Great Video. I've watched the 4,000,000+/- vids on the x100v but yours hits where this camera does. I'm pretty sure my Dad had that Pentax too. He passed when I was nine but some of my best memories are looking through slide reels on a little pop-up screen. Now I have all the slides scanned so I can always go back and look. The photos I get with the x100v are the closest I've seen/taken that bring back those, in the moment feels. Love it! Thank you

Wonderful. I know what you mean. I had the Fuji XE-2S which is an antecedent of the X100V. I am 82, 58 years in photography. I was amazed by how "present" I felt while taking pictures. Especially pictures of people. The camera handled so wonderfully and happily, and the viewfinder had a magic way of revealing the subjects' humanity. After post-processing, the photos reflected those feelings. These are qualities you can't measure with numbers, but they are very real. I shoot Canon now, and the lenses that have a nice "people feel" are the 135/2, the EF 24-105/4, and the 50/2.8 from some years back. Fuji cameras in general were very good for journo-type pics in a third-grade classroom, for example. But I have to say, for my professional work I am much more pleased with the Canon R6 and EF 24-105/4, as they show the kids' humanity in a kindly way, the image quality is more detailed than APS-C, and the RAW photos are much easier to work with in the mixed lighting and sometimes heavy shadows of a classroom. Video is another question entirely, and I'm thrilled by what I'm getting from the iPhone 15 Pro in ProRes LOG in a cheap rig with a 1TB SSD and the fine Shure MV88+ mic. (Sorry, Terry, I do go on - but I love to share.)

I'm on the fence on whether or not I want the upcoming X100VI. I bought a Nikon Z30 when I couldn't get my hands on an X100V. The Z30 is a fine camera and the 24mm f/1.7 is a stellar lens but I really want that optical viewfinder.

I had an XT-4 for years and everyone was talking about how the autofocus of a sony camera is superior. I recently moved to a sony a7c2 and it does have everything that people are saying and yet I still miss my fujifilm camera. It might not have the best autofocus and the sharpest photos but nothing can beat the feeling of working with a fuji camera. Even the way photos look have a feeling to them. I might just go back. Great vid.

You summed it all up for me, having also moved to the X100V from [major brand with every bell and whistle imaginable] just before the TikTok hype kicked in. I pick up the X100V, perhaps just to move it to another part of my desk, and I find myself subconsciously slipping off the lens cover and bringing it up to my eye to see how it sees what is in front of me and around me. People say it’s inspiring, I prefer to say it is encouraging: it makes me want to take photos. All creative tools should be like that.

Everything you describe is exactly how I feel when I first used Fujifilm X-T1 during 2014. I had to switched all my photo soul from Canon to Fujifilm and never looked back. Nowadays I shoot with Fujifilm X-H2S, GFX 50S II, and X-E2S. It is very possible that I might pick up X100VI. X100S was the first body I played with it, AF was the setback for me from purchasing one... then when I tried X100V, It was tempting.... Now that X100VI... it is pushing the button more! Enjoy!! Photography should always be fun!

I am not a professional photographer, just an accomplished amateur. That means, “good enough” really works for me. Oh, and I did sell my V version for considerably more than it cost me. I also have a mint X70, point and shoot that is worth a ton of money. It is with me all the time. Nice presentation. Wayne

Fuji guy for 3 years now. Love the system. It’s not perfect but what is. Here’s a thing that not everybody figures out right away - if you shoot raw (or raw+jpg) you can reprocess the RAWs in-camera to try different film sims, settings etc. While in playback, go to the menu and hit raw conversion. You can also tether the camera to your computer and use the free X Raw Studio app as a front end for that processing but usually I don’t bother - I just do it on the back of the camera. In-camera raw processing is a great way to get a feel for all the various settings because you can reprocess the same image and see the difference.

Pentax K1000! Great camera. I grew up on an old Nikon my father gave me and that’s why when I found Fuji, I found home. I have the XT5 and the X100V and I’m Fuji for life. Great video! PS: I’m not a fanboy of any brand, I have shot Canon, Nikon, etc. I have a Sony ZV1 for my vlogging and I love it. But the Fuji’s have so much heart and soul and just remind me of coming up as a young man and learning photography on a film camera.

I bought a Leica X a few years back as I was in a quandary about my photography. Eight years later I still prefer to take it out over my full frame gear - it makes me think about my images, about the composition, and above all else the camera has some limitations that mean I have to work a little. To me it sounds like the Fuji has done for you, what my Leica did for me - enjoy the moment.

I've shoot Sony A7/A7Riii for many years now, with some really good glass...... But I have always had naughty thoughts about an X100...... I managed to pick up an X100f a month ago for a good price and I must say, you've pretty much summed up my initial thoughts in this video. The Sony is still for dedicated landscape/sunrise/Milky Way work, but the Fuji for general use is awesome. I shoot a bit of film, so I've been trying to use the X100f OVF only with NO image review!! That's interesting when I get home.....

@matthieuzglurg60159 ай бұрын
the X100Vi will not be fundamentaly different. It will just incorporate things that we've been expecting to see in more modern Fuji cameras, like IBIS, 40MP sensor, better AF. Other than that, it will be a carbon copy of the X100V, most likely
@JonFairhurst10 ай бұрын
I get it. Some years ago, I was given a Bronica 6x6 medium format film camera. I then took a film class, where I learned how to process film, use a darkroom, and develop film. I used that knowledge to process film at home, got a scanner for negatives, and would use Photoshop by limiting the processing to what I could do in the darkroom. I ended up framing the best shots from that camera. I’ve never framed an image from my digital cameras or my phone. Yeah. You can feel it.

Since I finished your video (LOL!) there is SO much more to that camera to break down! Hybrid viewfinder (huge feature showing frame lines during optical finder, electronic 'TV' in optical finder mode, etc), digital crop, leaf shutter (huge for higher flash sync speeds without HSS) , electronic internal NDs (stills and video). Get a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter and use the DJI mic to monitor audio, etc. The list goes on and this camera is "old" LOL

Had it, sold it. It was limiting. I moved onto the XT30 II, sold that... Now I have a X-T5, XH2, and a nearly mint X-T2 I got pre-owned with a super low shutter count. Those cameras are all better than the X100V with marginal size increase. The X100V is a great camera, but worth MSRP at best.
@erwinmarionneaux10 ай бұрын
I think what's special about the x100v is that its limiting. It forces you to stay within the limit of the camera and there's nothing you can do about it. Yes, you could technically get a better result with other fuji cameras and also have more flexibility but that's the issue. Thos hard limits make a huge impact on the experience and why its soo enjoyable to shoot with.
@takepx10 ай бұрын
You can have the same limits with a X-T series camera by forcing yourself to use a prime. Exactly what I do. Like I stated, at MSRP, nice camera. 2k, nahhh, hard pass.
@socialbender10 ай бұрын
Better is subjective . I’ve bought the v 3 times , bought an xt5 sold that still have the v . A built in flash , weather sealing , leaf shutter and built in nd. It’s the best you can get for an edc imo . The newer af is faster but it’s unsure unless you are using an xh2s imo . I sold the last x100v I had and bought a canon r6 . Well I don’t have that anymore and own the v again ; the x100v and 2 a7iv’s .
@DS-cf1zc10 ай бұрын
Thats the idea of a fixed lens camera - its meant to limit you to a degree, as it makes you think more about your composition, about the images you take. I havent owned any Fuji's yet, I have Canon, Nikon and a Leica X - the reason Leica stopped making the X is the success of the Fuji 100 series cameras. I do agree about price - I always pay less than MSRP by some way - usually waiting for a sale, or stock reduction.

Restrictions like a fixed focal length can help you see the world differently, and compose in unique ways because it forces you to hone in with what you've got. That perspective can allow you to be more creative. I'd rather be a photographer who masters their craft than box myself in due to hardware.
