First of all, I hope you are all healthy and safe...
We had a chance to relax for a day in a nearby town. It was short but absolutely perfect.
Things happened last year completely changed my mind about photography, gear, etc. I feel like every moment is more special now. Having a cup of coffee, walking outside, reading a book, hiking in nature, drinking a glass of wine, watching the sunrise. I enjoy living whenever I can and these videos are my visual journal to document these special moments. So, please don't take it too seriously. Everything you watch on this channel is pretty much created for fun.
It was an off the grid cabin so we had no electricity. Some of the camping lights we used caused flicker. I am using the free version of Davinci Resolve. So I wasn't able to use the deflicker to get rid of those artifacts. It is not so bad so I kept those scenes in the video since they were essential to tell the story. Wanted to put it out there just in case someone is distracted by it.

Here is a short weekend adventure in Aptos, CA. I hope you enjoy it! I still think X-T3 video quality is really good. I though about buying a new camera such as A7Siii or Canon R5 but ended up putting that money into stocks :) I guess it was a good choice!

I have to AGREE! I LOVE my XT3 and I think it for sure pioneered small form factor with great specs! 4k60 in such a small package is fantastic. I am a gear nerd and LOVE new cameras ect. I also was like ahhh I want the R5 or whatever but I just can't justify it. The XT3 is such a great value at nearly 1/4 the cost of the R5 and I love the colors and photos that come out of the Fuji.

Fantastic video! I just upgraded from the X-T1 to the X-T3 about a week ago and the video performance is amazing. I have that Samyang 12mm lens but I haven't put it on the X-T3 yet. I think that's my new weekend project, to create a short film with the X-T3/Samyang 12mm combo. I love the stillness and calmness of this short piece. I know a lot of work and planning went into this video. I tried filming myself making a cup of tea earlier in the year and that 15 second clip took me about an hour! When you actually go to film something, even simple tasks, you realize just how much pre-planning the specific movements and camera angles goes into it. Thanks for making this video. You've given me a lot to think about in terms of camera height and framing.

Hey Charles! Thank you so much for the great comment! Hope you enjoy your new camera. It is a pretty advance video gadget. You are right about planning and setting up a shot. Sometimes it takes so much time and when you check it on the computer screen, composition is wrong or light is bad etc. We had so many of those bad video attempts in the past, but recently we kind of built a routine and making a video is usually only adding up a couple minutes to our day. It is usually good team work and we get the shot we want quickly. Last couple trip I almost used all clips. No miss shots. Which is an amazing feeling :)

Beautiful video! My only criticism would be the fake black bars instead of exporting as 21:9. I'm watching on an ultrawide so would be stunning to see it fullscreen rather than letterboxed on all sides.

Thanks for watching! Since I get this comment a lot, I started adding in my description. Using black bars is a personal decision. I uploaded cropped videos before and they all did very poor in watch time. I think YT is favoring 16:9 videos over different aspect ratios. So, I am just using data and making a choice based on that. I agree it would look cooler but would reach less people.

Amazing footage as always. Maybe this one is my favorite. The lens itself has a lot of light leaking. I own it and it's also visibly in your footage. It doesn't matter when the continent is so relaxing but it would be a problem if you want to do some sort of let's say visual effects or similar.

Love it like always!! Great video!! Do you always set your white balance? also how do you get such a clear audio with VideoMicro? I have the same setup and it seems like it's so hard to get clean audio. I have my volume at -3db...

Thank a lot Michael! I set my white balance manual for every shot but don’t try to be exact since we have to shoot quickly. I think the most challenging thing is setting up the audio levels for each shot. I have to do it constantly. My biggest complain about fuji cameras is the mic pre amps. I am not happy with the sound I am getting. Trying to make it work with EQ and Noise reduction.

Using both cameras, I can say there is not a huge difference between the 2. I shoot log on both and do a lot of color grading on top. Differences are negligible especially in same conditions imo.

Hey Jeff thank you! All sounds were recorded in camera with the cheap Rode Video Micro. Did basic EQ in Davinci Resolve. In reality Fuji pre-amps are not my favorite. It was picking up so much noise due to magnetic fields in the cabin. Somehow managed to find usable audio for each scene.
