Fujifilm 27mm f2.8 Pancake "The Street King"

I have to admit, I was skeptical at best about this little lens. I wanted to like it because of its amazing size or lack there of. It ended up really surprising me!!
This is my honest review of this very popular street photography, documentary lens!!

I am wanting to purchase an XT-30ii and it is 999 dollars with an included 15-45mm lens. Should I purchase just the body and then get a TTaertisam pancake lens? Which lens is better for portraits/street photography?

It’s my best lens for street! I’m of the firm opinion that this together with the 18mm f2 or the Voigtländer 18mm f2.8 and the Samyang 75mm f1.8 makes the best kit for street photography in the whole system. I can carry those three lenses in a very small sling and have lots of flexibility while being able to carry the camera around my neck without pain.

I still need to get my hands on the 18mm f1.4. Do you think the f2 is as good or is it the form factor that you like best about it? I need to check out the Samyang!! I love the smaller kits!! Fuji is so great at making the smaller form factor! Love the Fujicrons!!

@@jasonberkmanphotography8672 I’ve had the 18 f1.4 and sold it for Voigtländer 18 f2.8 because of the form factor. The f1.4 had brillant image quality, but I wouldn’t want to carry it with a camera around my neck. The VL is way softer concerning sharpness, but still delivers on my X-T5. It has a softer look with character. Fuji 18 f2 should be nearly the same in image quality. Just don‘t expect clinical sharpness. Sharpness wise it’s probably comparable to Fujicron 23mm f2, which I also sold because I’ve no longer needed it. But with more character and manual focus of course.

@@jasonberkmanphotography8672 The Samyang 75 has brillant image quality and bokeh while being small and silent autofocus. No-brainer for me.

@@ianforber no, have not tried it. But if it’s comparable to the Voigtländer 18mm f2.8 then the Fuji is much cleaner iq wise. Much more „modern“ and sharp, while the VL 18mm has a soft glow, pretty strong vignette and „character“.

That lens was too pricey for me so I got the TTArtisan 27mm AF which has been great if you don't mind some vignetting at f/2.8.
