Thanks for the teardown. You can get all sorts of weird and wonderful light guides for photomultipliers, some of them are beautiful pieces of plastic, like yours.

Did you see the huge bundles of fibers as light guide that I show in the AGFA AD5155 teardown video?

Nice, it is always interesting to see how different companies make the same kind of unit. Many interesting parts to salvage. :) Greetings, Michael

I especially like when going down the time line of the same products. This is the "middle" size of the scanners I had. The big one was already done and there is videos of it, later on I got a even smaller scanner, will be interesting to see how the parts are scaled down :)

Very cool piece of equipment, It looks very heavy!

It weighs in at 155 kg! I had to jack it up 10 cm at a time, add wooden blocks, rinse and repeat, to get it up on the pallet :)

Littelfuse has those smd fuseholders with pre-installed fuses as a standard part on most component distributors now. It is pick and place compatible and almost the same price, pretty much a no brainer for high-end equipment that don't have extreme HALT/HASS requirements. Also, that metal plate would make a nice base for a 3D printer :)
@KaizerPowerElectronicsDk
@KaizerPowerElectronicsDk 3 жыл бұрын
Certainly is a better solution than soldering the fuses directly to the PCB, I have seen that a lot in almost all of my RF equipment teardown videos. The metal plate currently has my table grinder sitting on it, that removed all vibration noise from it :)

How did you get one of these without breaking the bank? I'm really into taking x rays and have been trying to get one that's not in the multi thousand dollar range. Also great video, I love how you explain how it operates!

Thank you for the kind words. Ask around at local privately owned metal scrap yards. Electronics are often a costly waste product to them.

@@KaizerPowerElectronicsDk that's crazy I would have never thought to look at scrap yards, thank you. I was looking on medical surplus websites, eBay (but freight shipping is sooooo expensive), an emailing radiology departments to see if they're getting rid of any of them

These fujifilms were leading edge technology at the day. By today standards image still is sharper than cheapo korean or chinese scanners. Also this was direct xray casette system, so it have its own dedicated casettes which were reusable and cleared in device by row of ccfl tubes.
@KaizerPowerElectronicsDk
@KaizerPowerElectronicsDk 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I have not yet found any casettes, they are too high value to get thrown out.
@tomasz5315

@@KaizerPowerElectronicsDk even with casettes software is very expensive, around 5k USD So its not worth trying. If you are curious i have access to xray cassetes for this fuji fcr series scanner so i can took pictures and internals how it works

Why does your channel not have more subscribers - kinda makes me sad :( I built my first Tesla coil based on one of your designs, which tripped a bunch of breakers in the house and got my family mad at me, so I guess it's karma? :p j/k - man the quality of your content and website is invaluable. I honestly believe you can really boost your YT channel by... I dunno, I'm not a youtuber :), but e.g. why do plasma channel (also a good channel) and EEVblog (obviously the GOAT of EE, no complaints there) have such large subscriber bases? Especially the former - I don't know how "serious" you want to take YTing, but based on my complete lack of YT creator experience :), I think the way plasma channel does his video production is probably a big contributor to his growth. I can't put my finger on what exactly works, but yeah... that's just my 2 cents. Good luck - you really are one of the rare people who know WTF they're talking about! Edit: electroboom is also a good example of how to make videos more appealing to "the masses" I guess? Or even .... damn I cant remember his name now, but a german guy that seems to do well on various EE projects (the one with the "LED soldering" intro)

Thank you for the kind words :) It was easier to grow a youtube channel 10 years ago, my first channel still has more views than the dedicated Kaizer Power Electronics has. There is simply too much content uploaded every second, that the algorithm can not really promote some extensively, without neglecting others. My content is very niche and I am not really putting on a act or trying to dramatize it. Something that Jay from Plasma channel does, he puts a story together and uses some drama. I would need a production team or go youtube full time as Dave Jones did, to take it to another level. As a hobby channel with hobby projects, I can only hope that some of my subscribers share my content and it goes viral :) Electroboom started out as Dave and me, a electronics channel with no bullshit. But they have both found out that drama and for electroboom turning into a total comedian = more view = more money. That is not my plan :)

At least when you scrap the steel you will get more for the heavy steel parts, after removing them from the light stuff.

Steel is not of high value, I kept the heavy bottom plate as mounting plate for my large grinder/polisher.
