Hey! Since you worked with jpeg only a while I might ask you the question directly here: I just tried to get a flat raw with Xraw from fuji and just removed all edits and just used Provia or Astia and then compared it with lightroom adobe neutral and White balance set to auto but they differ greatly it's so weird :D how do you edit if you ever edit? I'm thinking of just using the fuji processor for jpegs and shoot... and if I'm not happy just use lightroom but sort of use the JPEG as reference to get the look and tone down or increase or change it up completely. It's sad that the raws differ in different processors :( I don't really want to use capture one, it's so complicated and I hate the user interface, It's not intuitive and just mashed together in my opinion.@@MikeChudley
@davevayn Жыл бұрын
I just hope I don't miss out on any hidden processing by Fuji when not using X raw but it does look like it gets quite a lot of contrast even as a raw from just a basic simulation, might just be standard to them so you can't get it super clean, maybe lightroom is sort of ahead there, really confuses me.
@noahsedillo5470 Жыл бұрын
It looks like a slight tweak in the contrast and saturation on the JPEGs would make them look almost identical to the raws, which is awesome for an easy day of shooting without the pressure of having to sit down and edit for hours. Love the video!

It was just too much sometimes to take it, especially on a daily basis when you just go for a walk or for a day in the city. But I miss having a camera always with me. I am sure the Fuji would be perfect to reignite that fun ! And the recipe you used here is just *chefs kiss* so thanks a loooot for sharing. Love your content. Food for thought: It seems like you favor brighter shadows in your RAW edits. I understand that this video is just a comparison between a JPEG recipe and your ideal version of that recipe via RAW processing. Wouldn't it make more sense though to just adjust the recipe to your taste? In your case, maybe bumping the shadows in the sim to -2? One thing that can be important for us all to remember is that a recipe doesn't have to be rigid; it can be used as a great starting point. Don't feel like you can't tweak to taste, making something entirely unique. Great video, just rocking the boat for the sake of conversation! I had to watch this video with the audio off, so I could be totally off base, haha!

I'd say I liked the JPEGs more often than the RAW edits. I think some of the ones where I liked the RAW edit more is because you didn't quite get the right exposure. You might have been 1/3 or 1/2 a stop too dark. But even so the photos were still good. I think it's important for people to be more accepting of the photos they take, just the way they took them. Nice video.

Cool video, looking forward to trying out that Ultramax formula! It sometimes seems like you shoot in bursts of 3-4 photos, is this some sort of bracketing? (or maybe just a habit of taking several photos at once?)

If you are using Photoshop it is so easy to edit the RAW files. Takes seconds. These jpeg are only ok with the right light. RAW’s give me much better result when printing pics. Better resolution too. If you only shoot for socials, than jpeg are fine.

in the beginning I loved your jpeg but after a while you became with a few underexposed jpeg´s (so, better raw) / thus, the thing is : Fuji jpeg is great ... if we do it with the right exposure, so 😍 click watching too the Histogram and for common photos we do not need raw (that are mandatory for those scenes where we think possible to get the higher level)

you eeem to lift the shadows in all your raw edits. why not set shadows to -2 on the camera. then your jpgs should look similar... it seems backwards but negative values protect shadows and highlights. so -2 shadows will lift your shadows nicely.... -1 highlights will gently restore highlights..

I haven’t had the camera to long and when I do the bracketing of different jpg recipes plus raw. I download them to Lightroom on my Samsung tablet,I have spent forever looking at the differences and I can’t tell a difference between any of them next to the raw. It’s like the raw is getting downloaded with those settings. I didn’t think this was possible so I’m really confused. @MikeChudley Жыл бұрын
When you take the picture. The camera saves a raw file and a JPEG file. The raw file is higher quality and is much better for people who want to edit in lightroom for example. A jpeg file is a smaller file size, easier to manage and quicker to access. If you’re shooting professionally then you want to shoot in raw for the best possible quality and then edit the image afterwards. If you’re just shooting casually then the standard jpeg that comes out of the camera will be good enough. Hope this makes sense.
