Xt-5 makes a ton of sense for stills only/mostly photogs. Cheaper, same sensor, plenty of speed for nearly all paid events, super easy and familiar for those coming from the xt4 or xt3. This allows you to use both bodies without having to think at all. I think a lot of ppl won’t like the button lay out on the xh2 (some will prefer of course). Same cards as XT series. The screen is easier to use for photography. The ONLY advantage to a flippy is if you are recording yourself. Just an all around awesome value IMO

I was in the same boat but decided to return the XH2. It was harder than I thought as the XH2 really grew on me. I’m not as video focused, so those benefits did not weigh on me as much. Already having the XT2 it’s functionality has become second nature to me. I agree with you the price difference is minimal for all the extras you get with the XH2. Fuji definitely could have given us the better EVF, a CF express card slot, and ability to add a vertical grip for the price.

Had a similar experience I first got the XH2S and loved the specs but soon as the XT5 was announced I returned the XH2s. The higher specs on it were nice to have but since I’m not a video primary shooter they didn’t make much difference in my use. I traded down mainly because of the size. Despite having large hands the grip on the XH2s was not comfortable, I found my self stretching and sometimes hitting the wrong buttons. Ideally, Fuji releases the stacked sensor in the XT5

I have had an X-H2 for 8 months since upgrading from an X-T4 but try as I have, I couldn’t get any way as much enjoyment from using it. I also have an X100VI so have decided to swap over to an X-T5 as using that will be so much easier and fun when switching between the X100 and X-T5. Maybe it’s an age related thing but the dials just work better for me.
@kzr83 Жыл бұрын
Fair enough, Jerred. I got the X-T5 because of the smaller size (a little less intimidating to portrait subjects), the screen mechanism, and the dials, and not just for looks. Sometimes I am in situations where I am not shooting right that second but I'm thinking about my default settings to capture unexpected action or whatever it may be next, and I like to be able to select all the settings without having to turn the camera on and look at screens. Not a make or break thing but I do enjoy that. Rock on 🤘🏻

I agree and bought the XH2. The EVF is the big decider for me. I always ended up buying a grip extender for my XT bodies so no need with H2. Cards are not important as do not rapid fire often. Have CF express set to record movies only. With regard to the bodies, while I like the dials, speed and ISO were always set to auto so not important either. Only part of XT5 I would have preferred on XH2 is the lcd angle verses flip.

There can only be one!! They are both great cameras.The X-T5 is my designated compact travel camera. I am going to try out the rented X-H2s tomorrow for a dance performance.
@stanobert3475 Жыл бұрын
I used a rental XH-2s for a dance performance last night. It is a little beast! The autofocus isn't as good as my Z9, but it is still quite good. The buffer never quits. I unintentionally changed the primary card slot to the SD rather than the CF Express card, so the performance suffered a bit. This is a very impressive camera! I will rent an X-H2 camera and compare it to the X-H2s before I decide on which model to purchase. I could use the higher resolution X-H2 model for cropping if it is fast enough for sports type photography. I also used my everyday XT-5, but it simply isn't in the same class for fast action, but it serves a different purpose.

I bought both and used them extensively on the street and during paid shoots. I sold the X-T5. Though I miss the analog dials and love the titling screen, the X-H2 has a way better build and the buffer with the CF Express card makes this a raw shooting beast. I've learned to get used to the goofy fully-articulating screen and the PASM dial.

I have a feeling both XH cameras are going to see improvements that make them better and better. I hope in a while I will be able to buy a used body to step up from the XT-3. But, don't see that happening any time soon. And, I have no major complaints with the T3 anyway. I have to say that I do like the dials, but it's not a must have for the future. Thanks for showing these 2 cameras side by side so much in your video. I received the impression from several other reviews that the X-H2 is so much bigger than the X-T5. Looking at them at 6:09, they don't seem to be, other than that the X-H2 is a fair bit thicker. Is that what people mean when they say bigger ... thicker? Am I not seeing it right? Yeah, I think they are mostly talking about the thickness in the hand with the grip. The X-H2 fills the hand completely when gripping it, while the X-T5 has a much slimmer profile. Overall though it's not too much of a drastic size difference, in my opinion!

I’d honestly look at the XT5 for a travel camera or just stick with the X-S10 (X-S20 is also rumored) I’ve got an XT4, tested the XH2S/XH2/XT5, bought the XH2S. Also recently bought an X100V. Unless you are looking for 8K video or prefer PSAM, I struggle to see the point of the XH2. The resolution increase hardly outweighs the professional benefits of the XH2S (with few exceptions like landscape). The XH2S is seriously on a different playing field. It’s Canon and Sony fast. It’s also Canon and Sony boring. But I pick it up first for all of my professional work. My X-T4 on the other hand… is my favorite camera to shoot. I bring it traveling, for street photography, and currently for daily life photography. Though I do plan to replace it with the X100V for everyday photography. X-T5/XH2 isn’t a big enough upgrade to justify replacing the X-T4, in my opinion. It doesn’t have that noticeable gap in performance like the XH2S has. Maybe that’ll change with a future firmware upgrade. But seeing as your X-S10 has the same X-Trans IV sensor as my X-T4… I’d either wait for a firmware upgrade or the X-S20, or consider if the speed advantages of the XH2S are worth it to you.

The c profiles really sell it for me on the PASM cameras. The ability to save the focus and exposure modes, aperture, shutter speed, iso to a custom profile! That convince alone is worth the $300. For some, it might take away from the joy of shooting. For others, it might take away the stress and anxiety of having to remember if they set everything up correctly.
@colinhoward2200 Жыл бұрын
You have 7 custom modes for video and 7 custom modes for photography on the X-T5. If you program one of the menu buttons it is as easy to select them as on the X-H2 cameras. Plus you can name them. So the advantage of the C settings on the dials of the X-H2 cameras is a complete misnomer.
@nwadams1 Жыл бұрын
@Colin Howard except you can't save all of the same settings to the C profiles on the xt-5 as you can on the xh2/s. That was my point.
@colinhoward2200 Жыл бұрын
@@nwadams1 OK - to a certain extent I get your point. But this no where near as restrictive as the X-T4 where the C settings that could be stored were extremely minimal. For me it is way more flexible and usable than the X-H2/H2S. In Movie mode it records all settings I can set via the controls in each C setting such as shutter speed etc. In Still Mode I can record the min/max settings per C setting if I put it into auto ISO mode - pretty much everything else is stored except for manual shutter speed, exposure comp, and apeture - but in still mode I want to use the aperture ring anyway and put shutter and ISO to Auto on the top dials. For me this is still a lot better than just having anonymous C1-C7 dials on the top. I hated that - and I come from PASM dial cameras and now would never go back to that. Being able to switch between 7 custom modes by selecting Movie and Still (so 14 in total) rather than the basic unamed options on a PASM dial seems way more flexible to me. But that is just me I guess.

I already have a Fuji film XT5 and then suddenly I wanted 100 XV or hundred S. It gets crazy and you end up with too many systems and I think it's just good to simplify everything. I reckon two cameras is perfect having a bigger camera for landscape work say and then a smaller camera for street and portraits that's kind of what I'm gonna go with. I've got the XT5 and I absolutely love it and all the blah about auto focus is a load of rubbish you just need to know how to use a camera to 56. 1.2 allegedly is a little bit dodgy on auto focus that is the older lens and that lens always had issues with every Fuji body so I wouldn't be judging the camera on a particular KZbinrs video you posted yesterday this photographer is quite famous and I would not listen to him and basically he's a Nikon fan boy. Okay back to this video well what do I think? I think you actually can't go wrong with your body it just is what you need in terms of what you like. The feel of when I held the XHS2 in my hands, it felt really professional and it felt like a full frame camera. Finally enough, that's what I wanted to move away from. I wanted to move to more of a discrete style camera with less tech, but still having a tech inside the body, which is what the XT5 has so for me less was more, but some people would like the tech that the XHT .... I prefer the screen on the XT5 to that is a big decision for me and was quite easy because I didn't like to flip out screen so much. I was always worried it will get damaged as well. Where is the other one it just sits neatly in great video. Thank you and a balanced view. Well done

YES! Ha! And it's what happens over time, right? Some things grow on you... some grow out of favor!

This is just a few reasons why I chose the X-H2 over the X-T5. Also the X-H2 does 8k video which the X-T5 does not and the X-H2 is the only mirrorless camera that can fully output an 8k video signal via HDMI 2.1. And when you add the professional grip, a whole new era of workflow in conjunction with Adobe just opens right up. Cheers 🍻.

NICE!!!! I almost kept both. Seriously - I was SO close to just keeping them, but I have to downsize for no other reason than I'm insane to keep all I have!!!!

@@JerredZ I use the X-H2 for pro shoots (the cf express b card make this a speed demon) and the X-T5 is my back up. I like the smaller size of the latter plus the dials while having the same resolution and AF capability of the former. So the X-T5 is also my vacation and street shooting machine. Love the dials!!!

I think it's a shame Fuji didn't go for fewer megapixels and instead for better low-light performance on both these cameras.

About a minute and a half into this video I felt like Hank Schrader telling Walter White that the guy standing over him with a gun had “decided ten minutes ago what he was going to do.”

My only reason for getting the X-T5: the X-H2 only has the 16-80mm F4 as a kit option (worst lens Fuji ever made) and the X-T5 gets to choose between that and the good 18-55 F2.8-4. Also the X-T5 has a silver option with proper dials and I would have bought X-H cameras if they were silver and had dials. Hell, I'd pay extra for an X-H2S with classic controls in silver. I honestly never gave a crap about the screen articulation, but the worse EVF does sting. And the lack of battery grip was 96% a deal breaker. The remaining 4% is "I'll keep this camera to flip it as soon as I have an out".
@MichaelMoore-bx6st Жыл бұрын
I just went on vacation with my 16-80 as my primary outdoor lens. The results and experience was awesome. The lens might not be Sony level sharp or anything, but it is small, fast AF, good IQ, WR, etc.. for my personal use, that lens totally rocks.
@Vinterloft Жыл бұрын
@@MichaelMoore-bx6st It's still Fuji's worst lens. Fuji just makes on average better lenses than almost anyone else. But for me the 16-80 is unusable because focus freaks the hell out while zooming so it's terrible for video. I don't mind that it's not parfocal, but this is like the least parfocal lens ever, it's as if every single mm you progress the zoom the focus motor wants to be on the opposite side of the lens from the previous mm. It's kind of comical. If you only shoot stills, it's OK if a bit soft
@MichaelMoore-bx6st Жыл бұрын
@@Vinterloft No argument on the weird things that happen during zooming, but I don't use it for video. IMO it strikes a good compromise between range and size and the build quality is very nice. You can always sharpen a little in post, and not all Fuji users are going for critically sharp anyway. For my purposes, it's a great outdoor personal use stills lens. I have other lenses for other purposes.

I really hate battery grips I feel they make the camera look ugly they loses all of its character and honestly do we really really need it
@JerredZ Жыл бұрын
Depends, right? Like anything, it's just user choice! For me I love the battery grip for longer, heavier lenses for balance, all-day shooting for battery life, and using the camera vertically with ease. Others don't care about those things, so it's all good - but I'm sad the X-T5 users don't have the choice.
@nevvanclarke9225 Жыл бұрын
@@JerredZ this battery has roughly 500 to 700 shots so I think that’s enough and then just changing out. The battery is simple enough. I don’t see many people using this camera as a wildlife camera. I think there’s a few people that do but it’s not Fuji film’s main push. I think they just wanted to keep this camera simple and back to the old school roots of just it being a photography camera for a bit of everything and do it well. I’m not a big fan of battery grips and I have used a Nikon D850 and done bird photography with that and for the extra two frames that you get it’s not worth it if you can’t shoot a bird Take up a different hobby are used to shoot birds on film cameras and tests your technique.. Anyways, we can happily agree to disagree but you can always get the XHS2
