The joystick has been replaced by using the screen as a trackpad. This is faster, more precise, and far superior to a joystick in my view. Ask yourself, would you give up the trackpad on your laptop for a joystick and think it better? Of course not.

First, if you want a great Video Hybrid then spend the money for the Z6 III. It is a video focused model and extremely good for video work as well as being a splendid Still camera. Second, the Fuji cameras that you tout as being less expensive than the Zf are ALL APS format cameras. You are old enough that you should know that building APS cameras is less costly than building Full Frame cameras. It's also a LOT less costly to produce APS lenses. Fuji was actually quite clever in choosing to develop an APS based camera system. On aspect that is a bit baffling is their involvement in Medium Format digital but back when Film was king Fuji featured some really wonderful 120 format cameras. Their 6x9 rangefinder was a real stunner, especially when it was loaded with Kodachrome 64 or Ektar 25.

Did the Nikon Zf replace your Canon R6-2, and is it really as enjoyable as your Fuji cameras, other than the x-100v? I watched 5 of your videos tonight, as I really just kept going, I enjoying them all. I used to watch your Fuji content, so it's been awhile, but somehow the KZbin algorithm reintroduced me to you, and so I've bookmarked your page. Thanks for all that you do. The foster kids story is heartbreaking, and wonderful that you are such a spokesperson and do what you preach.

The compact size has gotta be the best thing about it. I would love to see camera brands put out more premium pancake lenses for travel and street photographers who need the practicality, but desire quality. Is it possible to make something like this with better build quality, easier control of the aperture, sharper edge-to-edge photos, faster focus, and perhaps minimum F-Stop of 2.8 or lower? Maybe to make room in the lens, they can drop the stabilization since IBIS is becoming more common. Maybe it bumps the lens up to $900+, but I think pro photographers would still consider something like that for higher-quality images on their days off.

Film will always win, and then it's all about the optics and then the camera sensor. In my opinion, there was nothing better than the old CCD m9m. The new m11m is great in sharpness (may be better then x2d in b/w), but it doesn't look like film at all.

This was a pleasant surprise for me. I hear a ton of talk about Canon skin tones, but to be quite honest I found Canon to be the worst in the photo at 5:20. Their skin looked incredibly blotchy to me. I actually find myself liking the results from Panasonic a lot. I feel like I never really consider them when looking at cameras. That said, they all are very good. It's just a matter of preference.

The Horizon with the 29F2.8 lens when properly used will actually give you undistorted images at least as sharp as the Blad. Used them both, kept the Russian.

I love the Zf. I’m finding it a great. I recently traded my beloved Fuji XT5 for the ZF and it’s a bit of a learning curve but not really because I trained on film Nikons back in the day so it just feels like my old FE or FM2. With the small rig grip, the ergonomics are fine. Even without it, with primes, fine. In fact, almost comforting. The Zf files have sold me on Nikon again. I’m saving for more lenses and I may even pick up a Z5, just to have as a small backup body.

3:50 Keep in mind the cameras/raw files have embedded profiles, so which ones did you use? this can change the image massively to just a bit. like Sony: PT is slightly brighter than St, SH is used where there image is too dark all over, it recovers the shadows. if the image lacks color and contrast VV for vivid is might be suitable. But keep in mind these don't always work with every image, so see what fits. sometimes St is the best option.

Every photography youtuber should be ruthlessly bullying Nikon over Snapbridge. There are videos going back years trying to help troubleshoot this dogshit. Finally getting to the thumbnail screen only for "Something came up. The application has cancelled the request to choose a device." the second I try to download anything is nasty work. Are there any good android apps for ingesting photos off a card that can sort/filter down to images with a Rating?

For anyone who wants to hone their skills by restricting themselves to one focal length the way to do so is really simple: Simply make up your mind to go out and shoot for the day at only one focal length. (But you still get the option to violate that decision if something really cool comes along.) I also wanted to drop a tip here... even though you only talked about Fuji... For anyone who shoots Nikon DX (crop sensor) cameras... I just got a really cool older zoom lens to use with my older Nikon DX DSLR... the AF-S DX Nikkor 18-200 f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR lens.... (That's equivalent to 300mm at the long end on a full frame camera). It's actually quite decent, with image stabilization, and all the rest... And, yes, it's an "external zoom"... so it sticks out really far when it's zoomed all the way out... but so what... The newer second version, which adds a lock switch, goes for only around $200 on the used market... The older version, which is the same except for that switch, goes for a LOT less... That's a lot of versatility for not much $$$. And the Nikon 18-105mm kit lenses, which aren't that bad either, go for peanuts on the used market. (There is also an 18-300mm version... but it goes for considerably more.)

Hello. My ZF in video mode shutter priority will not go smaller than F8. I tried different lenses but at 1/50 Auto Iso 800 Nlog or 400 HLG the aperture will not go beyond F8. I always use shutter priority on my Canons for video with a 2stop nd. And it covers dynamic lighting changes between all the aperture values at 1/50 and CLOG3 at 800 ISO or CLOG at 400 ISO. Could you test this on your ZF. It would be very helpful. Thank you.

Cool video. To me, the X-T5 and Nikon Zf are sufficiently different to make it fairly easy to choose a favourite. The X-T5 is clearly more physically manageable and lighter, with better battery life, which is great for my hobbyist street photography. I'd LOVE it if my X-T5 had the low light ability, dynamic range and better autofocus of the Nikon Zf - but don't need those things. I'm a bit mystified by native Zf lenses not having an aperture ring but maybe I'd get used to that.

I have been shooting Nikons since 1981. I love the colour outputs from the Nikon Digital cameras. Camera profiles for me, are just a gimmick which doesn't work as it should because you cannot save the WB for each profile, so I just use RAW and have my own presets in View NX. After so many years of shooting film and Digital, what really is needed is a simple system without getting lost in the menu navigation, just try and not just emulate the look of camera but also emulate the simplicity of Nikon FE FE2 FM FM2 etc.

My issues with the Zf are 1.) that its supposed to have a "retro" feel, but the threaded shutter won't accommodate a classic cable release, and 2.) I'm disappointed the Zf cannot properly accommodate a dummy battery for an AC power connection.

Awesome co parisin and I love that you used adobe as well to show that without the house color processing theyre scarily close to each other. I liked canon here because I have a thing for magenta, especially in the wood on the indoor shot. Nikon also looked great, even nikon. Somehow leica was my least favorite, but I sure wouldn't complain if someone dropped one in my hands to use. A tiny white balance miss or tweak makes up a bigger difference than the cameras themselves. Now just for chaos, how about a comparison of legendary cameras for color and ones legendary for rather poorer color? Throw a canon 5D or 5Dmk2, nikon D700, and for funk an a7 original in the mix.. anyways.

I would suggest not doing moving images next time since our eyes have bad visual acuity with sample and hold displays, thats why they shoot video with double the frame rate as shutter speed for the motion blur to make it look correct. Still images switched between also makes it very easy to compare, or even just all at once.

None of those things you listed bother me. But for me the ZF is my relaxing walking around camera that I use to shoot street. I run it in black and white mode most of the time. Haven't shot video with it ever. When I need performance and I need to work I pull out the Z9. Proper tool for the job. You have to admit though, it's a beautiful camera to put in full manual and get back to basics.

Beginner question. If the lens has a 3.5-5.6 aperture that means that my aperture setting should never go above 5.6 ever?
@phamhoanganhkiet3452
@phamhoanganhkiet3452 Ай бұрын
No, you can go to 8, 11, 16 etc. But in term of aperture, bigger number is smaller aperture, example, like if this lens 3.5 to 5.6, 3.5 is max aperture or wide open.

i started with a minolta a2 and switched to a 20d. after a short stint i had to get a very good offer for a 5d. after a good while i added an oly omd em1 with an adapter for the canon lenses. couple weeks ago i got a nikon d200 and an 80 200 2.8 one touch. id like to have a fujifilm pro1 but theyre still expensive together with a lens. anyways i feel like im well setup and the pics so far are VERY pleasing. minolta gone a long time ago and the 20d may rest in peace. so my recommendations for film character dslrs on a budget are the 5d and a d200 with good old lenses. the oly em1 just for the sake of the backbone ;D
