A note for those that shoot in RAW: you can still take advantage of these film simulations using Fuji's X Raw Studio. The app requires you to plug in your camera, and it will use the camera's built-in image processor to apply the settings. Very useful if you want to quickly experiment with different profiles to find the one that suits you the best.

Kodak Tri-x is insane! Thank you!!!!!!! WTF. I've been playing with light and crazy high contrast in ways like never before... got it on the pergear 25mm 1.8 man it's bonkers.

I grew up shooting on real tri-x film and doing all my own darkroom work. Life got in the way but after all these decades, I’d love to get back to capturing that b&w look. I think I need to buy an X-T2 soon!

tri x 400 was my jam when i was shooting film! love the shots you got with the simulation! i have been using fuji week's ILFOR HP5 as it was another fav of mine when i shot film. might have to add the tri x to my list :) definingly going to add that color one though!

Perfectly timed vid. Last week I decided to shoot in jpg only for a while, so that I pay more attention to the act of shooting (esp. composition + exposure), and avoid the temptation to rely on post-processing raw files to create a decent image. On your advice I've just plugged in the Portra 160 settings on my X-T20, and am looking forward to trying it out this weekend!

I really like taking pictures with those custom film simulations, but the only thing that bugs me is that as soon as you touch the Clarity setting, the camera takes a time after each photo taken that says ''Storing image'' and it keeps me from taking multiple pictures back to back. I wish Fuji would adress that
@brianhinesley Жыл бұрын
yeah i ditched clarity for that reason, not worth it, especially when you are shooting street photography or fashion/portrait work.. would only work if you were doing something like macro or just generally a slow/casual shooter.

Every video you release makes me grab the XT-2 and do some shooting. Really like how you pop out of this monochrome background. Care to share which camera, lens and film sim used in this video?
@olawalesanni28722 жыл бұрын
I'm replying to this as im shooting with the XT2 ;) funny enough i had a grey sweater on and decided to change last second but the lens and sim was the 16mm 2.8 & the Portra 160!

If you take it to 5600k R+1, B+1 and switch it over to Pro Neg H, you might enjoy the summer vibe.

Do you shoot this with the +2/3 to +1 1/3 overexposed recommendation or just correctly exposed for the Portra 160? Photos look amazing. I programmed this immediately
@olawalesanni28722 жыл бұрын
I recommend overexposure of 2/3 on the porta simulation!

Great video man, subbed. You see from my channel that I’m a LUMIX GH5 user but I’ve really been meaning to get a Fujifilm camera and especially use it for photography (I’m a bit of a beginner to the art of single frame storytelling!). I’m quite content with my GH5 for video and more high production client videography work but want to try out the Fujifilm system on a budget for photo, would also like occasional video capabilities when I go travelling in September. Do you have any recommendations? :)
@olawalesanni28722 жыл бұрын
yeah id recommend getting the Fujifilm Xt2, you can shoot 4k and get some amazing images with it! being that it has no IBIS its something that works in your favor being that its only 500 or so!
@TalesOfTam2 жыл бұрын
@@olawalesanni2872 thanks man! I don’t think any ibis can outdo the GH5 so I’m fine with no IBIS and a stabilised lens! And to be honest in some of my recent travels I used my iPhone 8 with a gimbal and it worked perfectly fine 😂

Wow that was a nice tutorial, I would have clicked to it much earlier, if you would have used your face for the thumbnail instead of a girl. I don‘t like these „girls sell all“ thumbnails. No intro, no 3 minutes of bs introduction, right to the point… wonderful and thanks a lot!
