 35mm f2.0, or the X-T20 with the 16mm f1.4 and a 35mm f2.0 as well? Or even the X-T2 with the kit lens, despite it not being weather resistant? Thanks in advance!
@AndrewGoodCamera7 жыл бұрын
It just depends on what you feel is most important. A great experience during the photography experience, or best possible image quality after. If you care more about the images and are ok working with more difficult shooting conditions, I always recommend starting with a two-lens combination you are excited about (e.g. 23mm & 54mm is a a great pair), and then buy the Fuji body you can afford with what money is left, even if that means an older, used Fuji body. Alternatively, if you want the best possible shooting experience where the camera does as much work as possible so you can just enjoy the moment, but are ok with cheaper glass, buy the x-t2 and kit lens. Just my two cents.

@AndrewGoodCamera6 жыл бұрын
I've heard that from several folks. I have smaller hands, so it doesn't phase me. Getting an extension grip would probably help. Better to get something like that for heavy tripod use anyway.

Denae & Andrew The extension grip could work yep. Im still thinking about getting a used x-t2 with a used 35mm f2 to have a weather sealed camera with probably slightly better ergnomics. By doing that I'd get camera and lens for about 250 bucks more than the x-t20 in New with The kit lens.

Denae & Andrew thx for your response really appreciate it. I have a 100s which I use for street photography and my family holidays, but I hate it's focus issues. Not looking to buy the 100f so that's why I'm considering xt20. Keep up the great work.

What is that little thing stuck on the xt20 at 4:21?

That's a tag put there by our friends at Fuji Pro Rentals so they know it's their stuff :)

Hello! I follow your channel because of your Fujifilm reviews and input but yesterday, while I was browsing KZbin, I found this channel named "Raquel Dean". For some reasons, your videos were uploaded there. Seems like it's not your channel. Upload quality is bad. You might want to check it out.

You are not in focus - focus is on the trees and hut behind. Why haven't you recorded it again?

Dude. I barely have time to vlog in the first pllace. If my message got across, that's sufficient. I care about photography, not my ugly face in focus. Definitely working on the GH5 focusing issues for future episodes though.

Hi Great review, one question: in terms of image quality can we consider the two camera exactely the same? Thx!
